Definitions
- the invention relates to a process for the production of buoyant hollow bodies made of clay, wherein a plaster mold which is closed except for a filling opening is filled with a flowable clay mass, a solid clay layer which depends on the residence time adhering to the inner surface of the plaster mold and which remains after pouring out the excess clay in the gypsum mold, it forms a hollow body which, after drying, is removed from the gypsum mold, glazed and fired,
- hollow bodies from clay are mostly animal replicas, such as frogs, ducks, fish or the like, which are placed in apartments as a decoration or collector's item.
- animal replicas such as frogs, ducks, fish or the like
- Such hollow bodies are generally buoyant despite their opening, but only to a limited extent, since they have a very unfavorable mass distribution and thus assume any arbitrary or unstable swimming position on the water. It can happen that their openings get below the water level and thus run full of water and sink. Closed hollow bodies in the form of an animal replica, on the other hand, assume such an unnatural floating position on the water that, as a rule, the hollow bodies are not placed on the water.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a method of the type described at the outset with which it is possible to produce buoyant hollow bodies made of clay which, when placed on the water, always assume a stable swimming position.
- this object is achieved with a method of the type described in the introduction in that after the hollow body has dried, it is preferably still filled in the plaster mold with a predetermined amount of clay and any residual clay is emptied again after the drying of a suitable amount of clay. wherein during the drying time the hollow body is rotated into such a position and held in such a way that said amount of clay mass dries out in a position which stabilizes the desired floating position.
- the method makes it possible to determine the later floating position of the hollow body during manufacture. If, for example, ducks are to be produced, the arrangement of the additional clay mass in the hollow body on the water can either take a prone position, or the swimming position can be determined such that the duck dips his head under the water level, for example.
- a plaster mold be used with a filling opening that leaves the underside of the hollow body open.
- the inlet opening can also be closed with the additional clay mass filled into the hollow body in the same position of the hollow body.
- a plaster mold be used with a filling opening that leaves the top of the hollow body open.
- the additional clay mass can be very easily filled into the hollow body, the filling opening need not be closed and can later serve, for example, to accommodate a small flower pot with a plant, whereby the floatable hollow body can simultaneously become a decorative planter.
- the object according to the invention based on a method of the type described in the introduction, is achieved in that a further clay mass with a suitable mass distribution is pre-modeled and attached to the underside of the hollow body to produce the desired floating position.
- a further clay mass with a suitable mass distribution is pre-modeled and attached to the underside of the hollow body to produce the desired floating position.
- the additional clay mass, but also the hollow body can advantageously be pre-modeled in large numbers, wherein the desired different floating positions of the hollow body can be taken into account. This greatly simplifies production.
- the filling opening of the hollow body is closed with the further clay.
- the filler openings are closed both on the underside and on the top by the additional clay mass, the hollow bodies, if they are not destroyed, are unsinkable and are therefore suitable, for example, as a decorative permanent trim of a garden pond.
- FIG. 1 schematically shows one half of a plaster mold 6 with which a hollow body 2 in the form of a duck can be produced.
- the first half of the plaster mold 6 forms, together with the second half, a filling opening 1 which leaves the underside 4 of the hollow body 2 open.
- the assembled plaster mold is completely filled with pourable clay mass through this filling opening 1.
- the plaster removes water from the filling, so that after a short time a solid clay bowl is formed, the wall thickness of which increases with the length of time the clay remains. When the desired wall thickness is reached, the excess clay is poured off.
- the further clay 3 can be poured into the hollow body 2.
- the plaster mold or the hollow body is rotated and held in the position in which the further clay mass 3 runs to the place and dries there, which stabilizes the desired swimming position due to the mass accumulation.
- the hollow body can be removed from the plaster mold, glazed and fired.
- the filling opening 1 of the hollow body can advantageously be closed at the same time with the further clay mass 3.
- FIG. 2 schematically shows one half of a plaster mold 6 'in which the hollow body is poured through a filling opening 1' which leaves the top 8 of the hollow body 2 'open.
- the shape of a duck is shown here as a hollow body.
- the further clay mass 3 ' is not arranged in a lower region 5 for determining and stabilizing the floating position, but in a front region 10 below it 11 duck's head. In this way, for example, the duck shown in FIG. 2 will dive with its head below the water level, while the duck shown in FIG. 1 swims in a prone position.
- a hollow body 2 ′′ which was produced in a plaster mold 6 ′ with a filling opening 1 ′ that leaves the top of the hollow body open, does not need to be closed. If, as shown in FIG. 1, the further clay mass 3 is arranged in the lower region 5 of the hollow body 2 ′′, the hollow body or the duck, when placed on the water, takes up a prone position, which makes it possible to make a smaller one Place a flower pot with a plant in the opening 9 of the hollow body 2 ′′ determined by the fill opening and let it float on the water with the hollow body. In addition, through the opening 9 located on the top 8 of the hollow body 2 ′′, it is also possible to use the hollow body as a decorative planter.
- the further clay mass 3 ′′ in large numbers and the pre-modeled further clay mass 3 ′′ from the outside to a lower side 4 or in a lower region 5 of the Attach hollow body 2 '' '.
- a desired later floating position of the hollow body 2 '' ' can already be taken into account by a corresponding mass distribution in the pre-modeled further clay mass 3' '.
- duck feet are attached in a suitable area of the underside of the duck in such a way that the duck assumes the desired swimming position on the water.
- the invention thus proposes a method with which it is possible to produce floatable hollow bodies which, when placed on the water, always assume a desired swimming position and maintain it.
- a hollow body produced by the process can be placed, for example, in the form of animal replicas such as ducks, frogs or fish, as a closed hollow body as permanent trim for decoration on garden ponds or as an open one Hollow bodies with an opening on the top pick up a flower pot with a plant and carry it on the water.
- floatable hollow bodies with an opening on the top are also suitable as decorative planters.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for the production of buoyant hollow bodies made of clay, wherein a plaster mold which is closed except for a filling opening is filled with a flowable clay mass, a solid clay layer which depends on the residence time adhering to the inner surface of the plaster mold and which remains after pouring out the excess clay in the gypsum mold, it forms a hollow body which, after drying, is removed from the gypsum mold, glazed and fired,
The production of hollow bodies from clay is known. These hollow bodies are mostly animal replicas, such as frogs, ducks, fish or the like, which are placed in apartments as a decoration or collector's item. Such hollow bodies are generally buoyant despite their opening, but only to a limited extent, since they have a very unfavorable mass distribution and thus assume any arbitrary or unstable swimming position on the water. It can happen that their openings get below the water level and thus run full of water and sink. Closed hollow bodies in the form of an animal replica, on the other hand, assume such an unnatural floating position on the water that, as a rule, the hollow bodies are not placed on the water.
The invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a method of the type described at the outset with which it is possible to produce buoyant hollow bodies made of clay which, when placed on the water, always assume a stable swimming position.
According to the invention, this object is achieved with a method of the type described in the introduction in that after the hollow body has dried, it is preferably still filled in the plaster mold with a predetermined amount of clay and any residual clay is emptied again after the drying of a suitable amount of clay. wherein during the drying time the hollow body is rotated into such a position and held in such a way that said amount of clay mass dries out in a position which stabilizes the desired floating position. This makes it possible to produce a hollow body which, when placed on the water, always assumes a desired stable swimming position.
In addition, the method makes it possible to determine the later floating position of the hollow body during manufacture. If, for example, ducks are to be produced, the arrangement of the additional clay mass in the hollow body on the water can either take a prone position, or the swimming position can be determined such that the duck dips his head under the water level, for example.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that a plaster mold be used with a filling opening that leaves the underside of the hollow body open. Advantageously, the inlet opening can also be closed with the additional clay mass filled into the hollow body in the same position of the hollow body.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that a plaster mold be used with a filling opening that leaves the top of the hollow body open. As a result, the additional clay mass can be very easily filled into the hollow body, the filling opening need not be closed and can later serve, for example, to accommodate a small flower pot with a plant, whereby the floatable hollow body can simultaneously become a decorative planter.
According to an alternative, the object according to the invention, based on a method of the type described in the introduction, is achieved in that a further clay mass with a suitable mass distribution is pre-modeled and attached to the underside of the hollow body to produce the desired floating position. In this way, the additional clay mass, but also the hollow body, can advantageously be pre-modeled in large numbers, wherein the desired different floating positions of the hollow body can be taken into account. This greatly simplifies production.
Furthermore, it is proposed according to an embodiment of the invention that the filling opening of the hollow body is closed with the further clay. Characterized in that the filler openings are closed both on the underside and on the top by the additional clay mass, the hollow bodies, if they are not destroyed, are unsinkable and are therefore suitable, for example, as a decorative permanent trim of a garden pond.

Hierdurch wird beispielsweise die in Figur 2 gezeigte Ente mit ihrem Kopf unterhalb des Wasserspiegels tauchen, während die in Figur 1 gezeigte Ente in einer Bauchlage schwimmt.FIG. 2 schematically shows one half of a plaster mold 6 'in which the hollow body is poured through a filling opening 1' which leaves the
As shown schematically in FIG. 3, a
In addition, through the opening 9 located on the
According to an embodiment of the method according to the invention, it is also possible, as shown in FIG. 4, to prefabricate the
The invention thus proposes a method with which it is possible to produce floatable hollow bodies which, when placed on the water, always assume a desired swimming position and maintain it. A hollow body produced by the process can be placed, for example, in the form of animal replicas such as ducks, frogs or fish, as a closed hollow body as permanent trim for decoration on garden ponds or as an open one Hollow bodies with an opening on the top pick up a flower pot with a plant and carry it on the water. In addition, floatable hollow bodies with an opening on the top are also suitable as decorative planters.
