Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine with more than two hanging valves per cylinder, which are actuated via rocker arms, each rocker arm being mounted individually on the cylinder head via a bridge.
From DE-OS 37 43 854 a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine is known, in which the abutments of the rocker arms are used in a camshaft cover. The two exhaust valves are actuated by separate rocker arms in this known cylinder head. A common fork rocker arm is provided for the two inlet valves.
The basic requirement for such an arrangement is that the camshaft is arranged centrally approximately in the region of the plane connecting the cylinder axes. This requires a relatively high construction, which can lead to problems in motor vehicles in which a flat bonnet is desired. Another disadvantage of the known cylinder head is that a large number of different components are necessary, which complicates production and storage. In addition, the fork rocker arms have proven to be problematic in practice.
The object of the present invention is to create a cylinder head in which the largest possible number of identical parts is used and which is to be as compact as possible. In particular, a low overall height should be achieved.
According to the invention this is achieved in that two rocker arms are provided per cylinder, at least one of which acts on a valve bridge for actuating two valves of the same function, in addition that the at least one valve bridge is mounted on the bridge, and in that the pivot points of the rocker arms have a different one Have a distance to the cylinder center plane.
It is particularly advantageous in the invention that even in the event that the valves are not arranged axially parallel to the engine center plane, the same rocker arms can be used, since the pivot point can be chosen arbitrarily for each rocker arm. The elimination of the rocker arm shaft allows extensive design freedom in the construction of the cylinder head. Due to the low position of the camshaft in the cylinder head, a particularly low overall height of the engine can be achieved. In particular, this can prevent the camshaft drive wheel, which normally projects high above the cylinder head, from protruding beyond the contour of the valve cover.
By attaching the valve bridge to the bridge, there is no need for a valve bridge guide arranged between the valves, which is always very problematic in terms of design.
An extensive freedom from maintenance is achieved in that an element for automatic valve clearance compensation is provided on the bridge. The element for valve clearance compensation is most advantageously integrated into the mounting of the rocker arm.
In a further preferred embodiment variant of the invention it is provided that elements for automatic valve play compensation are provided in the valve bridge. This ensures that the valve clearance is correct even if individual valves are set differently.
- Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach Linie II-II in Fig. 1 und

- Fig. 2 shows a section along line II-II in Fig. 1 and
- Fig. 3 shows a further embodiment variant in a section corresponding to FIG. 2.
