Abstract

Two profile pieces (1a, 1b) of identical cross-section adjoin one another by means of a coupling piece (16) which lies in a coupling groove (15) so as to overlap both of them. The convexly curved bottom of the coupling groove (15) is formed by the underside of a transverse web (5), the top side of which forms a running surface (6) for supporting rollers (13) of running gears (10). The coupling groove (15) is limited downwards by lateral holding strips (18a, b) which have plane, inwardly inclined holding faces (19a, b) which point towards the bottom of the coupling groove (15) and against which press corresponding contact strips (20a, b) of the coupling piece (16) which is braced against the holding strips (18a, b) of each of the profile pieces (1a, 1b) by means of two respective tapping screws (17a-d) pressing against the bottom of the coupling groove (15). The coupling groove (15) is followed at the bottom by a guide groove (9) for receiving guide rollers (14a). For the purpose of allowing an especially stable connection of the profile pieces, for example in the case of a rail supported only at particular points by means of sliding blocks (23) which are arranged in a fastening groove and into which threaded bolts (25) engage, the profile pieces can be provided with two coupling grooves (15, 15') arranged at a distance one above the other. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a rail according to the preamble of claim 1. Such rails are used to guide drives which carry sliding doors, such as exterior or interior doors on buildings or furniture doors.

The rails consist of several straight or curved, usually extruded profile pieces of the same cross-section made of metal, usually aluminum. The connection of successive profile pieces often presents certain difficulties, since they should be congruent to one another at the butt joints, but at the same time the connection should be quick and easy to produce during assembly.

From DE-U-84 09 917 a generic rail is known with two coupling pieces, which are each designed as a tab of rectangular cross-section and are received by coupling grooves, which are arranged in the upper and lower area of the profile pieces to be connected. Each coupling groove has two holding surfaces which project over the respective coupling piece on both sides and which lie in one plane.

Such a design of coupling grooves and coupling pieces allows a quick and easy assembly of the adjoining profile pieces transversely to the plane given by the holding surfaces, but is because the coupling piece in the coupling groove some lateral play in order to be able to be introduced, a precise alignment parallel to said plane is not readily given. However, this is annoying, especially if, in addition to the tread, it is also inclined with respect to it - e.g. B. vertical - guide surfaces for guide rollers are available. Steps caused by inaccurate alignment of the profile pieces at the joint are usually sharp-edged and lead to rapid wear and destruction of plastic rollers in drives. In view of the long service life of the rollers and the low maintenance requirements of the drives, it is crucial that such steps can be avoided.

The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a generic rail in which successive profile pieces can be connected simply, quickly and precisely in such a way that the abutting profile pieces are completely covered.

This object is achieved by the invention as characterized in claim 1. In the rail according to the invention, successive profile pieces at the butt joints are not only very easy to connect - essentially by tightening a few screws - the connection also ensures that the profile pieces are exactly aligned without additional measures in two directions and are independent between adjoining surfaces There are no steps in the alignment that could reduce the lifespan of the same running reel.

The invention, in that it teaches a fully satisfactory connection between rail pieces, as was previously not available, in very far-reaching advantages in that it is now possible, and not only straight, but also curved rail pieces of certain fixed angles, preferably with straight end pieces, to be kept in stock and instead of having to manufacture rails with curved sections by welding to size, as before, the same on site from such prefabricated pieces, which at the most can still be installed must be shortened - which means no difficulty - to put together.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, a rail comprises two profile pieces 1 a, b made of extruded aluminum, which have the same cross section and are connected to one another at a butt joint 2. The profile piece 1a - the profile piece 1b is of identical design - has a fastening flange 3, which can be screwed to a ceiling or a beam or otherwise fastened. Connected laterally to the mounting flange 3 is a vertical support flange 4, which carries a horizontal crossbar 5, the surface of which forms a running surface 6 and from which two laterally arranged parallel guide webs 7a, b project downwards, the inner surfaces of which form guide surfaces 8a, b which enclose a guide groove 9 between them (FIG. 2).

The rail serves to guide drives such as the drive 10, which has a tab 12 on a base plate 11, on which a support roller 13 made of plastic a horizontal axis is rotatably attached. On the base plate 11, two guide rollers 14a, b are also mounted so as to be rotatable about vertical axes, which engage in the guide groove 9.

A door can be suspended from the base plates 11 of two drives (not shown), specifically in such a way that the base plate 11 can be rotated about a vertical axis with respect to the door. In this way, the drives can easily follow curved rail sections. The guide rollers 14a, b not only hold the support roller 13 on the running surface 6, but also steer them in such a way that their axis remains aligned perpendicular to the running direction everywhere.

17c,d verbunden.According to the invention, the profile piece 1a above the guide groove 9 has a coupling groove 15 which is also laterally delimited by the guide webs 7a, b and which receives an elongated coupling piece 16 in the region of the joint 2. The bottom of the coupling groove 15, which is convexly curved, is formed by the underside of the crosspiece 5 and is approximately parallel to the running surface 6, which it lies opposite. The coupling piece 16 has four bores directed perpendicularly against the bottom of the coupling groove 15 and thus perpendicularly to the running surface 6, into which self-tapping screws 17a, b, c, d are screwed (FIG. 3), the cutting edges of which press against the bottom of the coupling groove 15. The part of the coupling piece 16 which overlaps one of the profile pieces 1a, b is connected to the same in each case by means of two self-tapping screws 17a, b and 17c, d.

Thus, the coupling piece 16 is braced against lateral holding strips 18a, b, which limit the coupling groove downwards and overlap the coupling piece 15, and in fact the surfaces of the holding strips 18a, b pointing towards the bottom of the coupling groove 15, which are flat, in opposite directions somewhat inwards, that is, towards the bottom of the coupling groove 15, form inclined holding surfaces 19a, b, against correspondingly designed contact strips 20a, b on the underside of the coupling piece 16 (FIG. 2a). This type of connection ensures, under the easily feasible condition that the distance between the holding surfaces 19a, b and the running surface 6 is the same for both profile pieces 1a and 1b, that the running surface at the joint 2 has no step.

The step freedom of the tread is already ensured in that the forces acting between the holding surfaces 19a, b of the profile pieces 1a, b and the contact strips 20a, b of the coupling piece 16, which ensure the alignment of the profile pieces 1a and 1b relative to the coupling piece 16, have a component perpendicular to the tread 6, which is achieved in particular by appropriate alignment of the axes of the tapping screws 17a, b, c, d.

In the case shown, however, there are also guide surfaces 8a, b which form a right angle with the running surface 6 and for which a stepless transition at the joint 2 is also to be ensured. This requires that the profile pieces 1a, b adjoin one another exactly at the joint 2 and that their relative position transversely to the running direction is precisely controlled both in the vertical and in the horizontal direction.

This is achieved by the opposite inclinations of the holding surfaces 19a, b and the corresponding inclinations of the contact strips 20a, b, which cause the coupling piece 16 to be exactly centered with respect to each of the two profile pieces 1a, b. This ensures an exact mutual alignment of the latter also in the horizontal direction achieved so that a stepless connection of the guide surfaces 8a, b is also ensured, provided that they are only positioned identically with respect to the coupling groove 15 only in the case of two profile pieces 1a, b.

The self-tapping screws 17a, b, c, d, if they cut something into the aluminum profile pieces 1a, b, form a very secure connection between the same and the coupling piece 16, in particular they prevent mutual slipping in the running direction and thus ensure that no gap is formed between the profile pieces 1a, b at the joint 2.

The configuration shown, in which the coupling groove 15 is arranged directly below the running surface 6 and the guide groove 9 adjoins it at the bottom, is not only particularly space-saving, it also has the advantage that the parts which ensure the precise alignment of adjoining profile pieces and those Their precise matching is particularly important, being close to each other locally, so that deformations or manufacturing tolerances can hardly affect this matching.

According to the second embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the profile piece 1a has a second crossbar 5 'projecting above the running surface 6 parallel to the crossbar 5 from the supporting flange 4, on the upper side of which a second coupling groove 15' open to the top for receiving a second coupling member 16 ' is installed in the area of a joint. The second coupling groove 15 'and the first coupling groove 15 are vertically offset from one another, preferably arranged directly one above the other and - like the coupling pieces - 16, 16' - the same as in the first embodiment. Through the second coupling point the connection of the profile pieces receives a particularly high stability and strength.

This is of particular advantage if the rail is not fastened continuously, for example by means of a fastening flange, but only at larger intervals. For such an attachment, the profile piece 1a is prepared by an attachment groove 21 provided on its upper side, which is laterally overhanged by attachment strips 22a, b. The fastening groove 21 is arranged particularly cheaply and space-saving directly above the second coupling groove 15 '.

The rail can be suspended on sliding blocks 23 inserted into the fastening groove 21, each of which has a threaded bore 24 into which a threaded bolt 25 engages. The threaded bolt 25 carries a nut 26 above the sliding block 23, such that the fastening strips 22a, b are clamped between the latter and the sliding block 23 and can thus be connected to the profile piece 1a in a non-displaceable manner, while with the nut 26 loosened, the profile piece 1a and the sliding block 23 are displaceable against each other.
