Definitions
- the invention relates to a security element that mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 Kind and on a method of manufacture of such a security element.
- Such security elements are suitable, for example to secure a glued photograph on an identity card, which as Brand trained security element both part of the photograph as well as one Part of the ID card covered.
- the European patent application EP-A 401 466 describes such a security element, which has a full-surface reflection layer and one made of surfaces with embossed relief structures and in between, unprinted Surface compound pattern shows. When looking at the security element visually disturb the bright reflections on the unembossed Surfaces the full color development of the the relief structures of diffracted light.
- the European patent EP 169 326 describes a device for the production of matrices, with for example the microscopic relief structures in one-sided aluminized plastic carrier be impressed.
- the improved device from the European patent application EP-A 330 738 enables the manufacture of embossing of the necessary relief structures, the sub-areas with at least one dimension less than 0.3 mm.
- European patent application EP-A 439 092 describes the use of the security element with diffraction structures in partial areas are grid-like covered with the reflective layer, to secure ID cards, whereby by not reflective areas through despite cloudiness through the grid through the security element covered features of the ID card recognizable are.
- GB-A 2 136 352 describes a security element with in embossed a carrier material, forming a hologram Relief structures.
- the hologram surface becomes part of a reflective layer are covered also neutral surfaces located between the hologram surfaces " of the carrier material partly with the reflective Layer covered.
- the hologram can be sandwiched constructed laminates from different hologram parts consist of one another in different levels are stacked, but when viewed from the outside they give the impression convey a full-surface hologram.
- the invention has for its object a security element to improve with cost-effective production that the security element itself is optimally effective is, on the other hand, an optimal transparency through the Security element through to attached below Markings or the like is possible.
- the invention is characterized in claim 1. in the Claim 9 is a preferred embossing die for embossing characterized security elements according to the invention.
- 1 means a substrate Paper, plastic, metal and the like, on the Surface a feature 2 is arranged.
- a Brand 3 made of plastic covered as a security element Adjacent sub-areas of the substrate 1 and feature 2, the mark 3 with the a partial area on feature 2 and with the other partial surface is glued to the substrate 1.
- the substrate 1 can be an ID card Feature 2 a photograph of the holder, a signature made before application of stamp 3 or can be another characteristic.
- the mark 3 has a pattern that consists of Diffractive surfaces with diffraction elements 4 and neutral areas 5. Diffract the diffraction elements 4 the incident ambient light in reflection and generate a characteristic, when tilting of the substrate 1 changing color image.
- the neutral ones Areas 5 do not reflect; for example they are absorbent or transparent. are the neutral areas 5 is transparent in the Areas 5 only a weak reflection on the Mark 3 surface noticeable because of the Jump in the refractive index of the media (air-plastic), but neither the color picture nor that Look at the substrate visible at this point 1 or feature 2 interferes with the mark 3.
- the security element works with the visual Consider particularly beneficial if the diffraction elements 4 are, for example, linear and filigree patterns on the security element form. These patterns have the advantage that the characteristic under the mark 2 is easily recognizable, especially if the lines the diffraction elements 4 are as narrow as possible.
- the line widths can be less than 0.5 mm, for example 0.1 mm, 0.05 mm or more narrower. Also a grid of points or one of points built pattern is conceivable, the Diameter of the point diffraction elements 4 corresponds approximately to the line widths above. linewidths from about 25 ⁇ m can be used with the agents can be achieved in EP-A 330 738 with the Title "Document" by Antes et al.
- Every point or line segment can create an individual diffraction element 4 be that in its parameters, spatial frequency and grid profile, from the neighboring ones Points or line segments.
- the Change the parameters of a diffraction element 4 to the other can be z.
- B. graphically designed Serve means to increase security.
- the security element has the advantage that the diffraction elements 4 by the reflection of the diffracted light very noticeable from the light-weak neutral areas 5, on to whom no light is reflected that interacts with the Mix the colors of the diffracted light and reduce the brilliance of the diffraction elements 4 can. Because through the neutral areas 5 the sub-images 6 of the feature lying below them 2 are recognizable and those with the not from the brand 3 covered partial images 7 a whole Image of feature 2 must result is suitable the brand 3 as a security element also to authenticate feature 2, which are not only due to the high visibility of the diffraction elements 4 and through the transparency in the neutral areas 5 but distinguishes also a visually verifiable, high level of security against falsification of the authentication of the feature 2 offers.
- Figure 2 shows a cross section through the ID card with the one stuck on the substrate 1 Brand 3 as a security element.
- An example is a Layered group depicted in the European Patent application EP-A 401 466 with the Title "Layer Compound with Diffraction Structures" is described by the same applicant and their Text expressly to the present description heard.
- a lacquer layer 11 conveys a good one Adhesion between the stabilization layer 9 and the carrier 10.
- the diffraction elements 4 are as microscopic relief structures 12 in the carrier 10 embossed.
- a protective layer 13 covers all over both with a reflective Layer 14 covered relief structures 12 as well the unembossed and non-reflecting neutral ones Areas 5 of the carrier 10.
- One on the Protective layer 13 applied adhesive layer 15 connects the mark 3 ( Figure 1) firmly to the substrate 1, the adhesive bond not without destruction of the security element can be solved can.
- the carrier 10 and the Protective layer 13 made of the same material, so that in the neutral areas 5 the carrier 10 and the protective layer 13 connect particularly intimately so that there are none at the joint Forms the weak point and the protective layer 13 be removed for molding the relief structures 12 can without destroying them.
- the bearer 10 and the protective layer 13 from the same, clear material, is one in the unembossed neutral Areas 5 existing undisturbed carrier surface 16 invisible.
- the support surface 16 is therefore shown in dashed lines in the drawing.
- the neutral areas 5 therefore remain completely clear transparent and interfere with the recognizability of the under the mark 3 lying feature 2 ( Figure 1) not.
- the carrier 10 and the protective layer 13 can also be colored differently.
- the composite layer can also be a massive one Foil, for example made of PVC, as a carrier material 17 can be used.
- Mark 3 should be glued to the substrate 1 are used for the protective layer 13, for the adhesive layer 15 and the carrier material 17 with The advantage of transparent or even colorless materials used so that the feature 2 (Figure 1) by the neutral areas 5 remains visible through.
- the carrier is 10 itself stable enough so that the stabilization layer 9 and the paint layer 11 are unnecessary.
- the manufacture of the security feature is characterized by a few characteristic process steps from that listed as examples Manufacturing processes are recognizable. For example are compared to the state of the art (EP-A 401 466) in those described below just a few additional procedural steps to insert, but as described below, are designed differently. Of these procedures each has its advantages.
- the band-shaped carrier material has 17, for example, the stabilization layer 9 and the carrier 10, which with the lacquer layer 11th ( Figure 2) are connected.
- the carrier material 17 is on that facing away from the stabilization layer 9 Side, the embossed side, with a reflective Layer 14 completely coated.
- reflective Layer 14 are e.g. B. evaporated aluminum layers known, the thickness of which is only a fraction of a Micrometer.
- the carrier material 17 is a band of one deducted supply roll not shown here and goes into the different processing zones one after the other, in which the marks 3 ( Figure 1) with the security feature ready step by step be put.
- Figure 3d shown material for brands finished, the first being on the embossing side 18 (FIG. 3a) Protective layer 13 over the entire surface of the carrier material 17 applied and finally the adhesive layer 15 is applied.
- the adhesive layer 15 can also be omitted if, immediately before sticking on the Mark 3 ( Figure 1) on the substrate 1 ( Figure 1) Adhesive to one of the two adhesive partners 1, 3 is applied or the protective layer 13 as an adhesive layer 15 is formed.
- This method has the advantage that those for making diffractive patterns Embossing dies used according to the prior art also for creating the new security elements can be used so that no new embossing dies are produced have to.
- this distance A is approximately 1 ⁇ m to 5 ⁇ m, while the relief structure has 12 height differences B of 1 ⁇ m or less.
- the relief structures 12 are based on the Indentations 21 are embossed and can therefore also Have height differences B of more than 1 ⁇ m.
- the carrier material 17 in the figure 4a a mesa structure, the unembossed Areas 5 the plateau and the depressions 21 represent the valleys with the relief structures 12.
- the application of the Protective lacquer 19 takes place during the passage of the carrier material 17 by a in the printing industry for the gravure known work 22, 23.
- Das Carrier material 17 moves in a transport direction 24 from the roller mill 22 to the doctor blade 23 from e.g. B. plastic or rubber.
- the Scraper knife 23 is above the carrier material 17 arranged, the cutting edge of the doctor blade 23 across the full width of the substrate 17 for wiping off the unnecessary protective lacquer 19 slightly springy on the reflective Layer 14 can slide.
- the protective lacquer 19 is the passage of the Backing material 17 evenly on the reflective Layer 14 distributed.
- the protective lacquer 19 By choosing the appropriate one Properties of the protective lacquer 19, such as the viscosity, the wetting, etc., their numerical values the protective varnish fills through experiments 19 in particular also the depressions 21 and covers the relief structures 12.
- the doctor blade 23 touches the embossed neutral Areas 5 upcoming protective paint 19 from the reflective layer 14, so that only in the Depressions 21 of the protective lacquer 19 remains, the reflective layer 14 of the diffraction elements 4 before the effect of the chemical bath to remove the reflective layer 14 protects.
- the tape of the carrier material 17 is like pulled through the chemical bath in process 1 and in areas 5 the exposed reflective Layer 14 removed.
- the ready-equipped example 4c shows the primary material in which the reflective layer 14 only on the diffraction elements 4 is left behind. On the Backing material 17 is only the full-surface protective layer 13 available.
- This method has the advantage that no precise work when applying the Protective varnish 19 is necessary, since this is automatic and results with great precision. It is even possible, embossing and application of the protective layer 13 and the protective lacquer 19 at different Production sites without performing that the accuracy of limiting the reflective Layers 14 on the diffraction elements 4 suffer from.
- the arrangement of the relief structures 12 on the The reason of the depressions 21 in the carrier material 17 is an advantage because the greatest possible protection of the Relief structures 12 ( Figure 4b) when covering the Diffraction elements 4 reached with the protective lacquer 19 becomes.
- applying the protective lacquer 19 according to the method 1 also on the carrier material 17 with the Mesa structure can be done.
- the manufacture of the security elements can also with a starting material as a carrier material 17 take place, as in Figure 5a none reflective layer 14 (Figure 3a) on the embossed side 18 has.
- a starting material as a carrier material 17
- method 2 means the embossing die with raised embossed structures the diffraction elements 4 and the depressions 21 generated in the carrier material 17.
- a washable register Material as separating layer 25 according to EP-A 253 089 by means of a known from the high pressure Applied to the printing unit, this only with his Applicator roller 26 is shown.
- the application roller 26 rolls on the embossed side 18 of the carrier material 17 and covers the elevated neutral areas 5 with the separating layer 25.
- the viscosity and the The thickness of the washable material is so chosen that the washable material is not the Fills recesses 21 and the relief structures 12 ( Figure 2) dirty.
- the separating layer 25 covers therefore only the neutral areas 5 and in the relief structures 12 embossed stay free.
- FIG. embossed carrier material 17 without reflective Layer 14 (FIG. 4b) of protective lacquer 19 by means of the printing process as in FIG. 3b or with the method shown in FIG. 4b be applied.
- Differentiate with advantage 4c shows the carrier material 17 and the Protective varnish 19 in its refractive index.
- the carrier material 17 has a value smaller in the refractive index than 1.5, while the protective lacquer 19 over the diffraction elements 4 have a refractive index owns over 1.55.
- the jump in the refractive index at the interface between the carrier material 17 and the protective lacquer 19 causes a strong Reflection of the through the substrate 17 on the Diffraction elements 4 falling light, so this Boundary layer forms the reflective layer 14 and has the same effect.
- the lack of metallic reflective layer 14 also causes also in the diffraction elements 4 a strong inseparable connection between the layers.
- a protective lacquer 19 curable by radiation has the advantage that when hardening of the protective lacquer 19 in the depressions 21 (FIG 5a) a very robust and heat-stable underlay that forms the precisely molded relief structures Have 12 (Figure 2) in the diffraction elements 4.
- the manufactured from such a raw material Marks 3 ( Figure 1) hold even without a stabilization layer 9 ( Figure 2) when hot gluing or Overlaminating the marks 3 required heat out.
- the carrier material 17 is advantageously transparent and at least the protective lacquer 19 (FIG. 3b) or the protective layer 13 dark or even black colored because the viewer has the identification mark 8 as a strikingly brilliant filigree pattern can recognize z. B. as fine lines in front of one dark background. Becomes the reflective Layer 14 not applied in register, arise next to the linear diffraction structures 4 easily recognized by the unarmed eye reflective, non-diffractive surfaces.
- the security element can be used for authenticity detection of documents, banknotes, and others Objects are used.
- the pattern of the security element and those under the brand 3 lying features 2, as on the substrate 1 printed image or writing elements or a Watermarks in substrate 1 are also from the layperson recognizable with the unarmed eye if to on the reflective layer 14, the protective layer 13 and the carrier material 17 are transparent.
- On such a quasi-transparent security element shows the fine filigree patterns from the diffraction elements 4 and can vary depending on the light and viewing direction a brilliant play of colors show without recognizing the image or Writing elements through the clear neutral areas 5 suffers.
- the quasi-transparent security element can be used for partial or total coverage of the substrate to be protected against counterfeiting 1 and its features 2 are used.
- substrates 1 are personal ones ID cards with imprint and photo of the Owner mentioned.
- the graphic pattern of the brand 3 covers the features 2 with the fine ones Lines or line elements whose relief structure 12 act as diffraction elements 4. Because of the high diffraction efficiency of the diffraction elements 4 is a small area share of the diffraction elements 4 sufficient so that a recognition of the Information on the substrate 1 through the neutral Areas 5 is not affected.
- the linear diffraction elements 4 have advantageously predetermined along the lines changing spatial frequencies and profile shapes so that the visual impression is predetermined changed along the lines when the viewing conditions, for example by turning or tilting of the substrate 1 can be changed.
- One try replacing the one under the security element lying features 2 destroys the security element.
- Also falsifying the ID card, z. B. by assembling pieces of several real ID, is easily recognizable as the fine lines of the diffraction elements at seams moved or broken in the line continue.
- By tilting the substrate with Help the obvious diffraction effects from Laypersons can easily be checked whether the fine ones Diffraction elements covering information 4 are intact, e.g. B. by checking whether the Diffraction effects of the diffraction elements 4 along of the fine lines change abruptly or not.
- the carrier material 17 If the carrier material 17 is stiff enough, can the ID cards in the primary material Credit card format to be punched out.
- the pattern of the security element forms the identifier 8 ( Figure 1) and dierft z. B. as an optical Posters.
- the use of transparent is advantageous or even colorless materials for the protective layer 13, the carrier material 17 and any Protective lacquer 19, since the identifier 8 ( Figure 1) visible from both sides of the ID card is.
- the band-shaped primary material processed into a brand role 27 become. This is especially indicated when the Brands 3 very thin for technical reasons (about 15 microns to 40 microns) are executed.
- the on the material regularly arranged samples of the security elements can be punched out as marks 3 and with a cold glue the stabilization layer 9 on a carrier film 28 made of paper or plastic.
- the mark 3 is pulled off the carrier film 28 and on the substrate 1 ( Figure 1) and the feature 2 ( Figure 1) glued.
- the embossing dies with raised embossing structures to produce the depressions 21 (FIG. 4a) and the one stamped on the bottom of the recesses Relief structures 12 (FIG. 4a) can be created using the numerically described in EP-A 330 738 controlled device are manufactured, wherein first a master structure shown in FIG. 7a 29 the embossing die is generated.
- the master structure 29 is on a structure carrier 30 attached. Once the master structure 29 is one-sided with the microscopic relief structures 12 of the pattern is stamped together with the structural support 30 from the device for Coating removed with a photoresist 31.
- the positive working photoresist 31 is in one Layer thickness between 1 to 10 ⁇ m over the relief structures 12 of the diffraction elements 4, 4 'and about the neutral areas 5 of the exposed master structure 29 applied all over, without the destroy embossed relief structures 12.
- the Layer thickness of the photoresist 31 determines the The height of the embossed structures and later corresponds at least to the distance A ( Figure 4a).
- the device exposes in a second pass the photoresist 31 with a write beam 32 through the structure support 30 of the master structure 29 through, the write beam 32 using the same control program the surfaces of the diffraction elements 4, 4 'controlled and exposes the photoresist 31.
- the procedure has the advantage that the photoresist 31 within limits 33 above the diffraction elements 4, 4 'exposed with great registration accuracy is because the structure support 30 by means of pins be repositioned precisely in the device can.
- a metal layer 35 is deposited.
- the metal layer 35 is z. B. made of nickel and is a exact negative of the master form 34.
- the stamping die can also be produced with a negative working photoresist 31, if the photoresist 31 in the unembossed areas 5 is exposed.
- the metal layer 35 forms one shown in Figure 8, for embossing the Carrier material 17 usable embossing die 36 with raised embossed structures 37.
- the embossing dies 36 have the advantage that that the relief structures 12 (FIG 4a) are generated in the depressions 21 (FIG. 4a). This enables the application of the above described inexpensive methods 2 and 3, which can be used especially for the filigree pattern are.
