Abstract
Description
The ring gantries intended for competition gymnastics, currently used, have functional dimensions determined by the International Gymnastics Federation.
These relate to the height of the ground at the top of the gantry, the length of the cables and straps connecting the rings to the crossbar of the top of the gantry by means of ball bearings allowing permanent axial rotation of the cables on which are hanging on the rings, intended to give total freedom to the gymnast when he moves around the rings.
The current gantry has amounts allowing during a violent exercise to bend the entire gantry.
The major drawback of this apparatus, by design and given the evolution of gymnastics, is its rigidity, which causes trauma to the spine (at the lumbar level) and at the shoulders, and transmits to the gymnast's body all the vibrations of the uprights of the gantries and the cables.
In addition, ring exercises are limited by the fact that gymnasts never let go of the rings outside of the exit.
The object of the invention is to eliminate these drawbacks and to allow an evolution of the exercises in this apparatus with regard to the releases and the catching up of the rings before the exit.
- 1) The top crossbar in the same material but much longer so that it can only flex and give flexibility, or in another material, either composite material or hardened steel, etc.
- 2) The articulation of the top bar with the uprights mounted on silentblock, which has the effect not only of giving additional flexibility but of canceling the residual vibrations of the uprights and the retaining cables.
- 3) The cables connecting the top crossbar to the rings are replaced by a rigid fiberglass or other material rod which will allow during releases a controlled swing preventing them from leaving anarchically in all directions.
- 4) The effect of the thrust ball bearings will be canceled when the gymnast releases the rings. These will stop in the exact rotation plane where they are at the time of the release, which will make it easier to catch them.
The first two points have the effect of significantly reducing trauma.
the
The
The
Figure 4 shows the self-

The flexibility of the ring bar can also be made adjustable, which allows the same gantry to be used both for training exercises (maximum flexibility) and for competitions (flexibility canceled).
Figure 5 shows the upper part of the portal thus arranged. The very
The
It suffices to move the
When the
