Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for optimizing the adaptation of hearing aids, in which at least the parameters of the effective acoustic amplification in different frequency ranges and the maximum permissible sound pressure level are initially set as part of a preset as a function of the individual hearing loss and then an individual as a function of the subjective perception Correction of setting parameters is made.
  • the hearing device that best takes account of the individual circumstances is selected and, on the other hand, the respective device with regard to the required amplification in the various frequency ranges and with regard to the maximum permissible sound pressure level and also the minimum desired sound pressure level is set as best as possible to take into account the type and degree of the particular hearing loss and to ensure that the maximum output sound pressure level is sufficiently high above the hearing threshold, but does not exceed the discomfort threshold.
  • the object of the invention is to significantly improve the individual adaptation of hearing aids and to take into account the later preferred wearing environment.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in that, when presetting from a large number of standard listening situations which are stored on a data storage medium, a first number of individually dominating listening situations is selected such that the selected standard listening situations at least with regard to frequency and level distribution and maximum level value are compared with a significantly reduced second number of hearing situation classes averaged from similar standard hearing situations, and that the parameters of that hearing situation class are used for presetting, their frequency and level distribution and their maximum level value are the least deviations from the largest possible number of the selected standard listening situations.
  • This setting which takes the preferred wearing environment into account, makes it possible to take into account the hearing requirements of hearing-impaired persons, so that typical interference noises for the special hearing situations can be suppressed and useful signals or useful signal areas that occur preferably can be amplified accordingly.
  • the scope of the invention provides for a large number of standard listening situations, such as speaking with a babble of voices in the background to record sporting events, television performances, road traffic situations and the like with high quality and high dynamics on a data carrier, for example a compact disk, and to form so-called hearing situation classes on the basis of these typical standard listening situations.
  • hearing situation classes corresponds to a concentration of the data material comprising all standard hearing situations, whereby comparable standard hearing situations are assigned to a listening situation class with regard to the frequency and level curve as well as the occurring maximum level, and are characteristic within this listening situation class, for example, by averaging or weighted averaging for the relevant hearing situation class Values can be determined and these objective setting parameters can be assigned.
  • Practice has shown that it is possible to reduce a large number of standard hearing situations to a few, for example four to six hearing situation classes.
  • the standard hearing situations are selected in collaboration with the hearing impaired person from the standard hearing situations that are played to him, that is to say brought to the ear, which, according to the patient, correspond to the later preferred wearing environment of the hearing device.
  • the patient has out of fifty typical ones Standard hearing situations are selected ten hearing situations characteristic of his living environment, then a parameter determination for the purpose of presetting the hearing aids is carried out using the method according to the invention.
  • the selected standard listening situations are compared at least with regard to frequency and level distribution and maximum level value, in particular using corresponding comparison and evaluation devices, with the corresponding values characteristic of the hearing situation classes formed, and the parameters of the hearing situation class, their frequency and level distribution and theirs are then used for presetting Level maximum value has the smallest deviations from the largest possible number of selected standard listening situations.
  • the use of the method according to the invention thus makes it possible, taking into account the later preferred wearing environment and using a special data compression, to select a suitable hearing aid and also to carry out the presetting.
  • the pre-set hearing aid is then fine-tuned in such a way that the stored and retrievable sound samples are played to the patient wearing the preset hearing aid in the form of listening situations with high dynamics, whereupon individual corrections in terms of volume and tone color can then be carried out and thus the hearing care professional
  • individual fine adjustments can be made on the basis of average values, and in a much simpler form and much faster than with all previously known methods.
