Description

The invention relates to an insulating material which is provided on one side with a carrier web and consists of a plurality of sheep wool fibers.

Already in DE-PS 12 217 an insulating material is described, which consists of two layers of tough and strong paper, between which cotton wool is glued.

Sheep wool has proven to be an excellent insulating material, since an insulating material made from sheep wool has a low thermal conductivity and therefore good thermal insulation. In addition, sheep's wool has very good fire behavior, since it only glows in the event of ignition and goes out automatically. The sheep's wool is also able to absorb large amounts of moisture while maintaining its good thermal insulation properties. In addition, sheep's wool does not pollute the environment when it is disposed of, as it is completely biodegradable and recyclable. As a natural product, sheep's wool is produced in large quantities and requires only a small amount of energy to process it as an insulating material.

The invention has for its object to provide an insulating material that is made using sheep's wool and requires as little foreign matter as possible.

This object is achieved in that the fibers are at least slightly connected to each other by pushing in needles.

This results in a very good interweaving of the sheep's wool fibers with one another without the need for glue or the like to achieve sufficient cohesion of the wool fibers.

An insulating mat produced in this way can be equipped with a very low density depending on the intended use.

It is also very advantageous if, according to the invention, the carrier web is also made of sheep's wool fibers and is preferably compressed to a higher degree than the actual insulating web when needling, and if the two webs are connected to one another by needling that solidifies the actual insulating web.

Due to the higher compression of the carrier web, it also has a higher tear resistance and can perform its function as a carrier web without any additional aids. Also for the connection of the carrier sheet and the insulating sheet, no further connecting means or connecting material is necessary in this embodiment, so that the insulating material is completely free of foreign substances.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention lies in the fact that the carrier web protrudes at least slightly beyond the actual insulating web at its two longitudinal edges.

The insulating material can be fastened with the two carrier strip strips projecting over the actual insulating sheet. This is advantageous if the insulating material e.g. for the insulation of sloping ceilings or similar rooms where the insulating material is not supported from below and where there may be problems due to the softness of the material. With the two carrier strip strips above, the insulating material can be attached to the rafters of a roof and thus has an excellent hold. At the same time, the carrier sheet also contributes to the insulation and supports the actual insulating sheet significantly.

It is also very advantageous if, according to the invention, the actual insulating sheet is constructed from a plurality of thinner partial sheets which are needled together.

This makes it possible to produce the insulating material even in large thicknesses, without needlessly long needles being used for needling. In addition, it is possible to needle the individual layers to different degrees, so that the insulation material can be adapted to the most varied of insulation conditions.

It is also very advantageous if the carrier web is additionally provided with a further covering web attached to the side facing away from the insulating web.

This additional cover sheet can both increase the mechanical strength of the carrier sheet without impairing its insulating properties, but it can also be designed as an additional vapor barrier.

It has proven to be very advantageous if, according to the invention, the cover sheet consists of paper or the like.

Paper in the corresponding configuration results in a high additional strength and can also be designed as a vapor barrier.

Both the insulating sheet 2 and the carrier sheet 3 are made up of loosely laid sheep's wool fibers, which are needled together. The carrier web 3 is needled comparatively strongly, as a result of which it has a favorable tensile strength and gives the insulating mat the necessary processing strength. The insulating sheet, on the other hand, is only slightly needled, so that the fibers hold together but are not unnecessarily compressed. It is possible to swirl the fibers when laying them on to further improve cohesion. For needling the insulating sheet 2, it is placed on the carrier sheet and needled from above, whereby a connection of the two sheets is created at the same time as a result of penetrating needles.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, an insulating mat 21 is shown which is composed of three layers, namely an insulating layer 22, a carrier layer 23 and a further layer 24 arranged between the two. The insulating layer 22 and the carrier layer 23 largely correspond to the tracks 2 and 3 according to Fig. 1. The further layer 24 is needled slightly firmer than the insulating layer 22 and is applied first to the carrier layer and connected to it when needling. The insulating layer and the further layer can have any strength generated by needling and can each be constructed from any number of individual layers. The connection of each layer with the one underneath takes place again when needling.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, an insulating sheet 32 and a carrier sheet 33 are again provided, which are produced and connected to one another as previously described. On the side of the carrier web 33 facing away from the insulating web 32, a corrugated cardboard web 35 corrugated on one side is applied, which carries an aluminum foil 36 on its smooth outside. At this Design the corrugated cardboard web 35 and the aluminum foil 36 serve for further stiffening and as a vapor barrier.

The exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 4 has an insulating sheet 42 and a carrier sheet 43, which are again produced and connected by needling. The carrier web 43 is covered on its side facing away from the insulating web 42 with an aluminum foil 46 which serves as a vapor barrier.

55 entstanden sind, die zum Annageln des Isoliermaterials, beispielsweise an Dachsparren, dienen.5 shows an embodiment of an insulating material 51, which consists of an insulating sheet 52 and a carrier sheet 53. The two webs 52, 53 are made from sheep's wool fibers, which are joined together to form an intimate association by needling. The carrier sheet is more densely compressed than the insulating sheet, which makes it stronger. The connection between the carrier sheet and the insulating sheet is also brought about by this needling. The carrier sheet 53 protrudes on both longitudinal sides over the insulating sheet 52, whereby strips 54 and 55 are formed which serve to nail the insulating material, for example to rafters.

65 entstehen. In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, a carrier web 63, on its side facing away from an insulating web 62, is provided with a cover web 66 which is made of paper. It can be simple kraft paper, but it is also possible to use impregnated paper, which can then also serve as a vapor barrier. In this exemplary embodiment as well, the carrier web 63 projects over the insulating web 62 on both longitudinal sides, as a result of which strips 64 and 65 are formed.

The exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 7 shows an insulating material composed of an insulating sheet 72, a carrier sheet 73 and a cover sheet 77, which is constructed in multiple layers. Depending on the application, this can be done for the individual Layers of cover sheet 77 different materials can be used. For example, the use of aluminum foil or plastic foil is conceivable, both in combination with a thin paper layer, for example. The carrier web 73 projecting beyond the insulating web 72 also produces strips 74 and 75 for nailing the insulating material in this exemplary embodiment.
