Abstract

The device mainly consists of a container (17) receiving the waste products flushed from a lavatory (1) and/or drained from any other sanitary appliance, a pressure control (26) installed inside the container (17), a pump (23) indirectly operated by the pressure control (26), pipes connected to the pump (23) for the pressure discharge of the waste products, the container (17) being completed by an openable lid (31) adequately sealed so as to prevent the overflow of any liquid or stench.
The container (17) is divided into two compartments (19,20) by a partition wall (18), one of the compartments receives the waste products, while the other houses the pump (23), with the pipe fitting connected to the drain-pipe (21), the pressure control (26), the pump motor (27) and all the electrical installations and accessories required for its working.

Description

  • It is a well-known fact that it is not always possible to have a soil-pipe of the suitable slope and diameter required for adequately draining waste products and other solid matter, such as faeces, paper, etc., from lavatories.
  • The problem may concern new drainage systems or systems where there is a short distance between the house drain and the sanitary appliances or, on the contrary, existing drainage systems where there is a considerable distance between the house drain and the sanitary appliances.
  • Obviously, the two problems have different solutions, although the goal is a common goal.
  • In the former case (a short distance between the house drain and the sanitary appliances), this invention provides for the installation of a container, located inside the lavatory, below the siphon, receiving the waste products coming from both the lavatory and/or the other appliances, when the water is flushed; said waste products being adequately triturated and then pressure discharged into the house drain.
  • Furthermore, the invention also provides for the following: a triturator operating concomitantly with the pump in order to facilitate the trituration process, a pipe draining the water and the triturated waste products into the container, a second pump for draining the triturated and fluidized products from the container incorporated at the base of the lavatory to the house drain. As previously mentioned, this plant is particularly useful if the distance between the sanitary appliances and the pump is not too long; otherwise, the preferred device includes a container receiving the waste products from the lavatory and/or any other sanitary appliance, a pressure sensor located inside the container, a pump indirectly operated by the above mentioned pressure sensor, pipes connected to the pump for the pressure discharge of the waste products, the container being covered by an openable adequately sealed to prevent the leakage of any liquid and stench.
  • This device may be better understood by reading the more detailed description which follows, making reference to the attached drawings:
    • Fig. 1, shows a vertical longitudinal section of a WC provided with this invention;
    • Fig. 2, shows a vertical cross-section of the WC;
    • Fig. 3, shows a schematical view of a device specifically devised in the case the lavatory is situated at a distance from the house drain;
    • Fig. 4, shows an A---A cross-section of the device shown in fig. 3.
  • With reference to figs. 1 and 2 of the lavatory 1, below the siphon 2 and housed in the base 4 of the lavatory bowl 1 there is a container 3. The waste products and water contained in the siphon 2 flow to the container 3 through the pipes 5 and 6. While passing through pipe 5 toward the container 3 the waste products and other solid matter are triturated by the triturator 7 and, at the same time, they are sucked by the pump 8 which then pressure discharges the triturated waste matter together with the water into the container 3. In said container 3, located at the base 4 of the lavatory bowl and below the siphon 2, there is an air-trap 9; also inside the base 4 of the lavatory bowl but outside the container 3, there is a pressure sensor 10 and a condenser 11.
  • Fig. 2 shows that the waste coming from the other sanitary appliances also flows into the container 3 through the pipe 13, this waste is then drained from the container 3 into the house drain through the pipe 14.
  • This operation is aided by a suction and pressing pump 12, preferably operated by the same motor 15 which also operates the pump 8 and the triturator 7, by means of which the waste products contained inside the container 3 are sucked from said container and pressure discharged into the house drain.
  • It must be pointed out that the entire pump and triturator unit is switched on and off by the air-trap 9 which operates the pressure sensor 10 connected by pipes to the container 3; the air-trap 9, which senses the change of pressure caused by the entry and the exit of the waste products. Obviously, any other adequate system, such as a float or whatever, may be used instead of the air-trap 9.
  • Furthermore, if one wants the waste coming from other sanitary appliances to be triturated also, instead of being drained directly into the container 3, it could be drained in0to the pipe 5 located before the triturator 7.
  • It must also be pointed out that the above mentioned device if it should receive water directly from the water-supply network, or in any case if it is deemed necessary, shall also be provided with a stop valve or with any disconnecting system in general, preventing the backflow of the water into the water supply network. Lastly, the siphon is also provided with an opening 16, normally sealed, enabling the inspection of the S trap and the removal of any clogging.
  • As previously mentioned, figs. 3 and 4 show a particularly adequate model of the device if the sanitary appliances are located further away from the house drain; according to this model and with reference to figs. 4 and 5, the device consists of a container 17, divided by a partition wall 18 into two compartments 19 and 20; compartment 19 receives the waste products, while compartment 20 houses the pump, a pressure sensor 26, the electrical and mechanical controls and the inlet of the drain-pipe 21.
  • The compartment 19, which receives the waste products, contains a probe 24 communicating, by means of a pipe 25, with the pressure control 26 housed inside a water-tight box and located in the second compartment 20 of the container 17.
  • The partition wall 18 dividing the container 17 into compartments 19 and 20 is provided with a pipe fitting 22 connecting the compartment 19 with the pump 23, through which also passes the above mentioned pipe 25. The second compartment 20 also houses the motor 27 operating the pump 23 and all the electrical installations and accessories required for the correct working of the device. When the probe 24 senses the arrival inside the compartment 19 of the waste products flushed from the lavatory through the soil-pipe 28 or of the waste drained from the other sanitary appliances through the soil-pipe 29, due to the consequent change of pressure, it sends a signal to the pressure control 26 which switches on the pump 23. The pump 23 sucks the waste products, empties the compartment 19 and at the same time pushes the waste products toward the pipe 21. The water and solid matter while passing through the pump are crushed and compressed, thus facilitating the discharge. In order to prevent any danger of backflow of the waste products toward the pump 23, a check valve 30 has been provided for, while a blowdown valve 31, with relative float 32, is intalled on the wall 18 or in any other point of the compartment 19, with height of suction either inside or outside the compartment 19. Once the compartment 19 has been emptied, the probe 24 senses the new change of pressure and sends another signal to the pressure control 26 which then switches off the pump 23.
  • As previously mentioned, a lid 31 provides the airtight seal for the container 17, so as to prevent any overflow of liquid or stench from the container 17 itself and at the same time to enable access to the same or to the equipment contained therein in case of breakdown.
