Abstract

Climbing up a mast halyard (13) without utilising external assistance is a problematic undertaking for a yachtsman and as a rule involves a relatively high risk. In order to permit this in a safe and simple manner, the invention proposes a device which essentially consists of two identical parts (1 and 2 resp.), one part (1) being operatively connected to a seat (15) and the second part (2) being operatively connected to a foot rest (16). The two parts (1 and 2 resp.) are provided with clamping means, for example in the form of curry clamps (5, 6), by means of which they can be firmly clamped to the mast halyard (13) during loading. By alternate loading and unloading of the two parts (1 and 2 resp.) or of the seat (15) and the foot rest (16) with the body weight, the two parts (1 and 2 resp.) can be pushed up and down the mast halyard (13) and then firmly clamped to it again. It is thereby possible to climb up or down a mast halyard (13) without any problem. Since mechanical clamping means (5, 6), which are firmly clamped to the mast halyard (13) by the body weight of the yachtsman, allow one of the two parts of the device to be reliably secured without undue effort at any moment when climbing up or down the mast halyard (13), the greatest possible safety is guaranteed.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for climbing up in a sailboat mast without the use of outside help, according to the preamble of claim 1.

Especially with sailboats, but not only there, there is a regular problem that a person who has no way to get help from a third party should climb up the mast case. As a rule, this problem cannot be solved, or at least not easily, especially if a minimum of safety should be ensured during the entire ascent and descent. The problem can be avoided by using seat slings and similar aids connected to separate mast traps, but this requires that a special device is attached in time to the topmost point of the mast that can be lifted and lifted by hand using the circulation or pulley method subsequently lowering a person again. Such aids and devices are useful in individual cases, but have various disadvantages, of which usually the most significant is that the device does not mount when needed, i.e. not attached to the top of the mast and therefore cannot be used.

The present invention has for its object to provide a device which can be retrofitted at any time with a case hanging from the mast and which enables the mast to be climbed easily with the greatest possible security against falling with a minimum of force and skill. The inventive The device is also intended to make rappelling easy again. The device according to the invention was therefore developed for use on sailing boats.

According to the invention the object on which the present invention is based is achieved by a device as defined in claim 1.

In Fig. 1 it can be seen that the device according to the invention consists essentially of two parts 1, respectively. 2 exists, which serve to climb a case and can be operatively connected to it. These are two equal parts, one part for both hands. With one of the two parts 1 is a third, not shown here Component, advantageously in the form of a seat 15 (FIG. 4) and connected to the other part 2 a fourth component, also not shown here, advantageously in the form of a footrest 16 (FIG. 4). Both Both main parts 1, respectively. 2 advantageously have a substantially U-shaped cross section, which can be parts of a U-profile 3 and 4. At the upper end of the U-profile, a clamping device 5 and 6 is attached, for example in the form of a curry clamp, which serves to part 1, respectively. 2 to clamp on the case in the manner described below. The clamping, respectively. Release of the clamping device on the case is effected by a spring 7 and 8, which connects the clamping device to the lower part of the U-profile. The two parts 1, respectively. 2 also have at their lower end in use a connection of the legs 9 and 10, to which part 15 incorporates a seat 15 (FIG. 4) and part 2 a footrest 16 (FIG. 4) by means of a reps 11 and 12 will.

From Fig. 2 it can be clearly seen how the clamping device 5 and 6 is attached to the upper end of the U-profile 3 and 4 and how it connects by means of springs 7 and 8 with the lower end of the U-profile in use, on this Connection of the legs 9 and 10 also a reep 11 and 12 can be attached.

Fig. 3 zeigt einen der beiden Teile 1, resp. Fig. 3 shows one of the two parts 1, respectively. 2 from above. One can see the mast case 13 in the opening of the U-profile 3 and 4, and the clamping device 5 and 6, which is connected to the spring 7 and 8. One can also see the connection of the two legs of the U-profile 9 and 10, to which the reeps 11 and 12 are connected.

Dann wird das Fall 13 unten am Mast 19 in der Nähe des Bootskörpers 18 z.B an einer Klampe 17, wenn möglich gespannt festgelegt.FIG. 4 shows how the device according to the invention described above with reference to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 is connected to a mast case. First the mast case 13 hanging freely along the mast 19 is pulled from the inside through the opening of the U-section 3 of part 1, to which the seat 15 is connected, in such a way that it runs over the clamping device 5. Then the mast case 13 is pulled in the same way through the opening of the U-profile 4 of part 2, to which the footrest 16 is connected, in such a way that it also runs over the clamping device 6 here. Then the case 13 is fixed at the bottom of the mast 19 near the hull 18, for example on a cleat 17, if possible tensioned.

The various operating steps of the inventive device according to FIG. 1 are described with reference to FIG. 5. After hanging the two parts 1, respectively. 4, which now runs over the two clamping devices 5 and 6, one sits comfortably in the seat 15 and puts the feet on the footrest 16, where they are advantageously lashed down by means of foot straps. By loading the seat 15 and footrest 16, the two parts 1, respectively. 2 clamped to the mast case by means of the clamping devices 5 and 6. Now min rises to stand, whereby the seat 15, which is connected to part 1 by means of reep 11, is relieved and simultaneously pushes part 1 upwards with one hand as far as possible on the case 13 while getting up. Then the sitting position is taken up again, so that part 2, which is connected to the footrest 16 by means of reep 12, can be relieved and pulled up on the case 13 with the other hand until the legs are bent. From this seated position, one now rises again to stand and at the same time pushes part 1 with the seat 15 up as far as possible on the fall. Now the body weight is shifted back to the seat 15 and part 2 with the attached footrest 16 is pulled up along the case 13 with the other hand, so that the legs be angled. By repeating these movements, the mast case 13 can be climbed without problems. For this no excessive force is necessary and due to the alternately secure clamping by means of the clamping devices 5 and 6 on the one hand part 1 with the seat 15 hanging on reep 11 and on the other hand part 2, with the foot rest 16 attached to reep 12 on the mast case 13, is continuously on Device part fixed and allows effortless rest. The abseiling along the mast case 13 takes place in an analogous manner.

The person skilled in the art will recognize that the described device according to the invention can be constructed in detail differently than is apparent from the drawing. It can also be adapted to suit the prevailing conditions. In addition to the curry clamp mentioned, various other devices can of course be used as the clamping device. Then it is also quite possible, the two main parts 1, respectively. 2 of the device according to the invention according to FIG. 1 to be provided with a closed profile tube instead of the U-profile in order to further increase the puncture resistance of the device. In series production of the device according to the invention, the two parts 1, respectively. 2 each made of plastic. Of course, the means for fastening the seat 15 and the footrest 16 can be constructed in any other way than described above.

The person skilled in the art easily recognizes that the device according to the invention provides the sailor with a means for the first time which allows him to climb the mast of a sailboat or a sailing yacht easily and without outside help, without this being associated with a risk due to a lack of safety.
