Griffelemente im Bereich der Längsseitenwände sind grundsätzlich bekannt. Auch solche Griffelemente, die den oberen Wannenrand überragen. Der Nachteil derartiger an den Längsseitenwänden angeordneter Griffelemente besteht jedoch darin, daß hierdurch der für den Einstieg benötigte Freiraum in erheblichem Maße begrenzt wird. Demgemäß bietet die erfindungsgemäße Lösung, bei der das Griffelement vorzugsweise an der das Fußende begrenzenden Stirnseitenwand angeordnet ist, eine wesentliche Erleichterung für das Einsteigen bzw. das Aussteigen aus einer derartigen Badewanne. Dies gilt insbesondere für in der Bewegungsfähigkeit beeinträchtigte Personen. Der Benutzer kann hierbei zunächst das Griffelement erfassen, dann nacheinander unter Abstützung auf das Griffelement beide Beine in die Badewanne heben und sich dann erst in die Badewanne niedersetzen. Da sich hierbei der Oberkörper mit einem großen Teil seines Gewichtes über die Hände auf der Wanne abstützen kann, ergibt sich für diesen Bewegungsvorgang eine ganz wesentliche Entlastung. Für Badewannen mit lösbar ausgebildeter Verkleidungsschürze, beispielsweise einer aus Kunststoff geformten Verkleidungsschürze, ist in Ausgestaltung der Erfindung vorgesehen, daß die Trittstufe in die Verkleidungsschürze eingeformt ist und daß auf der Innenseite der Trittstufe ein Stützelement angeordnet ist. Das Stützelement kann hierbei mit dem Traggestell der Badewanne oder aber auch durch ein entsprechendes vorspringendes Bauteil am Wannenkasten gebildet werden. Die Trittstufe kann sich hierbei über die gesamte Wannenlänge oder über nur einen Teilbereich erstrecken.
