Description

The present invention relates to a device for the rehabilitation of walking, that is to say, devices more known as the walker.

The object of the present invention is in particular to provide an apparatus for suspending the patient to be re-educated and in which the patient's suspension force can be easily adjusted and modified as the progress of the reeducation progresses, the patient having a small effort to provide to maintain vertical station, and the apparatus making any fall impossible.

The apparatus, according to the invention, is of the type comprising a mobile support assembly for the patient to be reeducated and is characterized in that it comprises a harness mounted on the support, and inserted between said harness and the mobile support, means for adjusting the strength of the support of said patient to reeducate.

Preferably, the apparatus is of the type comprising a frame mounted on steerable wheels, said apparatus being characterized in that it comprises a vertical frame, the harness being carried by a frame articulated on a horizontal axis, between said frame and the vertical frame being inserted, at least, a pneumatic cylinder connected to a suitable reservoir of fluid under pressure. With this arrangement, the patient is resiliently suspended, the cylinder piston being slidable against the air pressure in the tank.

According to a particular feature, the pressurized fluid reservoir is carried by the frame and comprises a filling nozzle, a pressure gauge and a valve.

It is thus possible to adjust the pressure in the tank.

The frame may comprise handles provided with control members for a brake.

According to a constructive feature, the handles each comprise a movable brake handle connected by cables to sliding pads under the frame and intended to bear against the ground.

According to another constructive feature, the frame is constituted by a U-shaped bar with two longitudinal members and a cross-member, the frame extending vertically in the vicinity of the cross-member and comprising two uprights connected to their free end with a cross-member, said posts being reinforced by struts and each supporting a bracket, the latter being turned on the opposite side opposite the free end of the side members, said brackets being connected by an axis on which articulates the frame supporting the harness, a jack being interposed between each of the uprights of the frame and corresponding sides of said frame, the frame supporting the compressed air reservoir which is connected by flexible pipes to the cylinders.

According to an alternative embodiment, the support assembly is constituted by a carriage movable on a rail intended to be fixed to a ceiling, the carriage comprising a support for a compressed air reservoir connected to a pneumatic jack carried by said carriage while the harness is mounted on the extremity free of a lever mounted tilting on a horizontal axis against the action of the pneumatic cylinder.

Finally, the pneumatic cylinder is supported by a ch-ape articulated at an intermediate point of the length of the carriage.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to particular embodiments, given by way of example only and represented in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a walker apparatus according to the invention;
Figure 2 shows in perspective, a detail of the apparatus of Figure 1.

Figure 3 shows in perspective, a walker apparatus according to an alternative embodiment.

The apparatus shown in FIG. 1 comprises a U-shaped frame 1 having two longitudinal members 2 and two crosspieces 3, said chassis 1 being supported by four orientable rollers 4 arranged in the vicinity of the ends of the longitudinal members.

In the vicinity of the cross members 3 is a frame 5 comprising two vertical uprights 6 connected at their free end by a cross member 7 and struts 8 extending from the ends of the side members 2 adjacent to the cross members 3 to an intermediate point the length of the uprights 6.

On the uprights 6 are fixed brackets 10 each formed of two bars 11 and 12 welded together by one end to form a V and whose ex free ends are welded to the uprights 6 in the vicinity of the upper end thereof and on the side of the struts 8.

The brackets 10 are connected by an axis 14 on which a movable frame 15 is articulated, one of whose sides 16 parallel to the axis 14 has loops 17 which are traversed by straps 18 of a harness 19 intended to be fixed to the body of the patient to be reeducated and shown in detail in Figure 2.

Between each longitudinal side 20 of the movable frame 15 and each corresponding upright 6 is inserted a single acting pneumatic jack 21. The piston rod 22 of each cylinder 21 is connected articulated on the corresponding side 20 while 10 bodies of each said cylinder 21 is articulated
on the corresponding amount 6.

There is a compressed air reservoir 25 fixed on the crosspieces 3 and connected by flexible pipes 26 to the cylinders 21, said reservoir comprising a pressure gauge 27, a valve 28 to allow at least part of the emptying and a filling tip 24.

The uprights comprise handles 30 which can be fixed at different heights and which comprise brake handles 31 which, when pressed, control by a cable and a sheath 32, a pad 33 intended to abut against the ground to immobilize the lug. 'apparatus.

The harness 19 comprises, attached to the straps 18, a belt 55 which supports a pocket 56 pierced with holes 57 for the passage of the legs and which thus constitutes a kind of slip in the openings of which are engaged the legs of the patient.

The straps 18 are connected by straps 58 and 59 to prevent them from moving apart.

The patient to be rehabilitated is suspended from the harness 19 and the pressure of compressed air is regulated in the reservoir 25 according to the weight of the said patient and the load which is admissible by his lower limbs. The patient can, therefore, safely, and following his trauma, practice a continuous and progressive rehabilitation in both walking pendulum and four-stroke. It is conceivable that the patient is thus suspended elastically and that the piston of the jack can slide against the action of the pressure maintained in the reservoir, the latter being regulated according to the weight of the patient and the load bearable by its inferior limbs. laughing.

In Figure 3, there is shown a simplified variant of the apparatus according to the invention. In this embodiment, there is provided an I-beam 35 suspended from the ceiling and on which roll two roller trains 36 mounted idle on a carriage 37 having a support 38 on which is fixed, by a strap 39, a tank 40 of air compressed.

On the carriage 37 is articulated, on an axis 42, 1 'one of the ends of a lever 43 whose free end carries a harness 44. On the carriage 37, on an axis 45, are fixed two branches of a clevis 46 whose core 47 supports a jack 48 whose piston rod 49 is connected to the lever 43.

The jack 48 is a pneumatic cylinder and is connected by a pipe 50 to the tank 40, which comprises a manometer 51, a filling nozzle 52 and a drain valve 53.

Such an arrangement can be mounted in all rooms, even if the ceiling has a reduced height.

The patient is suspended from the harness 44 and, as in the embodiment of FIG. 1, according to its weight and the load that its lower limbs can support, the pressure is regulated in the reservoir 40 so that the patient is suspended in a proper manner.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments that have just been described and shown. We can make many changes in details without departing, for that, the scope of the invention.
