Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bracelet, in particular for a watch. It relates more particularly to a bracelet comprising rigid elements arranged in the same plane and which are articulated with respect to each other.
- Such bracelets are well known.
- the articulations between the elements are arranged so as to provide great flexibility to the bracelet essentially along its longitudinal direction, for example by placing these elements, or links, on transverse axes connecting them all together, while allowing them to rotate relative to each other.
- a such an arrangement of the elements gives this type of bracelet high rigidity in the transverse direction and in torsion, which constitutes a significant drawback since this rigidity, by preventing these bracelets from adapting perfectly to the shape of the wrist, makes them uncomfortable to wear.
- the present invention proposes to overcome this drawback.
- the bracelet according to the invention is particularly remarkable in that the elements are arranged so as to form a mosaic, in that each element is connected to an adjacent element by a connecting member, and in that this connecting member comprises means allowing the elements to which it is connected to pivot relative to one another according to three degrees of freedom.
- An advantage of the bracelet according to the invention is that it has great flexibility for both longitudinal and transverse or torsional deformations.
- Another advantage results from the fact that the mosaic arrangement of the elements, while giving the bracelet an original appearance, makes it possible to create a wide variety of decorative patterns.
- the reference 1 designates a rigid element, for example made of metal.
- the element is an equilateral triangle, one side of which is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet.
- Around this element are arranged, in contact with its sides, three elements 2a, 2b, 2c identical to element 1, and in contact with its vertices, three groups of three elements identical to the preceding, ie nine elements references 3a to 3i .
- Element 1 is therefore surrounded in total by twelve elements. These elements coming into contact with element 1 by one side or by a vertex, are called elements adjacent to element 1.
- the connecting member must be arranged so as to allow the elements between which it is arranged to be free to move angularly with respect to each other in all directions, that is to say to be able to pivot according to the three degrees of freedom.
- one day must still be made between the sides opposite two adjacent elements so that there is no obstacle to this pivoting whose amplitude, different according to the directions, can reach 20 degrees around the sides, and a few degrees in the plane of the bracelet.
- Such a structure then has great flexibility for bending deformations in all directions, and for torsion along any axis.
- the connecting member can advantageously be in the form of a rod or a rigid arm, the ends of which are anchored in the elements which it connects.
- the ends of the arm may include a ball joint which is received in a cavity of the corresponding element, the arm passing through this element through a lateral orifice.
- the pivoting of the arm around the two elements is not essential, one of the connections between the arm and one of the elements can thus be rigid.
- Other embodiments of the connecting member are of course possible.
- the arm could be made, using a thin metal blade or a plastic link, so that it has, while being inextensible, good flexibility in bending and twisting, the ends of the arm then being rigidly attached to the elements that this arm holds together.
- the connecting members can be arranged in a different way, by connecting two by two the six elements referenced 2c, 3f, 5a, 5b, 5c and 3g, these elements being adjacent by their vertices at a common point 8.
- element 2c is connected to element 5b, element 3f to element 5c and element 5a to item 3g. All the connecting members crossing at point 8, they can, without reducing the flexibility of the bracelet, be integral with each other at this point.
- FIG. 1b Another embodiment of the bracelet according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1b.
- the elements are all identical squares, the diagonals of each square being oriented parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet.
- the elements are arranged so that any element has eight adjacent elements, such as for example element 10 which is surrounded by the eight elements 11a at 11h.
- the connecting members are arranged in this embodiment, as in that shown in FIG. 1a, between two sides or between two vertices facing each other.
- the bracelet At the edge, the bracelet generally comprises truncated elements which are not shown. To keep these parts in place missing, it is sufficient that at least one connecting member connects them to the rest of the bracelet, and that the day between these elements and the adjacent elements is sufficiently low so that their lateral faces facing each other serving as support and keep the element in the plane of the bracelet. Of course with two connecting members, the maintenance of an element located at the edge of the bracelet poses no difficulty.
- the connecting members Seen from above the bracelet, the connecting members only appear through the day existing between the adjacent elements. As this day is very weak, they are practically invisible. However, these connecting members can also have a decorative role, as appears in FIG. 1 C.
- the connecting member, referenced 12 is arranged between square-shaped elements 13a, 13b which are separated by a significant distance. The central part of the connecting member is then visible and contributes to the aesthetics of the bracelet.
- the triangular or square elements of the bracelets shown in Figures 1a and 1b have regular shapes.
- the lines defined by the extensions of the sides of these elements thus define networks of straight lines parallel to each other and to the sides of these elements.
- at least part of the lines of a network could be oblique or even curved, making it possible to create, with elements then having an irregular shape, mosaics with the most varied aspects.
- FIG. 1d A preferred embodiment of the bracelet according to the invention, which will be described in detail is shown in FIG. 1d.
- the bracelet comprises two types of elements of different shapes, which makes it possible to break the monotony of an overly regular structure.
- the first elements, referenced 20, of the bracelet of FIG. 1d are squares comprising at each vertex a circular recess 21. They are arranged and oriented in the same way as the elements of the bracelet shown in FIG. 1b. It follows from this arrangement that the four recesses 21 of four elements 20 surrounding the same point, define in the bracelet a circular opening centered on this point.
- the first elements could advantageously have the shape of a diamond hollowed out at the vertices, the main diagonal being oriented in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet. As from the point of view of the construction of the bracelet the two variants are completely equivalent, the rest of the description will be made by taking as an example a square element.
- a second element of cylindrical shape Inside each circular opening defined by the four recesses 21 surrounding a point, is disposed a second element of cylindrical shape, referenced 22.
- the axis of symmetry of the cylinder is oriented perpendicular to the plane of the bracelet, and a day is provided between the first and second elements.
- the square elements alternating with the cylindrical elements, the bracelet has a special cachet.
- the elements of the bracelet in fig. 1b are held together using connecting members 23 arranged so that each of the second elements 22 is connected by a connecting member to each of the first elements 20 which surround it, and vice versa.
- the connecting members converging at the center of the second elements, they are integral with this element in the present embodiment.
- each first element can be connected to two opposite first adjacent elements, and each second element to two first adjacent and opposite opposite elements.
- the first element 20 of the bracelet of FIG. 1d is composed of two parts, a base 25, and a decorative cover 26 covering the base, these parts being shown respectively in FIGS. 3 and 2, in plan in a) and in section in b).
- the base 25 is a square section plate which comprises on its upper face, that which is opposite to the face coming into contact with the wrist, a wall 27 delimiting a housing 28.
- a wall 27 delimiting a housing 28.
- the vertices further include circular outlets 21a corresponding to the recesses 21 already described of the element 20.
- a hole 30 axially passes through the base at its center.
- the cover 26 is, for its part, also a square section plate, its upper face constituting the visible part of the element 20 from the top of the bracelet, while its lower face comes into contact with the upper face of the base 25 to hide it when the two pieces are together.
- the underside of the cover has a projecting part 31, the same height as the wall 27.
- This projecting part 31 is intended to take place in the housing 28 for positioning, bearing against the wall 27, the cover 26 on the base 25 , and to define four interior housings in element 20, which will be described later, with the connecting members.
- Circular recesses 21b extending those of the base, are made at the four peaks of the cover so that the recesses 21a and 21b form the recess 21 of the element 20.
- the cover 26 finally has in its center, and on the side of its lower face, a threaded blind hole 32.
- the second element 22 of the bracelet is shown in FIG. 4, in plan in a) and in section in b).
- This element comprises a cylindrical body 35, and a star 36 with four branches 37 which is set on the underside of the cylindrical member, its upper face being the face visible from above the bracelet of the element 22.
- Each arm constitutes a connecting member, referenced 23 in FIG. 1d, between element 22 and an adjacent element 20, and for this purpose it carries at its free end a stop member, or ball joint, 38.
- FIG. 5 The manner of assembling a first element 20 with a second element 22 of the bracelet of FIG. 1d is shown in plan in a) and in section in b) in FIG. 5.
- the element 22 On the base 25 of the element 20 is first placed, on the side of its upper face, the element 22 by engaging the ball joint 38 in the housing 28, the corresponding branch 37 then passing through a lateral opening 29 of the base.
- the cylindrical body 35 is in these conditions opposite the recess 21a, and the ball 38, of dimension greater than the opening 29, pressing against the wall 27.
- the cover 26 is applied to the base 25 so that the projecting part 31 takes place in the housing 28 while coming partially into contact with the wall 27 to position the cover on the base, and that the recess 21b comes opposite the cylindrical body 35.
- the projecting part further comprises notches allowing to delimit in the element 20 with the wall 27, an interior housing 39, disposed opposite each lateral opening 29 and in which the ball joint 38 is placed.
- a day 40 is provided between the branch 37 and the wall of the opening 29, another day 41 between the ball joint 38 and the wall delimit the interior housing 39, and yet another day 42 between the recess 21 of the element 20 and the cylindrical body 35 of the element 22.
- These days provide a certain play to the connecting member in element 20 which allows elements 20 and 22, always linked to each other, to pivot by a sufficient angle one around on the other in all directions.
- a screw 43 introduced into the threaded hole 32 through the hole 30, makes it possible to firmly fix the cover 26 on the base 25.
- the parts making up the elements 20 and 22 are preferably made of metal, possibly of noble metal, particularly those visible from above the bracelet, but other materials could also be used successfully for all or only part of these parts. , such as synthetic materials.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a bracelet, in particular for a watch. It relates more particularly to a bracelet comprising rigid elements arranged in the same plane and which are articulated with respect to each other.
Such bracelets are well known. In existing embodiments, the articulations between the elements are arranged so as to provide great flexibility to the bracelet essentially along its longitudinal direction, for example by placing these elements, or links, on transverse axes connecting them all together, while allowing them to rotate relative to each other. A such an arrangement of the elements, on the other hand, gives this type of bracelet high rigidity in the transverse direction and in torsion, which constitutes a significant drawback since this rigidity, by preventing these bracelets from adapting perfectly to the shape of the wrist, makes them uncomfortable to wear.
The present invention proposes to overcome this drawback.
To achieve this objective, the bracelet according to the invention is particularly remarkable in that the elements are arranged so as to form a mosaic, in that each element is connected to an adjacent element by a connecting member, and in that this connecting member comprises means allowing the elements to which it is connected to pivot relative to one another according to three degrees of freedom.
An advantage of the bracelet according to the invention is that it has great flexibility for both longitudinal and transverse or torsional deformations.
Another advantage results from the fact that the mosaic arrangement of the elements, while giving the bracelet an original appearance, makes it possible to create a wide variety of decorative patterns.
Ces éléments venant en contact de l'élément 1 par un côté ou par un sommet, sont appelés éléments adjacents à l'élément 1.In the embodiment of the bracelet according to the invention shown in FIG. 1a, the reference 1 designates a rigid element, for example made of metal. In this example, the element is an equilateral triangle, one side of which is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet. Around this element are arranged, in contact with its sides, three
Of course around an element adjacent to element 1, for
So that the mosaic formed of independent elements which has been described can be used for the production of a bracelet, these elements must be connected to each other to form a single piece. This can be achieved, for example, by connecting each element to the adjacent element which touches it from one side by means of a connecting member. Thus element 1 is connected, as shown in FIG. 1a, to the
In order that the object of the invention is achieved, the connecting member must be arranged so as to allow the elements between which it is arranged to be free to move angularly with respect to each other in all directions, that is to say to be able to pivot according to the three degrees of freedom. For the movement to be possible one day must still be made between the sides opposite two adjacent elements so that there is no obstacle to this pivoting whose amplitude, different according to the directions, can reach 20 degrees around the sides, and a few degrees in the plane of the bracelet. Such a structure then has great flexibility for bending deformations in all directions, and for torsion along any axis.
The connecting member can advantageously be in the form of a rod or a rigid arm, the ends of which are anchored in the elements which it connects. To ensure the pivoting of the elements, the ends of the arm may include a ball joint which is received in a cavity of the corresponding element, the arm passing through this element through a lateral orifice. The pivoting of the arm around the two elements is not essential, one of the connections between the arm and one of the elements can thus be rigid. Other embodiments of the connecting member are of course possible. For example, the arm could be made, using a thin metal blade or a plastic link, so that it has, while being inextensible, good flexibility in bending and twisting, the ends of the arm then being rigidly attached to the elements that this arm holds together.
The connecting members can be arranged in a different way, by connecting two by two the six elements referenced 2c, 3f, 5a, 5b, 5c and 3g, these elements being adjacent by their vertices at a
Another embodiment of the bracelet according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1b. In this embodiment, the elements are all identical squares, the diagonals of each square being oriented parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet. The elements are arranged so that any element has eight adjacent elements, such as for example element 10 which is surrounded by the eight
The preceding descriptions relate to the central part of the bracelet. At the edge, the bracelet generally comprises truncated elements which are not shown.
Seen from above the bracelet, the connecting members only appear through the day existing between the adjacent elements. As this day is very weak, they are practically invisible. However, these connecting members can also have a decorative role, as appears in FIG. 1 C. In this embodiment, the connecting member, referenced 12, is arranged between square-
The triangular or square elements of the bracelets shown in Figures 1a and 1b have regular shapes. The lines defined by the extensions of the sides of these elements thus define networks of straight lines parallel to each other and to the sides of these elements. Of course at least part of the lines of a network could be oblique or even curved, making it possible to create, with elements then having an irregular shape, mosaics with the most varied aspects.
A preferred embodiment of the bracelet according to the invention, which will be described in detail is shown in FIG. 1d. In this embodiment, the bracelet comprises two types of elements of different shapes, which makes it possible to break the monotony of an overly regular structure.
The first elements, referenced 20, of the bracelet of FIG. 1d are squares comprising at each vertex a
Inside each circular opening defined by the four
The elements of the bracelet in fig. 1b are held together using connecting
The connecting members can of course be arranged between the elements of the bracelet in a different way, without the bracelet leaving the scope of the present invention. By example each first element can be connected to two opposite first adjacent elements, and each second element to two first adjacent and opposite opposite elements.
The manner of assembling a
The parts making up the
It goes without saying that the bracelet which has just been described may undergo further modifications than those already mentioned, obvious to a person skilled in the art, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
