Description

The invention relates to an optoelectronic component according to the preamble of the main claim.

Such a component is known from WO-A-8 910 607. The entire component forms a flexible, illuminable sign and is constructed overall like a sandwich. A conductive layer, which is coated with phosphorus, is applied to a non-conductive substrate layer. A conductive film is applied over the phosphor layer, on which there is a conductor track. The conductor track and the conductive layer between the phosphor layer and the substrate are electrically contacted. The entire arrangement is enclosed in a transparent encapsulation. This encapsulation is accommodated in a transparent protective housing such that a mask can be inserted between the encapsulation and the protective housing, on which symbols to be illuminated are left out.

In the manufacture of illuminable switches and display components for the interior of motor vehicles, for which the sign described would be considerably too expensive, the procedure used hitherto has been to open the outlet opening, for example of a switch element, through which a commercially available LED (light-emitting diode) comes Light passes through, covered with elaborate cover elements in the desired colors in order to at least partially achieve a desired color, the generation of which was not possible directly by means of an LED. The resulting elaborate Switch constructions, for example the actuating elements of switches, pushbuttons and the like, which can be provided with symbols and the like, for example, and which should be recognizable to the user, for example, in the dark or in certain dangerous situations, are therefore extremely complex to construct and manufacture , since the light-transparent element is procedurally very complicated with the non-light-transparent part, for example, the above-mentioned actuating element of a switch, button or the like. Connected and must also be formed light-tight at the connecting edges.

In addition, this constructive embodiment of such an LED-illuminated actuating element of a switch, button or the like. The disadvantage that the light losses are very large, since only a considerably smaller part of the light from the cover element compared to that of the LED due to scattering and reflection emitted light emerges to the outside, ie is perceptible by the driver of a motor vehicle or the like.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an optoelectronic component with which it is possible to illuminate elements to be illuminated, such as switches, buttons and the like. The like. Simple to design, to reduce the manufacturing costs, to make separate cover elements unnecessary and to avoid light losses that had previously been accepted.

This object is achieved with the features of the main claim.

In the component according to the invention, the body of the LED and the light-transparent element form a unit, so that no light losses occur. By adapting the light-transparent element accordingly, any commercially available and correspondingly inexpensive LED can be used to a large extent. The component which is designed completely with the symbol or in its contour as a symbol can be used directly be used in an actuating element of a switch, push button and the like, with the advantageous consequence that, in principle, no further measures need to be taken to hold the LED or to ensure that the light losses normally to be expected with a separate arrangement below one Actuator of a switch, button or the like. To be kept to an acceptable minimum.

In a very advantageous, yet different embodiment of the component, the light-transparent element has at least one zone which is designed in the form of a symbol with respect to its externally visible contour, the part of the element surrounding the zone being non-light-transparent. In such a configuration of the component, for example, the element itself is wholly or partly formed by an actuating element of a switch, a pushbutton or the like, the body of the LED with the light-transparent zone of the element in the form of a symbol being initially used in one or more immediately successive injection molding process steps is produced and subsequently the non-light-transparent part of the element. This configuration of the component allows on the one hand a very cost-effective producibility and on the other hand it enables high miniaturization, for example, of actuating elements of switches, buttons and the like, which can be illuminated at one or more points, for example the actuating elements of so-called window regulator switches in motor vehicles.

In addition to predetermined other colors, the light-transparent element can advantageously be white, which also applies to the design of the component in which only the zone is light-transparent is trained. In principle, however, in this configuration the zone can also advantageously have a predetermined other suitable, desired color.

A connection of the light-transparent element, which advantageously consists of plastic, to the body of the LED by injection molding can be carried out in large numbers in a particularly cost-effective manner.

Alternatively, the connection between the light-transparent element and the body of the LED can be made by gluing.

The component 10 according to the invention is basically formed by an optoelectronic component with luminescent radiation-emitting properties, generally with a luminescent diode, light-emitting diode or, in short LED (Light Emitting Diode) is called. By applying an operating voltage, the semiconductor diode is caused in a known manner to spontaneously emit luminescent radiation in the region of the pn junction, which is generally known and need not be described further here. LEDs 10 are available in a wide variety of constructive configurations, so that the enlarged side view in FIG. 1 (approx. 10 times enlarged) is only to be understood as an exemplary representation, ie without a restrictive constructive character of the component 10 to the representation shown in FIG. 1.

The component 10 has, in addition to a body 12, which as a rule partially but also entirely consists of light-transparent plastic, has two connections 11 which serve for the voltage supply in a known manner. In the component 10 proposed here, the light-transparent part 13 of the body 12 of the component 10 is at least partially surrounded by an at least partially light-transparent element. The light-transparent part 13 of the body 12 and the element 14 lie on top of one another in such a way that the two elements are in contact with one another, with the exclusion of a gap between their surfaces.

Light 16 can thus directly enter the light-transparent element 14 on the outlet side of the body 12 and, as indicated in FIG. 1, leave it to the outside.

The light-transparent element 14 itself can consist of injection-moldable plastic, so that it can be used directly, for example, using an injection molding process can be sprayed onto the light-transparent part 13 of the body 12 and thus a unit of light-transparent element 14 and the actual optoelectronic component 10 is formed quasi by this process.

In the embodiment of the component 10 shown in FIG. 2, the actual optoelectronic component has been omitted for reasons of clarity. There, shown in the side view, the light-transparent element 14 is designed such that it is designed in relation to its externally visible contour in the form of a symbol 15, here in the form of an arrow, which is apparent from FIG. 3, the one shows rotated by 90⁰ compared to the representation of FIG. 2 in the plan view, results. In this case, the light-transparent element 14 can be white, for example, so that to a certain degree a white light portion of the light 16 leaving the light-transparent element 14 is formed. In principle, however, any predetermined colors can be selected in the formation of the light-transparent element, regardless of whether an embodiment according to FIG. 1 or according to FIGS. 2 and 3 is selected.

With regard to the representations of the component 10 according to FIGS. 2 and 3, it can be stated that the light-transparent element 14 can also be designed in such a way that it has at least one zone which, in terms of its externally visible contour, is in the form of a symbol 15 is formed, while the part of the element 14 surrounding the zone is not transparent to light, ie that would be the area of the element 14 in the illustration according to FIG. 3 which lies outside the symbol 15. It is then also with this configuration possible that the light-transparent element 14 formed by the zone, ie the actual symbol 15, downward, cf. Fig. 2, extended to the component 10 (not shown), so that the component 10 emits its light directly into the light-transparent zone of the element 14, ie in the area of the symbol 15, while the part surrounding the zone is opaque.

It is also pointed out that the shape of the element 14 shown in the figures, which is at least partially transparent to light, can also be of any suitable design, ie the shapes shown only schematically symbolize the element 14, without the design of the element 14 is limited to this. For example, the element 14 can form the actuating element of a so-called window lifter switch, as is used, for example, in automobile construction for lifting and lowering the windows in motor vehicles for actuating them.
