Claims (8)

  1. Device for grinding rails, in particular rail joints, with a grinding wheel (3) that can be advanced towards the rail joint and is held by a grinding wheel carrier (1); the grinding wheel carrier (1) moving in longtitudinal guides (8) which rest against the rail (5) at both sides of the grinding point and can be swung around the rail (5); the longitudinal guides (8) moving in transversal guides (13) at their ends and being kept at the same distance from the actual rail section by means of supports, in particular rollers (16), resting against the rail (5), characterized in that the transversal guides (13) follow a curved path (18) which runs largely parallel to the ideal rail (5) section so that the longitudinal guides (8) are mainly swung around the respective centres of the bending radiuses of the ideal rail (5) section.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the curved paths (18) for guiding the grinding wheel carrier (1) are arranged on the posts (24) of a frame.
  3. Device according to claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the grinding wheel carrier (1) can be displaced in its curved paths (18) on both sides by means of a motor.
  4. Device according to one of the claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the grinding wheel carrier (1) is guided in the curved paths (18) by means of two cambered rollers (17) each and engages with the corresponding roller carriers (14) at the end of a traction element (20), guided over deflection pulleys (21).
  5. Device according to claim 4, characterized in that the traction element is a toothed belt.
  6. Device according to claim 4 or 5, characterized in that two opposing deflection pulleys (21) are connected by means of a shaft (22).
  7. Device according to one of the claims 1 to 6, characterized in that a slightly conical seat (27) laterally embracing the rail is provided on each side to support the device; two arms (28) with tong-like interaction, which engage at the bottom of the rail head, are provided for this seat (28).
  8. Device according to one of the claims 2 to 7, characterized in that the automatic control system (26) of the device is situated in the horizontal branch (25) of the frame.
