Description

Ammunition for the launching at low pressure of projectiles which can be fired into large caliber guns.
The invention relates to the technical sector of ammunition.
Large caliber ammunition for firearms is known, designed for the firing of various projectiles, generally shaped to avoid penetration on impact on an individual, thus constituting non-lethal ammunition.
The projectiles used are fragile, so that it is not allowed to use propulsion systems, requiring pyrotechnics operating at high pressure. Such projectiles must therefore be fired under low pressure.
For this purpose, it is possible to use black powder, which makes it possible to have a lively and complete combustion range, under a relatively low pressure. However, the black powder generates significant smoke and residue.
In an attempt to remedy these drawbacks, ammunition has been proposed comprising a cylindrical case, one end of which receives a projectile, while the other end has a concentric chamber receiving a cartridge of reduced size. The chamber has, over its entire length, a constant and uniform internal diameter, corresponding to that of the cartridge, to avoid the rise at high pressure. The cartridge is loaded with pyroxilated powder and receives an overheated primer in fulminant composition.
Cet état de la technique ressort de l'enseignement du brevetThis state of the art is apparent from the teaching of the patent
FR 2630603.FR 2630603.
This solution brings very significant advantages but is not entirely satisfactory. Indeed, the powder is not totally burnt and does not always allow a sufficient increase in pressure.
The object of the invention is to remedy these 5 drawbacks in a simple, safe, effective and rational manner.
Le problème que se propose de résoudre l'invention est de pouvoir augmenter la pression, afin de donner de la vitesse au projectileThe problem which the invention proposes to solve is to be able to increase the pressure, in order to give speed to the projectile
In particular, the problem which the invention proposes to solve is to increase the pressure at the level of the cartridge and not of the chamber receiving the projectile.
Pour résoudre un tel problème, il a été conçu et mis au point une munition comprenant un étui cylindrique dont l'une des extrémitésTo solve such a problem, it was designed and developed an ammunition comprising a cylindrical case of which one of the ends
15 fermée présente coaxialement une chambre concentrique apte à recevoir un moyen de propulsion d'un projectile logé dans ledit étui, le moyen de propulsion étant constitué par une cartouche "à blanc", logée dans un organe diffuseur, l'ensemble de la cartouche et de l'organe étant introduit15 closed coaxially has a concentric chamber capable of receiving a means of propelling a projectile housed in said case, the propulsion means consisting of a cartridge "blank", housed in a diffuser, the entire cartridge and of the organ being introduced
20 dans la chambre coaxiale de l'étui.20 in the coaxial chamber of the case.
L'organe diffuseur présente une chambre coaxiale dans laquelle est introduite la cartoucheThe diffuser member has a coaxial chamber into which the cartridge is introduced
2525
To solve the problem posed of avoiding any pressure build-up in the chamber, the chamber of the diffusing member is in communication with oversized lateral orifices arranged at the periphery and the sum of the sections of which exceeds the nominal diameter of said chamber.
From this basic design, the ammunition can fire any type of projectile made from solid bodies of flexible material, or 35 composed of flexible envelopes containing a liquid.
However, preferably, according to another characteristic of the invention, the projectile is constituted by a cylindrical body delimiting an internal volume capable of receiving "disperser" means capable of being released under the effect of destruction of said body, combination with a detonator subject to a retarder.
The detonator is mounted in a cylindrical housing formed coaxially at one of the ends of the body to be ignited by the gases of the cartridge - diffuser assembly.
Pour résoudre le problème posé de maintenir les moyens disperseurs à l'intérieur du coprs, l'extrémité du corps opposée à celle recevant le détonateur est obturée par un couvercleTo solve the problem of maintaining the dispersing means inside the body, the end of the body opposite to that receiving the detonator is closed by a cover.
To solve the problem posed of limiting the deviation of the trajectory of the projectile under the effect of the air thrust, the cover has concentric grooves and a non-opening central recess.
To solve the problem of promoting the bursting of the body, the latter has arrangements formed by grooves formed according to the generatrices of the body.
Advantageously, the dispersing means consist of CS powder, iron shot, liquid.
The invention is set out below in more detail using the appended drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a sectional view showing before assembly, the main components of the cartridge.

Figure 5 is a view corresponding to Figure 4 after mounting of the main elements of the projectile.
La figure 6 est une vue en coupe transversale considérée selon la ligne 6.6 de la figure 5.Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 6.6 of Figure 5.
La figure 7 est une vue en plan correspondant à la figureFigure 7 is a plan view corresponding to Figure
5.5.
Figure 8 is a view showing the projectile in the ammunition.
As shown in Figure 1, the ammunition comprises a cylindrical case (1) of flexible plastic material, not fragile at low temperatures in particular. One end of the case (1) is closed and has a concentric chamber (1a) coaxially adapted to receive a means for propelling a projectile (P). The projectile (P) is housed in the case (1), after its introduction through the opening (1b). The chamber (1a) has, over its entire length, a constant and uniform diameter.
According to the invention, the propulsion means comprises a blank cartridge (2) housed in a diffuser member (3). The assembly of the cartridge (2) and the diffuser (3) is introduced into the coaxial chamber (1a) from the case. The diffuser member (3) has an internal recess (3a) into which the blank cartridge (2) of any known and appropriate type is introduced. The internal recess (3a) is in communication with lateral orifices (3b) disposed peripherally at the end of the shutter member (3), opposite its open end for the introduction of the cartridge.
De manière importante, ces orifices (3b) sont surdimensionnés, de sorte que la somme de leur section dépasse le diamètre nominal du chambrage interne (3a).Importantly, these orifices (3b) are oversized, so that the sum of their section exceeds the nominal diameter of the internal recess (3a).
These provisions do not allow any rise in pressure in the chamber (3a) but only at the level of the cartridge (2).
Ce couvercle présente des rainures concentriquesAccording to another characteristic, the projectile (P) consists of a cylindrical body (4) delimiting an internal volume (4a), intended to receive dispersing means (6), such as CS powder, shot, liquid - A detonator subject to a retarder is mounted in a cylindrical housing (4b) formed coaxially at one end of the body (4). After introduction of the body (4) into the case (1), the detonator - retarder assembly is arranged in coaxial alignment with the cartridge (2) - diffuser (3) assembly, to be ignited by the gases from said cartridge. The cylindrical housing (4b) is formed coaxially with a bottom (4c) set back from the corresponding end of the cylindrical body (4). In contrast, the open end of the body (4) is closed by a cover (5). This cover has concentric grooves
The body (4) has longitudinal grooves (4d) formed according to its generatrices and shaped to constitute incipient fractures, in order to facilitate the bursting of the body under the effect of the action of the detonator.
The body (4) is introduced manually by the open end (1) of the case (1), being held there by moderate tightening.
Ammunition and projectile as defined and illustrated apply to any type of large caliber firearm, used in particular as a non-lethal defense weapon.
