Description

The invention relates to a cap for containers, in particular in the blow molding process made of plastic and filled and closed in the mold, which has the features of the preamble of claim 1.

For plastic bottles, the neck of which is provided with an external thread and is closed at its free end by a closure part formed in one piece with the neck, it is known to provide a cap screwed onto the neck with a centrally arranged mandrel with which the closure part penetrates can be. If the cap is removed after the cap has been pierced, the liquid in the bottle can be dispensed through the opening formed in the cap. Apart from the fact that if the thread of the bottle neck and / or the cap is not optimally shaped, or even if the mandrel is not optimally shaped, the thread pierced with the mandrel can occur Opening runs obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis, or that after removal of a partial quantity and subsequent screwing on of the cap, a second opening is pierced, with the result that the liquid may escape at several points in a direction deviating from the longitudinal axis, which is annoying , it depends on the pressure exerted on the liquid whether the liquid is released in more or less large drops or in the form of a jet. Furthermore, the size of the opening can change in the course of time if, after a portion of the bottle content has been removed, the neck is closed again with the cap and the mandrel is then reinserted into the opening. It is therefore difficult to dose the correct amount correctly.

A known cap of the type mentioned (DE-C-38 18 629) covers a dropper insert which engages with an annular, hollow cylindrical collar in the neck of the bottle. For a bottle whose neck is closed with a closure part to be removed or pierced until it is first removed, such a dropper insert is out of the question, the passage channel of which consists of a tapering conically in the outflow direction, a cylindrical second adjoining it Section, the diameter of which is approximately equal to its axial length and substantially smaller than that of the first section, a third section which widens conically in the outflow direction and a cylindrical fourth section adjoining the latter.

In another known cap (WO 82/00348) for a bottle, a transition section forming an end face adjoins the section receiving the neck, with which a spray nozzle is formed in one piece. This cap defines a dosing device inserted into the bottle with a ball valve, which makes it possible to dispense the contents of the bottle in the form of a dosed jet.

Diese Aufgabe löst eine Kappe mit den Merkmalen des Anspruches 1.The invention has for its object to enable easy removal of the liquid content of bottles in the form of individual drops of a defined size. This object is achieved by a cap having the features of claim 1.

Thanks to the portion of the cap according to the invention designed as a dropper, the dispensing of the liquid content of the bottle is not carried out by means of an opening formed by the bottle neck, but by means of the dropper of the cap. This dropper can easily be designed so that it forms drops of reproducible size regardless of the prevailing pressure and then reliably excludes the discharge in the form of a jet.

So that the cap according to the invention can be used for bottles, for example ampoules, which have a closure part which is initially to be provided with a passage opening, an end face is provided at the transition of the cap from the portion receiving the neck to the portion designed as a dropper, against which a Bottle protruding mandrel is formed, in which the passage channel of the dropper begins. The closure part can then be pierced by means of the mandrel as in the known caps with mandrel. Since the dropper is dosed, it is irrelevant in this case whether the opening in the closure part is formed exactly in the center and coaxially and whether its size deviates from the nominal value.

In order that the mandrel can have a sharp tip, the passage channel of the dropper has at least two end sections opening into the lateral surface of the mandrel, which end portions lie within the bottle neck when the cap is completely placed on the neck.

A very good reproducibility of the droplet size and a reliable prevention of a jet-like delivery of the bottle contents can be achieved with a passage channel of the dropper which, following a cylindrical section, has a section which widens conically in the outflow direction. These sections are preferably calibrated during manufacture by means of a calibration mandrel.

It is also possible to design the cap so that it can be arranged on the neck with the formation of a sliding seat. As a rule, however, the portion of the cap receiving the neck will be provided with an internal thread which is designed to correspond to an external thread of the neck.

In a preferred embodiment, a closure part is provided so that it can be removed from the section designed as a dropper, so that the passage channel of the dropper is protected. This closure part is preferably designed as a cup-shaped hood with an internal thread which corresponds to an external thread of the section designed as a dropper. A spigot can be formed centrally on the inner surface of the bottom of this hood, which can be inserted in a sealing manner into the passage channel of the dropper.

The invention is based on one in the drawing illustrated embodiment explained in detail.

The only embodiment shows, on an enlarged scale and partly in longitudinal section, the embodiment in the state placed on the neck of a bottle before the closure part of the neck is pierced.

A plastic cap designated as a whole as 1 has, as the figure shows, a first, hollow cylindrical section 2, which serves to accommodate the neck 3 of a bottle which, in the exemplary embodiment, was made from plastic in the blow molding process and was filled and closed in the blow mold is, the plate-shaped closure part 4 closing the neck 3 being formed in one piece with the neck 3. The neck 3 of the bottle, which can be an ampoule, is provided with an external thread 5. Between the bottle body 3 'and the end of the external thread 5 closer to it, the neck 3 has a cylindrical section 6, the external diameter of which is selected to be equal to that of the external thread 5. At the end of the cylindrical section 6 facing the bottle body 3 ', there is an annular bead 7 projecting slightly beyond this section. The diameter of this annular bead 7 is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the zone forming the free end of section 2.

The section 2 is provided with an internal thread which corresponds to the external thread 5 of the neck 3, but does not extend into the zone forming the free end section. The section 2 is adjoined on the side facing away from the bottle body 3 ', coaxially and in one piece, by a section designed as a dropper 8, which is provided with an external thread 9 and whose free end is rounded off in a hemispherical manner. A conical mandrel 10 is formed in the center of the inner end face 8 ′ of the dropper 8 present at the transition from the section 2 to the dropper 8, the tip of which points into the interior of the section 2. In the outer surface of this Mandrel 10 open end portions 11 of the passage channel which penetrates the dropper 8 coaxially with the mandrel 10 and which has a cylindrical central portion 12 following the end portions 11 and a conical portion 13 which widens towards the hemispherical end of the dropper 8. Both the central section 12 and the conical section 13 are calibrated during manufacture by means of a calibration mandrel. As the figure shows, the diameter of the central section 12 is significantly smaller than its axial length, which also applies to the conical section 13, which has a relatively small cone angle. In the exemplary embodiment, it is approximately 8 °. The design of the passage channel and in particular its two sections 12 and 13 can also be chosen differently, since it depends on the properties of the liquid, for example its viscosity and surface tension, as well as on the drop size and whether it is delivered in drop form or in the form of a Beam is desired.

To cover the dropper 8, a cup-shaped protective hood 14 is provided which, like the cap 1, is made of plastic. The protective hood 14 is provided with an internal thread corresponding to the external thread of the dropper 8 and extends almost up to the outer shoulder of the cap 1 formed at the transition from the section 2 to the dropper 8. As the figure shows, the protective hood 14 is in the center of the bottom the inside of which a pin 15 is integrally formed, which engages in the conical section 13 and closes it tightly when the protective hood 14 is screwed completely onto the dropper 8.

If the bottle with the cap 1 comes onto the market, the cap 1 is screwed onto the neck 3 so far that the free end of the section 2 extends up to the annular bead 7 of the neck 3, as the figure shows. This position can be easily recognized from the fact that when the cap 1 is screwed even further onto the neck 3, the section 2 comes into contact with the annular bead 7 and thus an increased torque is applied must become. When the cap 1 is screwed onto the neck 3 up to the annular bead 7, the mandrel 10 is in contact or almost in contact with the closure part 4. When the contents of the bottle are now to be removed, the cap 1 is completely on the neck 3 screwed on. Since in this case the mandrel 10 pierces the closure part 4 and the annular bead 7 also has to be overcome, a clearly noticeably increased torque must be applied, but this does not cause any difficulties thanks to the longitudinal corrugation of the outer surface area of the section 2. When the mandrel 10 has completely penetrated the closure part 4, its outer end face rests on the end face 8 ′ of the dropper 8 that supports the mandrel 10. In addition, the end portions 11 of the through-channel of the dropper open into the interior of the neck 3. Now only the protective hood 14 needs to be unscrewed in order to remove the contents of the bottle in the form of individual drops of a defined, reproducible size or, if the through-channel for dispensing liquid in Shape of a beam of a defined size is formed, can be removed in the form of a beam.
