Definitions

  • the invention relates to a cover rail for wall or floor coverings, in particular for those made of ceramic material, with a blade-like, under or up to 1.5 mm thick fastening leg, which is provided with openings and the thickness of which tapers from the leg merging to its free end , as well as with an end leg, which has a greater thickness than the fastening leg, the end leg rising from the end of the fastening leg and with its free end to the inside of the profile describes a protrusion.
  • an end rail is known. It consists of an end rail and a fastening leg consisting of an end rail which is guided at right angles to one another and whose leg is less than 1.5 mm thick and provided with openings. The end leg tilts in a quarter circle on the fastening leg and ends at a greater thickness than this in a development directed towards it.
  • an end rail is known from EP-A 0 449 732. It has a fastening leg and an end leg. Openings are arranged in the fastening leg. Its thickness tapers towards the end. The connecting leg, however, has a greater thickness. Its outer wall describes a quarter circle, while its inner wall consists of two angled straight partial surfaces. In front of the end leg, a triangular wall is arranged on the fastening leg.
  • the disadvantage is that the triangular wall and the quarter-circle-shaped end leg creates a cavity that only absorbs mortar, has it zigzag and removes it from the adhesive, so that it leads to an imperfect connection between the end rail and the floor and wall coverings the mortar is coming. This leads to signs of detachment under mechanical stress and under thermal movement.
  • An end rail is known from EP-A-3 394 036. Its narrow fastening leg has openings. Adhesion-increasing structures are arranged on its top and bottom. It is tapered towards its free end. An essentially quarter-circle-shaped end leg rises from the fastening leg. It ends with a corrugated, vertical surface.
  • the quarter-circle-shaped end limb also has a disadvantageous effect on this end rail, so that it leads to the detachment phenomena already described can come.
  • a closing rail which consists of a narrow fastening leg and a thicker end leg.
  • the fastening leg has openings.
  • the end leg is arranged in an E-shape on the fastening leg.
  • the outer surface of the end leg protrudes vertically upwards from the fastening leg and is then angled from the middle to the uppermost E-web.
  • the inner wall has a similar design and is inclined overall so that the middle leg projects above the lower and the upper leg extends towards the middle leg.
  • a cover rail shows the CH-A-652 163.
  • the angle profile shown in this previously published patent is used to close floor or wall coverings made of ceramic material.
  • the end leg has an inward widening, approximately rectangular in cross section.
  • a disadvantage of the known rail is that the volume of mortar to lie between the end leg, the widening and the fastening leg has only a relatively small contact with the laying of the ceramic floor and wall coverings to the inner surface of the end leg and moreover a very close contact in the course of the contact surface An angle between the widening and the end leg results, which experience has shown to lead to mortar detachment under mechanical stress and under heat movement.
  • a corner connector which consists of two end rails which are connected to one another by a semicircular arch.
  • a rib is arranged on each side of the corner connector, on which the tiles are laid and fastened.
  • the rib divides the space for receiving fixing mortar into two chambers. This can lead to the fact that not every chamber is completely filled with mortar and the tile detaches due to the lack of adhesive forces.
  • the end leg does not form an L-shaped configuration towards the free end, but is curved in a parabolic manner so that the mortar mass can nestle under the bend of the end leg.
  • the width of the overhang is variable.
  • a supernatant is usually used which is 2 to 4 times the thickness of the end leg.
  • a relatively small protrusion and at smaller end legs a relatively large projection is selected, each relative to the thickness of the end leg.
  • the holding web can end in a thickening, preferably in an L or T configuration.
  • This retaining web should have the same or a slightly less protrusion than the end leg.
  • the end leg In order to have a perfect finish and the edges of the adjoining ceramic plates not too strongly stressed, the end leg should end in a flat, vertical end surface. It is of course also possible that the end surface is corrugated.
  • the end rail is preferably made of hard PVC. However, it should not be excluded that metals, preferably brass, are also used.
  • blade-like refers to the fact that the fastening leg is below a ceramic tile is to be installed when laying thin beds. It has been shown that the leg should therefore be approximately 1.5 mm thick. It can also taper towards the free end and thus achieve improved strength while saving material.
  • FIG. 1 shows an enlarged representation of an end rail 1 compared to conventional designs. Usual heights of the rails correspond to the construction heights of the floor coverings; realistic heights are therefore 8, 10 or 12 mm and the like.
  • the illustrated end rail 1 has a blade-like, ie relatively thin and long fastening leg 2.
  • the fastening leg 2 tapers from the leg junction 4 to his free end. Even at the thickest point, its thickness is equal to or less than 1.5 mm.
  • the fastening leg is provided with openings 7, which serve to improve the passage of mortar or adhesive when laying.
  • an end leg 3 is provided, which is made in one piece with the fastening leg, for example as an extruded profile made of hard PVC.
  • the end leg 3 has a greater thickness than the fastening leg 2, the end leg 3 rising from the end of the fastening leg 1 and with its free end toward the inside of the profile describing an overhang U.
  • the end leg 3 has a parabolic curved outer wall 3.2 and a parallel curved inner wall 3.3.
  • the outer tangent T on the outer wall 3.2 initially has an angle ⁇ of 90 ° with respect to the outer side 2.1 of the fastening leg. If the tangent moves further upwards, the angle ⁇ becomes smaller and smaller until it finally approaches 0 °, i.e. at the end there is a horizontal apex 3.4.
  • the protrusion U measured from the inside angle of the leg merging 4, is in the present case about three times the thickness of the end leg.
  • the end leg ends in a flat, vertical end surface 3.5. In the aforementioned embodiment, the end leg ends at its end without further thickening. However, it should not be ruled out that a thickening is provided here for optical or reasons of stability, for example in an L or T configuration.
  • a retaining web 6 protruding from the inner wall of the end leg and parallel to the upper side of the fastening leg is provided.
  • the retaining web has a T-shaped end thickening 6.1.
  • the retaining web 6 has a slightly smaller projection than the end leg 3. This results in a thicker layer of mortar between the outer edge of a flooring element 10 (e.g. tile) and the retaining web (see FIG. 3).
  • Hard PVC other plastics, possibly glass fiber reinforced plastics, but also metals, preferably brass, are suitable as the material for the end rail. In principle, all materials can be used that are already known for the production of such end rails.
  • Figure 2 shows the top rail in plan view. It can be seen that the end leg 3 protrudes relatively far to the inside of the profile.
  • Figure 3 shows a typical laying situation.
  • a floor covering element here a tile 10
  • a tile 10 is embedded in mortar 11.
  • a relatively thin layer is provided between the edge of the tile 10 and the end face.
  • a relatively large amount of mortar fills the cavity lying under the overhang of the end leg, in which the retaining web 6 is embedded anchored.
  • an end rail 101 is shown. It consists of a fastening leg 102 which merges into a closing leg 103.
  • the fastening leg 102 tapers from the end leg 103 towards its free end. It has a length of approximately 20 to 25 mm in relation to a height of between 6 and 15 mm of the end leg 103.
  • the height of the end leg 103 is specifically determined by the respective height of the floor coverings.
  • the end limb 103 has a parabolically curved outer wall 103.2.
  • the outer tangent of the outer wall 103.2 has an angle of 90 ° on the fastening leg 102 with respect to an outer side 102.1 of the fastening leg 102.
  • the outer wall 103.2 slopes into a horizontally tapering apex surface 103.4.
  • the apex surface 103.4 is thus a flat surface lying essentially parallel to the underside 102.1 of the fastening leg 102.
  • a corrugated, vertically running end surface 103.5 in which the end leg 103 ends.
  • An inner wall 103.3 runs parallel to the outer wall 103.2.
  • a retaining web 106 is arranged approximately in the middle of the inner wall 103.3 and merges into a rounded thickening.
  • the side surfaces of the holding web 106 it is also possible for the side surfaces of the holding web 106 to run parallel to one another and to end with a half or partial rounding toward the front.
  • the free inner wall 103.3 has grooves 105.2 on its free surface.
  • the fastening leg 102 is provided with openings 107. They serve the passage of fasteners in the form of mortar, glue or the like to enable so as to facilitate installation and to ensure that the end rail is held. In order to further improve adhesion to the subsurface, the fastening leg 102 is provided with grooves 105.1 on its underside 102.1.
  • the fastening leg 102 in the region of a leg junction 104 has approximately the same cross section as the adjoining fastening leg 103.
  • the leg junction 104 can be angular or rounded. If the leg merging 104 is rounded, this rounding merges into the rounded groove 102 in order to then merge into the retaining web 106 via a partial surface of the inner wall 103 running parallel to the outer wall.
  • the opposite surface of the retaining web 106 likewise ends in a rounded manner in the next straight surface of the inner wall 103.
  • the region between the remaining straight inner wall 103 and the adjoining region of the corrugated end surface is likewise provided with a fillet. Of course, it is also possible that all curves are single or polygonal.
  • the forwardly protruding projection U and the special design of the inner wall 103.3 of the end limb 103 enable mortar 111 to penetrate into the free area to the edge of a tile 110.
  • the corrugated end surface 103.5 also ensures good adhesive strength. It is ensured that the end face 103.5 is very narrow rest on the tile 110 and on the other hand so much mortar can be taken up that a completely secure adhesion is present. With the flat apex surface 103.4 there is also a flush seal with the outer surface of the tile 110.
  • the end rail 101 intimately the fastener z. B. integrated in the form of mortar 111, the inner wall 103.3 or the bottom 102.1 with its openings 107 does not separate smoothly from the mortar 111, but rather strains it so much that it tears apart.
  • the adhesiveness of the entire end rail 101 to the tile 110 is determined by the fastening properties of the fastening element, for example in the form of mortar 111 or the like.
  • a closure rail 101 of the described embodiment can in principle be produced from all materials that are conceivable for such closure rails.
  • Hard PVC, other plastics, glass fiber reinforced plastics, metals, preferably brass, steel and the like are particularly suitable.
