Definitions
- the invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a device is already known from US-A-5 079 401.
- This known device is used to process the surface of a thin-walled hollow cylinder serving to produce a screen printing stencil with the aid of an at least approximately radially incident laser beam which is movable in the longitudinal direction thereof.
- the hollow cylinder is rotatably supported at its axial ends by means of two bearing devices fastened to a machine bed, a support bearing surrounding the hollow cylinder being provided between the bearing devices, which is designed such that it leaves free at least one path along which the laser beam is moved .
- the support bearing is connected here to an optical carriage which serves to deflect the laser beam in the direction of the hollow cylinder and is moved in the longitudinal direction of the hollow cylinder.
- the support bearing is taken along.
- a metallic hollow cylinder that coats on its outer surface is coated with an organic varnish and has a very thin wall.
- the metallic hollow cylinder has a large number of small and very closely adjacent through openings, which are sealed by the organic lacquer.
- the metallic hollow cylinder is clamped with both ends in a device that is similar to a lathe and taken along in a precisely rotating manner.
- a laser beam brought in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylinder is deflected by a deflecting mirror which can be moved parallel to the axis in such a way that it then runs perpendicular to the lateral surface of the hollow cylinder.
- This laser beam is focused with the aid of a lens arrangement in such a way that a focal point of very small diameter comes to lie exactly on the surface of the cylinder.
- the organic lacquer can be removed from the outer surface of the hollow cylinder by evaporation according to a predetermined pattern, whereby on the one hand the laser beam is guided in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder and the hollow cylinder itself is rotated. In the removed areas of paint, the through openings in the hollow cylinder are thus exposed, so that viscous agents, e.g. B. a printing paste. press through.
- the hollow cylinder was previously pushed onto an exactly concentric mandrel.
- this has the disadvantage that a handling space in the size of the hollow cylinder or in the size of the template length must remain free in the axial direction of the device.
- it is necessary to exchange the rotating mandrel for one with a different diameter, which is a considerable difficulty in the conversion work due to the size and weight of these parts.
- the invention has for its object to develop the generic device so that less distortion in the pattern image.
- the damping of the hollow cylinder should no longer depend on the axial position of the laser beam.
- vibrations should no longer be able to be transferred from the damping element to the lens system, which is used to focus the laser beam.
- it should be ensured that there is no reduction in the area of the hollow cylinder to be engraved due to the damping element.
- the support bearing is thus firmly connected to the device so that it cannot be displaced in the axial direction of the hollow cylinder. It is preferably installed at the location of the hollow cylinder where the greatest cylinder vibrations are expected. In general, the greatest vibrations of the hollow cylinder occur in its central area if it is designed in the same way over its entire axial length. If it contains different perforation patterns, larger vibrations can also occur in areas that come to lie outside the center of the hollow cylinder.
- Several of these support bearings can also be firmly positioned between the bearing devices in order to achieve an even quieter running of the hollow cylinder and thus an even more distortion-free pattern image.
- All support bearings release the hollow cylinder in the area of the laser beam, so that the hollow cylinder is available over its entire axial length for generating a sample image. In other words, no area of the hollow cylinder is shadowed by the support bearings, although for the most part these are placed around the hollow cylinder, e.g. B. can reach around like a ring.
- vibrations of the hollow cylinder can no longer be transmitted via the support bearings to the lens system used to focus the laser beam, since the lens system and the support bearings are mechanically decoupled from one another. This enables an even more distortion-free pattern image to be produced.
- the support bearings can be mounted in a simple manner on holding devices which are located on a machine bed which also serves to accommodate the bearing devices for the storage of the hollow cylinder at its axial ends.
- the holding devices are located at predetermined locations on the machine bed so that they can be selected in accordance with the type or length of a hollow cylinder to be machined. This makes it easy to retrofit the device when the type of hollow cylinder is changed.
- the support bearings leave the surface of the hollow cylinder free to such an extent that, together with the laser beam, a supporting device which contacts the hollow cylinder on the outside can be guided over the entire axial length of the hollow cylinder.
- the support device serves to additionally dampen vibrations of the cylinder wall in the immediate vicinity of the laser beam, and thus also in those areas that lie between two support bearings or between a support bearing and a bearing device.
- the device according to the invention has an operating side from which the hollow cylinder is inserted into the device. If the recesses of the support bearings point to the operating side, the hollow cylinder can be inserted into the support bearings particularly conveniently and without reversing the direction of movement. For this purpose, they can be opened backwards, as will be described. In this case, however, the slide for the deflecting mirror and the focusing optics is also on the operating side, which in turn makes it more difficult to equip the device with the hollow cylinder and to remove the hollow cylinder. It must be raised above the deflecting mirror and the focusing optics, which entails the risk of damaging these components.
- the support bearing can therefore be positioned such that it leaves the surface of the hollow cylinder free on a side which is directed away from the operating side of the device.
- the displacement device for the deflecting mirror and the focusing optics are no longer provided as well as these components themselves in the way.
- the displacement device and the components mentioned are now rather on the back of the device and are thus better protected against accidental damage.
- a power laser for generating the laser beam is located on the rear of the device.
- the support bearing comprises two bearing brackets designed in the form of a part circle and which can be pivoted relative to one another and which together surround the hollow cylinder by more than 180 degrees. Due to the mutually pivotable bearing bracket, it is possible to insert the hollow cylinder into the support bearing in a direction that is perpendicular to its cylinder axis.
- the hollow cylinder can be supported by the support bearing over a very large circumferential area, which can be 270 degrees or more, so that bearing forces act on the hollow cylinder as evenly as possible distributed over the latter and thus a particularly quiet bearing is achieved.
- the storage can be done by support rollers, which are mounted on the bracket.
- the support rollers can lie at the same angular spacing on the circumference of the hollow cylinder.
- three support rollers at angular intervals of 120 degrees each can be used.
- the support rollers can also be designed as permanent magnets to conduct a magnetic flux through the hollow cylinder and thus pull it against the support rollers.
- the bearing brackets can also be equipped with permanent magnets. The magnetic flux is then passed through the hollow cylinder via pole shoes which are connected to the bearing brackets in order to pull the latter against the support rollers, which can be magnetic or non-magnetic. This also results in an even quieter running of the hollow cylinder in the support bearing.
- the support rollers can have elastic material in the peripheral region, for example be provided with an elastic cover, in order to avoid damage to the hollow cylinder when it rolls on the support rollers.
- the support rollers can also sit individually on separate columns that are attached to the machine bed. However, they can also be firmly positioned on guide rails that run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hollow cylinder.
- the support bearing includes an elastic element which is arranged in the interior of the hollow cylinder and presses against the inner wall of the hollow cylinder in the region of the support bearing.
- the elastic element can be inserted into the interior of the hollow cylinder in the axial direction with the aid of a rod-shaped device. When the position of the support bearing is reached, it expands radially outwards and thus tensions the cylinder wall from the inside.
- the elastic element can e.g. B. be a clamping ring made of metal.
- the elastic element can also be an inflatable device, for example an inflatable ball. It is important that the elastic element is protected on its surface against laser radiation in order not to be damaged by this radiation.
- the laser radiation can pass through the through openings mentioned in the hollow cylinder. so that it is proposed according to the invention to provide the elastic element on its surface with metal lamellae. If the elastic element is inflated, the metal lamellae come to rest between the inner wall of the hollow cylinder and the elastic element and thus protect the latter from excessive heat from the laser beam.
- the bearing brackets are designed like a hollow ring and are provided with through openings in their wall adjacent to the hollow cylinder.
- z. B. blow air with adjustable pressure by the said Through openings emerges again.
- an air cushion bearing of the hollow cylinder can be achieved in the support bearing.
- the pressures in the various bearing brackets can be set so that the hollow cylinder can run axially in the support bearing and does not rub against the lower bearing bracket.
- the walls of the bearing bracket which have the through openings can be provided on their side facing the hollow cylinder with a flat recess which is connected to the through openings.
- the air cushion mounting of the hollow cylinder can be further improved, since a mechanism for keeping the pressure constant is obtained due to the pressure chamber formed by the flat recess and the gap formed between the edge of the flat recess and the hollow cylinder.
- the support bearing consists of a semicircular chamber with the open side facing the hollow cylinder, an endless flat perforated belt running around the semicircular chamber.
- the semicircular chamber surrounds the hollow cylinder by 180 degrees or less so that it can be inserted directly into the support bearing.
- a negative pressure is generated in the chamber in order to pull the hollow cylinder through openings in the endless flat belt and thus also the endless flat belt against the concave chamber side.
- the endless flat belt also rotates when the cabbage cylinder rotates.
- it can also be driven by a motor, for example via a DC motor. to achieve absolute synchronization with the hollow cylinder.
- the semicircular chamber Since the semicircular chamber has a relatively large axial width, it can have webs on the inside for supporting the endless flat belt. They run in the longitudinal direction of the flat belt. Correspondingly oriented parallel longitudinal webs can also be located on the outer surface of the endless flat belt for linear support of the hollow cylinder and for the formation of separate suction chambers.
- FIG. 1 shows a device according to the invention with a power laser 1, which emits a laser beam 4 incident on a first deflecting mirror 3 via an outlet opening 2.
- the first deflecting mirror 3 deflects the laser beam 4 by 90 degrees and impinges on a second deflecting mirror 5 in order to be deflected again by 90 degrees, so that it now runs in a direction opposite to its original direction.
- a third deflection mirror 6 again deflects the laser beam 4 by 90 degrees, specifically in the direction of the power laser 1.
- the laser beam 4, which runs after the third deflection mirror 6, is focused with the aid of focusing optics, in the present case with a lens 7, in such a way that its focal point comes to rest on the outer circumferential surface of a hollow cylinder 8. the z. B.
- the hollow cylinder 8 consists of a very thin and uniformly perforated metal grid and is held between two rotatably mounted conical stubs 9 and 10.
- the cone stub 9 is rotated by a drive, not shown, in a headstock 11.
- the cone stub 10 is also rotatably mounted, specifically in a tailstock 12.
- the tailstock 12 can be pressed on guide tracks 13 in the direction of a hollow cylinder axis 14 against the hollow cylinder 8, in which case it then presses the hollow cylinder 8 against the cone stub 9.
- the resulting frictional engagement causes the hollow cylinder 8 and the stub 10 to be carried along by the rotational movement of the stub 9. Because of the extremely low frictional resistance.
- the third deflecting mirror 6 and the lens 7 are mounted on a slide 15 which can be moved in the direction of the hollow cylinder axis 14. More specifically, the slide 15 carries a cross slide 16, on which the third deflection mirror 6 and the lens 7 are arranged, and by means of which an exact radial adjustment of the focal point generated by the lens 7 on the surface of the hollow cylinder 8 is possible. If the carriage 15 is moved with the aid of a spindle 17 along guide rods 18 in the direction of the hollow cylinder axis 14, and the hollow cylinder 8 is rotated at the same time, the focal point of the lens 7 or the laser beam 4 focused at the focal point describes a helix on the surface of the Hollow cylinder 8. The spindle 17 is driven by a stepper motor 19.
- a support bearing 21 is arranged approximately in the middle of the hollow cylinder 8 in the present exemplary embodiment. This support bearing 21 is firmly positioned and is not moved in the axial direction 14 of the hollow cylinder 8 during operation of the device.
- two or more support bearings can also be provided, for example two support bearings 21, which then each support the hollow cylinder 8 in approximately one third of its length.
- the support supports 21 mentioned are inserted into receiving bores 22 which are located in a machine bed 23.
- a larger number of receiving bores 22 can be provided in order to be able to use a desired number of support bearings 21 at desired positions in accordance with the type and length of the hollow cylinder 8.
- On the machine bed 23 are the aforementioned headstock 11 and the tailstock 12, while the carriage 15 is guided on the front side of the machine bed 23.
- This front side of the machine bed 23 represents the operating side of the device.
- the power laser 1, which is relatively close to the machine bed 23, is positioned on the opposite side of the machine bed 23.
- the hollow cylinder 8 can therefore be clamped practically only from the operating side into the device, it having to be lifted over the slide 15 and the optics attached to it.
- the respective support bearings 21, which only partially surround the hollow cylinder 8, are positioned so that their recesses 24 to form free areas on the surface of the hollow cylinder 8 point in the direction of the operating side, ie in the direction of the slide 15. These recesses 24 are necessary because the laser beam 4 also carries out the engraving work in the region of the support bearings 21 must to create a continuous sample image.
- FIG. 2 shows a top view of the hollow cylinder 8, the same elements as in FIG. 1 being provided with the same reference numerals.
- the ends 25 of the hollow cylinder 8 are held and centered here by cylindrical internal collets 26.
- the lens 7 provided for focusing the laser beam 4 is arranged in an engraving head 27.
- an inner nozzle 28 which tapers towards the hollow cylinder 8 and in which the lens 7 is fixedly positioned, there is a slightly higher pressure than the ambient pressure, the higher pressure being maintained by introducing nitrogen.
- the tapering of the inner nozzle 28 corresponds to the course of the focused laser beam 4 behind the lens 7.
- the nitrogen emerges from the inner nozzle 28 at the narrowest point, ie in the region of the nozzle tip. and thus prevents the ingress of dirt particles into the inner nozzle 28, so that contamination of the lens 7 which occurs over time is avoided.
- the inner nozzle 28 is surrounded concentrically by a larger suction nozzle 29, the suction nozzle 29 sucking off the evaporating and immediately condensing lacquer on the one hand and sucking in the wall of the hollow cylinder 8 on the other hand, whereby the wall is forced to constantly rest against a peripheral edge of conical support disks 30, which are positioned on the side of the suction nozzle 29.
- the unit consisting of the inner nozzle 28, the suction nozzle 29 and the support disks 30 is moved in the axial direction 14 of the hollow cylinder 8, with the support disks 30 permanently supporting the circumferential wall of the hollow cylinder 8, even in areas which are separated from the support bearing 21 lie away.
- the support disks 30 are rotatably mounted on the engraving head 27, their axes of rotation being inclined outwards relative to the optical axis of the lens 7.
- the support bearing 21 has such a lateral recess that the support disks 30 can run along the outer wall of the hollow cylinder 8 in the axial direction 14 without them touch the support bearing 21.
- the support bearing 21 contains a plurality of support rollers 31, for example three pieces, which are arranged at uniform angular distances from one another distributed over the circumference of the hollow cylinder 8. These support rollers 31 ensure that the hollow cylinder 8 is guided and supported.
- the support rollers 31 are rotatably arranged in two bearing brackets 32a and 32b which are designed in the form of part circles and can be pivoted to one another.
- the laser beam 4 is reflected by the metal fins 34, with only a very small part of its thermal energy being absorbed by the metal fins 34.
- the lower end of the bearing bracket 32a is pivotable about the upper end of the bearing bracket 32b, for which purpose a joint 35 is arranged in this area.
- the upper bracket 32a can thus be pivoted to the left in FIG. 3, namely into its position shown in dashed lines, in order to facilitate the insertion of the hollow cylinder 8 into the support bearing 21 or the device.
- the lower bearing bracket 32b is fastened to a foot 32c which can be inserted into one of the receiving bores 22 in FIG. 1.
- the rubber ball 33 is equipped with a valve 36 via which the rubber ball 33 is inflated after it has been inserted in the axial direction into the hollow cylinder 8 and is in the right place, that is to say in the region of Support bearing 21.
- a screw connection 37 on the valve body allows a tube to be screwed in for easy filling or venting of the rubber ball 33.
- Fig. 4 shows a cross-sectional view through another embodiment of a support bearing according to the invention.
- the same parts as in Fig. 3 are given the same reference numerals and will not be described again.
- a circular inner clamping ring 38 in the manner of a piston ring is used here.
- Two eyelets 39 serve to loosen the elastic pretension easily with the help of a pliers-like tool to be inserted into the hollow cylinder 8.
- the inner clamping ring 38 is designed in such a way that, as possible, no imbalance is caused by it when the hollow cylinder 8 is rotated.
- a support roller 31 designed as a magnet is shown in FIG. 5. With the aid of such a support roller 31, the wall of the hollow cylinder 8 can be forced to bear against the support roller 31 by magnetic forces.
- a permanent magnet 42 is located between two soft iron disks 40 and can be glued to the soft iron disks 40.
- the soft iron disks 40 each carry an outwardly projecting pin 41.
- the magnetic flux induced by the permanent magnet 42 is increasingly guided over the circumferential wall of the hollow cylinder 8 as a result of the soft iron disks 40, so that this is attracted to the support roller 31.
- the jacket of the support roller 31 is covered with a protective rubber 43.
- the area between the two soft iron disks 40 and the permanent magnet 42 which is somewhat smaller in diameter, is filled with a sleeve 44 made of diamagnetic material.
- the 6 also shows a support roller 31, against which the wall of the hollow cylinder 8 is brought into contact by means of magnetic forces.
- the support roller itself is non-magnetic and in turn has two axial pins 41 which are mounted in soft iron cheeks 45. Between the soft iron cheeks 45 there is a permanent magnet 46 parallel to the support roller 31. The magnetic flux is therefore not conducted via the support roller 31 but from the permanent magnet 46 via the soft iron cheeks 45, which are connected to the bearing brackets 32a, b.
- the edge region 47 of the soft iron cheeks 45 directly opposite the hollow cylinder 8 can now be adapted to the outer circumference of the hollow cylinder 8 with better dimensional accuracy, as shown in FIG. 7, as a result of which the magnetic forces with which the hollow cylinder 8 is brought into contact with the support roller 32 , accept higher values.
- the support roller 31 is again covered on its outer surface with a protective rubber 43.
- the support bearing 21 here consists of two hollow ring segments 48, 49, more precisely an upper hollow ring segment 48 and a lower hollow ring segment 49, which is firmly connected to a foot 49a which can be inserted into one of the receiving bores 22. Both hollow ring segments 48, 49 are pivotally connected to one another via a joint 35, so that the upper hollow ring segment 48 can be folded away to the left in FIG. 8. In this state, the hollow cylinder 8 can then be inserted into the support bearing 21.
- two pressure chambers 50 and 51 are accommodated, namely a low-pressure chamber 50 in the hollow ring segment 48 and a high-pressure chamber 51 in the hollow ring segment 49.
- the pressures in these chambers 50, 51 are set such that the hollow cylinder 8 has the Resulting from all compressive forces is statically as close to zero as possible.
- the compressive forces can e.g. B. generate over compressed air.
- the high pressure forces in the high pressure chamber 51 must balance both the lower pressure forces in the low pressure chamber 50 and the suction forces which are generated by the vacuum region of the suction nozzle 29.
- the compressed air required for operation is supplied to the pressure chambers 50, 51 via hose lines, not shown.
- the position stabilization of the hollow cylinder 8 then results from the flow-dynamic processes of the air emerging through bores 52 and the flow behavior of the air in the flat pockets 53 provided behind it, which are laterally surrounded by gaps 54 between the hollow cylinder 8 and the support bearing 21.
- the thickness 55 of the gap 54 decreases in this area, so that the amount of air that can flow out of this area decreases.
- the pressure in the flat pocket 53 increases, which results in an increase in the forces which push the hollow cylinder 8 away from the hollow ring segment 48, 49.
- the reverse process takes place when the hollow cylinder 8 wants to move away from the hollow ring segment 48, 49.
- the hollow ring segments 48, 49 have a rectangular cross section, with the outside of their concave side wall. which faces the hollow cylinder 8, the flat pocket 53 is embedded over the entire length of the wall. Go from the bottom of the flat pocket 53 the bores 52 into the interior of the pressure chambers 50, 51.
- FIGS. 10 and 11 show a further embodiment of the support bearing 21 according to the invention.
- the position of the hollow cylinder 8 is fixed here with the aid of an endless conveyor belt 56, which is designed as a flat belt.
- This conveyor belt is sucked in by a vacuum chamber 57, which is semicircular and encompasses the hollow cylinder 8 by 180 degrees or less.
- the vacuum chamber 57 has sliding webs 58 which are machined on the side facing the hollow cylinder 8 according to a semicircular contour.
- a back 59 closes this vacuum chamber 57 on the opposite side.
- At two ends of the vacuum chamber 57 there are two deflection rollers 60 around which the endless conveyor belt 56 runs.
- a slightly larger game is provided between the endless conveyor belt 56 and the back 59.
- a sufficient and continuous suction of air from the vacuum chamber 57 generates such a static pressure there that the endless conveyor belt 56 is constantly pressed against the sliding webs 58.
- the endless conveyor belt 56 is provided on its outer surface with spacer webs 61, which have a trapezoidal cross section, are vulcanized on and extend in the longitudinal direction thereof.
- the cylinder wall of the hollow cylinder 8 is supported on the spacer webs 61. Openings 62 in the endless conveyor belt 56 ensure that an intermediate space 63 between the hollow cylinder 8 and the endless conveyor belt 56 can also be sufficiently evacuated.
- the static pressure in this intermediate space 63 is somewhat higher than in the vacuum chamber 57, but somewhat lower than the external air pressure. As a result, the hollow cylinder 8 is pressed against the spacer webs 61 and held in place.
- a bracket 64 is used to fix the support bearing 21 on the machine bed 23.
- one or both deflection rollers 60 can also be driven by a motor, for example by a DC motor, or the like.
- FIG. 12 shows a further embodiment of the device according to the invention, namely in a top view.
- the same elements as in Fig. 1 are with are provided with the same reference symbols and are not described again in detail.
- the operating side which is at the bottom in FIG. 12, is completely free. Both the power laser 1 and the slide 15 guided with the aid of the spindle 17 are located on the rear side of the device, so that easy access to the machine bed 23 is possible from the operator side, which equips the device with a hollow cylinder 8 and Removal of the hollow cylinder considerably simplified.
- the operating side of the device is provided with the reference number 65 in FIG. 12.
- the exemplary embodiments relate to the fact that the laser beam initially runs parallel to the hollow cylinder before the former is deflected by 90 degrees in order to strike the hollow cylinder radially.
- the laser beam can also be brought to the hollow cylinder in a different way, for example via optical waveguides, so that the direction of radiation parallel to the hollow cylinder is not important. It is only important that the section of the laser beam running in the radial direction of the hollow cylinder is displaceable in the longitudinal or axial direction of the hollow cylinder.
