Description

UNIT COMPRISING BATHTUB AND SHOWER CUBICLE
The equipping of increasingly smaller bathroom gives rise to new problems in the design of sanitary appli¬ ances, which have to be fitted into smaller spaces without however losing their functionality
This is particularly the case with bathtubs and shower cubicles which, being of large dimensions and very different from each other, are difficult to coordinate, one with the other without wasting space or using totally irrational arrangements, particular¬ ly with regard to the waste layout.
This is made possible according to the invention by arranging the bathtub with its longitudinal axis sub- εtantially lying along the diagonal of the available space, so as to define on the two opposite sides of the bathtub two angular regions, one of which is in¬ tended to act as a support surface for objects and to receive the bathtub taps, while the other iε intended to receive the shower cubicle.
The said arrangement can be formed from shell struc¬ tures of synthetic material such aε methacrylate, which are fitted together and partly superposed.
The merits and characteristics of the invention will be more apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter with reference to the accompanying draw¬ ings in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention;

The invention compriseε a block of εubεtantially rec- tangular or square plan, composed of a lower base 1 on which an upper shell structure 2 is superposed.
In the shell εtructure 2 there iε provided a bathtub 3 which lies substantially with its axis parallel to a plan diagonal of the base 1 and from the upper edge of which there extends a horizontal surface.
Thiε εurface comprises a first angular region 4 occu¬ pying a corner through which the other diagonal passes.
The region 4 receives the feed tap 5 and its opera- ting levers 6.
The angular region 7 opposite the region 4 receives the shower tray 8.
Both said regions 4 and 7 are adjacent to the long sideε of the bathtub 3.
The εhell εtructure 2 iε depressed close to the side of the bathtub in the region 7 to form the tray 8 of the shower cubicle 9.
The tray 8 when viewed in plan is substantially of triangular, trapezoidal or circular sector shape or of composite shape.
One side of the cubicle 9 is defined by a tiled wall 10 of the room in which the unit of the invention is installed. Other two walls of the cubicle are defined by perspex sheetε 11 and 12 εupported by a uεual frame 13.
The firεt of these walls compriseε the access door to the cubicle.
At the edge of the bathtub in the region 7 there are provided usual seal means along the joining lines between the shell structure 2 and the walls 11 and 12.
In the illustrated example the unit of the invention occupies a plan space of about 180 cm x 150 cm and can be installed between two or three wallε of the bathroom.
Shape modificationε can obviously be made to the in¬ vention, for example εome cornerε of the shell struc- tures 1 and 2 can be rounded in plan view, or other corners can be made more acute, without for thiε rea¬ son leaving the scope of the inventive idea as here¬ inafter claimed.

PATENT CLAIM
1. A unit comprising a bathtub and a shower cubicle, characterised by comprising a block of rectangular or square plan in which there are provided: a bathtub arranged with its longitudinal axis εub- stantially parallel to a plan diagonal of the block; a shower tray occupying in plan view a corner of the block through which the other diagonal passes; a surface for receiving taps and occupying in plan view a corner of the block opposite the corner in which the shower tray iε poεitioned.
