Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for pneumatic weft insertion on air jet weaving machines, according to which the weft threads of a predetermined length after being released by a thread stopper are inserted from a main nozzle into the weft insertion channel of a reed and by means of relay nozzles arranged over the weaving width, which advance the head region of the respective weft thread by means of a pneumatic transport medium. act in the manner of a flow or transport hiking field and thus transport the weft thread through the weft thread insertion channel at an insertion speed which builds up a thread pulling force.
- the relay nozzles are pressurized when the weft tip comes into their area, and the relay nozzles are no longer pressurized when the weft tip leaves their area, with the exception of one or more relay nozzles distributed over the width of the weave, which still fly after the weft tip be pressurized until the weft has flown through the weaving width.
- This process sequence leads to tension peaks in the final phase of the weft insertion Weft and subsequently to the so-called thread break, ie the weft breaks.
- the weft thread is not inserted at the required speed, ie the velocity (V L ) of the fluid generating the thread pull force and the number of relay nozzles involved in the weft thread insertion are too small, loops and a low thread tension can be expected.
- first relay nozzles of a relay nozzle row be controlled in such a way that a basic or first air flow for inserting the weft thread into the shed is generated and then second relay nozzles of the relay nozzle row are controlled such that the latter relay nozzles emit an additional or second air flow , which generates the tension force on the weft.
- the air flow of the first relay nozzles has a speed that almost corresponds to the weft insertion speed specified in the program.
- the air flow of the second relay nozzles has a significantly higher air speed than the specified entry speed.
- the object is achieved in that the air flow of the relay nozzles, which transports the weft thread through the weft thread insertion channel of the reed in a manner known per se, acts on the beginning or front region of the weft thread in the manner of a transport migration field.
- the thread transport hiking field is switched off. This briefly reduces the air flow velocity (V L ) influencing the thread pulling force (F G ) and the weft thread is only transported due to its inherent dynamics. The weft is accordingly in a relatively untensioned condition.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 denote the groups of relay nozzles arranged over the weaving width of the weaving machine.
- Groups I to VI form the weft transport hiking field 2 for the tip of the weft thread 1.
- the individual relay nozzle groups act as traction nozzles. As soon as the thread tip of a relay nozzle group, e.g. I has left, the air supply to the weft is cut off and the transport from the next following relay nozzle group II is taken over.
- the relay nozzle groups I to VI are thus fed like a relay under a predetermined pressure (p) transport medium, preferably air, via a well-known pneumatic control, the air flowing at a predetermined speed (V L ) out of the individual nozzles of each relay relay group and pulls the weft 1 through the weft insertion channel, not shown here, of the reed of a weaving machine.
- p predetermined pressure
- V L predetermined speed
- FIG. 1 illustrates the known weft transport through the entry channel in the reed.
- the pneumatic weft thread entry takes place with only a single traveling field, the weft transport path 2.
- the relay nozzle groups I to VI are switched on and off one after the other.
- the weft thread 1 which is shown here as a straight line in the diagram in FIG. 1, arrives at the output side of the reed at point 3 with a relatively high entry speed; This is also due to the momentum given to it by the relay-like acceleration across the weaving width. It is therefore not necessary to stretch the weft thread by switching on the relay nozzle groups again.
- Different thread or yarn qualities and in particular the aforementioned dynamic momentum of the weft threads often lead to so-called weft thread breaks in this process sequence and then to the weaving machine being switched off.
- Figure 2 shows the pneumatic weft insertion according to the invention.
- the relay nozzle groups I to VI are plotted over the weave width (x) on the abscissa of FIG. 2 and the blowing duration (t) is plotted on the ordinate.
- the tip or the front part of the weft thread 1 to be inserted is detected by the first effective relay nozzles of the first relay nozzle group I.
- the blowing duration is maintained until t 1.
- the group II is turned on at a time t'1, the blowing duration of which is maintained until the time t2.
- Group III is turned on at the time t'2.
- the blowing duration (t) and the rhythm of switching the individual relay nozzle groups on and off remain constant. That remains constant up to this relay nozzle group Air flow velocity (V L ) of the individual relay nozzles of the group in question.
- the remaining groups V to VI are switched on with a shorter blowing time (t) and a reduced air flow speed (V Lred. ) Compared to the aforementioned groups.
- the weft thread has such a dynamic that it is possible to easily reach the intended end point 3 in the weft insertion channel of the reed at a reduced air flow speed.
- the weft thread 1 is thus at least within the end region of the weft insertion channel in an undrawn state (shown in waves in FIG. 2 and labeled 1 ').
- a weft tension hiking field 4 becomes effective.
- the weft thread hiking field 4 is built up at a time t5 after all or only at least one group of the relay nozzle groups V to VI were effective or were completely ineffective with reduced air flow velocity. Expediently, however, the tensioning hiking field 4 is set up at the time t'5 after the relay nozzle groups V and VI are partially or completely switched off.
- the tensioning hiking field 4 is now built up in that, for example, the relay nozzle groups V and VI are either supplied again like a relay or at the same time briefly with compressed air at the time t'5.
- FIG. 2 also shows that the weft thread tension hiking field 4 consists of sections of tension hiking fields that extend over the weaving width (x) can be distributed, for example by simultaneous relay-like or non-relay-like switching on of relay nozzle groups III and VI.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for pneumatic weft insertion on air jet weaving machines, according to which the weft threads of a predetermined length after being released by a thread stopper are inserted from a main nozzle into the weft insertion channel of a reed and by means of relay nozzles arranged over the weaving width, which advance the head region of the respective weft thread by means of a pneumatic transport medium. act in the manner of a flow or transport hiking field and thus transport the weft thread through the weft thread insertion channel at an insertion speed which builds up a thread pulling force.
From DE-AS 23 28 135 a method for weft insertion into the shed by means of a fluid stream is known. The fluid flows out of several nozzles arranged over the weaving width, hereinafter referred to as relay nozzles, the fluid flows being controlled in such a way that they act on the thread in the region of the weft thread tip and effect the thread transport. This area moves synchronously with the weft. According to the method, the relay nozzles are pressurized when the weft tip comes into their area, and the relay nozzles are no longer pressurized when the weft tip leaves their area, with the exception of one or more relay nozzles distributed over the width of the weave, which still fly after the weft tip be pressurized until the weft has flown through the weaving width. This process sequence, as practice shows, leads to tension peaks in the final phase of the weft insertion Weft and subsequently to the so-called thread break, ie the weft breaks. The reasons for this are to be found in the fact that the thread insertion speed is still relatively high even in the final phase of the weft insertion and is abruptly set to zero at the end of the weft insertion by means of the thread stopper limiting the weft thread length.
If, on the other hand, the weft thread is not inserted at the required speed, ie the velocity (V L ) of the fluid generating the thread pull force and the number of relay nozzles involved in the weft thread insertion are too small, loops and a low thread tension can be expected.
Also known from US Pat. No. 4,759,392 is a method and a device for controlling the relay nozzles for weft insertion on weaving machines. Then the weft thread entry should be as perfect as possible with optimal use of the air flow and minimal consumption. For this purpose, it is proposed that first relay nozzles of a relay nozzle row be controlled in such a way that a basic or first air flow for inserting the weft thread into the shed is generated and then second relay nozzles of the relay nozzle row are controlled such that the latter relay nozzles emit an additional or second air flow , which generates the tension force on the weft. The air flow of the first relay nozzles has a speed that almost corresponds to the weft insertion speed specified in the program. The air flow of the second relay nozzles has a significantly higher air speed than the specified entry speed.
Both solutions known from the prior art neglect the fact that the product from the weft acting air flow speed (V L ) and the number (n) of the relay nozzles in addition to the speed of the weft thread (V G ) and the thread mass (m) has a significant influence on the size of the thread tension (F G ). This means that the greater the proportion of the product (V L .n) according to the relationship F G = f (V G , m, V L .n), the more frequently weft breaks will occur during the weft insertion.
The known prior art therefore gives no indication of how, with optimal use of the entry fluid, a perfect weft insertion can take place without weft breakage being excluded or being reduced to a minimum.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a method for pneumatic weft insertion on air jet looms which, with optimal use of the weft transport energy and using the inertia or the momentum of the weft in the final phase of the weft insertion, primarily in the weft stretching phase, the rate of weft breakage to a minimum is reduced.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that the air flow of the relay nozzles, which transports the weft thread through the weft thread insertion channel of the reed in a manner known per se, acts on the beginning or front region of the weft thread in the manner of a transport migration field. In the final phase of the weft thread entry, that is to say shortly before the weft thread is completely inserted into the entry channel and is in a stretched form, the thread transport hiking field is switched off. This briefly reduces the air flow velocity (V L ) influencing the thread pulling force (F G ) and the weft thread is only transported due to its inherent dynamics. The weft is accordingly in a relatively untensioned condition. After reducing the Air flow velocity (V L ) a weft thread traveling field is built up, which is generated by a comparatively smaller number of relay nozzles than is necessary for the transport traveling field. In this way, a pulling force that deviates or does not deviate from the first pulling force (F G ) is again applied to the weft thread. It is now up to the person skilled in the art, depending on the most varied parameters determining the weft thread insertion, to build up the weft thread migration field exclusively in the exit region of the weft thread insertion channel or over the weaving width. However, practice has shown that it is expedient to divide the weft thread hiking field into sections of hiking fields distributed over the weaving width. A gentle tensioning of the weft thread is thus achieved and weft thread breaks are completely prevented.
The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment.

I to VI in FIGS. 1 and 2 denote the groups of relay nozzles arranged over the weaving width of the weaving machine.
Groups I to VI form the weft
As soon as the thread tip of a relay nozzle group, e.g. I has left, the air supply to the weft is cut off and the transport from the next following relay nozzle group II is taken over. The relay nozzle groups I to VI are thus fed like a relay under a predetermined pressure (p) transport medium, preferably air, via a well-known pneumatic control, the air flowing at a predetermined speed (V L ) out of the individual nozzles of each relay relay group and pulls the weft 1 through the weft insertion channel, not shown here, of the reed of a weaving machine.
Figure 1 illustrates the known weft transport through the entry channel in the reed.
Here, the pneumatic weft thread entry takes place with only a single traveling field, the
The weft thread 1, which is shown here as a straight line in the diagram in FIG. 1, arrives at the output side of the reed at
It is therefore not necessary to stretch the weft thread by switching on the relay nozzle groups again.
Different thread or yarn qualities and in particular the aforementioned dynamic momentum of the weft threads often lead to so-called weft thread breaks in this process sequence and then to the weaving machine being switched off.
The solution known from European Patent Specification 0 112 431, according to which at least one passed relay nozzle is switched on again at least one more time before the end of the weft insertion in order to support and maintain the weft, does not lead to the solution of the problem, as it is the basis of the invention according to the application.
If the moving pressure wave or the air flow speed of the first traveling field over the weaving width is kept constantly high on the one hand, this leads to the weft breaks mentioned above or on the other hand kept constant low to avoid weft breaks, the insertion time of the weft is extended, which then has a negative effect on the performance the weaving machine affects.
All solution variants, as also shown in European Patent 0 112 431, according to which a trailing traveling field is used to support or maintain the weft thread on the first traveling field, which is based on weft transport parameters that are constant over the weaving width (blowing duration and pressure wave or air flow velocity) generated, do not lead to the achievement of the object of the invention.
In the diagram acc. Figure 2 shows the pneumatic weft insertion according to the invention.
The relay nozzle groups I to VI are plotted over the weave width (x) on the abscissa of FIG. 2 and the blowing duration (t) is plotted on the ordinate.
At time t₀, the tip or the front part of the weft thread 1 to be inserted is detected by the first effective relay nozzles of the first relay nozzle group I. The blowing duration is maintained until t 1. Before switching off the group I, the group II is turned on at a time t'₁, the blowing duration of which is maintained until the time t₂. Group III is turned on at the time t'₂. Up to group IV, the blowing duration (t) and the rhythm of switching the individual relay nozzle groups on and off remain constant.
That remains constant up to this relay nozzle group Air flow velocity (V L ) of the individual relay nozzles of the group in question.
After the relay nozzle group IV, the remaining groups V to VI are switched on with a shorter blowing time (t) and a reduced air flow speed (V Lred. ) Compared to the aforementioned groups.
At this stage, the weft thread has such a dynamic that it is possible to easily reach the intended
The weft thread 1 is thus at least within the end region of the weft insertion channel in an undrawn state (shown in waves in FIG. 2 and labeled 1 ').
On the weft
