Description

The invention relates to stackable letter baskets which have a base, two mutually parallel side walls projecting vertically upwards, delimited by a free upper edge, a rear wall connecting the side walls to the rear and two in pairs at a distance from one another on the floor near each side wall have foot pieces protruding downward and a spacer which can be plugged onto the upper edge of the side walls of a lower letter tray and a pair of foot pieces of an upper letter tray which has a positive fit.

Letter baskets of this type can be stacked on top of one another in order to create a plurality of compartments arranged one above the other for the orderly holding of documents in a confined space. In order to facilitate access to the letter trays, the letter baskets are open on the front and often also have an access opening on the bottom that is open at the front. A further improvement in this regard can be achieved in that the stacked letter trays can be moved relative to one another. Nevertheless, the depth of the letter baskets is often not sufficient to accommodate a given amount of documents and to pick out individual documents from a compartment without lifting off the letter basket above.

In the case of stackable letter trays of the type specified at the outset, it is known (US Pat. No. 4,657,148) to slidably mount a spacer on the side walls of the lower letter tray in order to increase the vertical distance between the letter tray bases. The spacers are provided there with upper support legs, which point horizontally into the inside of the letter basket, for supporting the upper letter basket and have lower, the vertical side walls of the lower letter basket alternately in the longitudinal direction on the inside and outside overlapping clamping tongues on their holder. In this way, several letter baskets can be stacked and staggered against each other. However, they can tilt sideways under load or unintentionally separate from one another when accessed.

Proceeding from this, the invention has for its object to take measures to increase the spacing and the capacity of stackable letter trays that ensure a stable stack connection between the letter trays with simple assembly.

To achieve this object, the features specified in claim 1 are proposed. Further advantageous refinements and developments of the invention result from the dependent claims.

The invention is based on the idea of providing one of the side wall upper edges with a widened edge pointing towards the outside of the letter box and the spacer with at least one surface lying flat on the edge and overlying it on the outside with a guide rib, so as to make it easy to install and sufficiently rigid to enlarge the compartment The spacer brackets lying flat on the letter basket rim ensure a stable, tilt-free stack connection.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the spacer extends over part of the side wall length, with its lower edge supporting on the upper side wall edge, laterally guided on the side wall and displaceable along the upper side wall edge, in plugged state with the side wall aligned spacer. The closed spacer at the same time enlarges the side wall, so that good guidance is ensured when inserting documents into the lower basket and there is no jamming of the documents. Furthermore, the letter baskets can be shifted against each other in the longitudinal direction.

The spacer is advantageously designed as an angle piece which has a support leg which is bent vertically at the upper edge of the spacer leg and has two openings arranged at a distance from one another for the positive reception of a pair of base parts of the upper letter tray.

The lateral guidance of the spacers is expediently carried out by two guide ribs which project outside and inside on the spacer leg downwards and beyond the lower edge and overlap the upper side wall laterally on the inside and outside. At least one of the guide ribs can consist of two parts arranged at a distance from one another, the guide ribs or their parts advantageously being offset from one another in the longitudinal direction of the lower edge.

In order to achieve an even better anchoring of the spacer, the guide rib can also be provided with a bend that grips under the edge on the outside. If, on the other hand, in the region of the side wall top edge of the letter tray opposite the widened edge and in at least one of the guide ribs of the associated spacer leg, interlocking, wedge-shaped or curved undercuts are provided, and thereby the undercuts Spacer leg expediently tiltable about an axis parallel to the lower edge relative to the side wall in question, any manufacturing tolerances can be easily compensated for during assembly without the stability of the stack connection suffering as a result. The undercuts also provide a snap-in connection between the spacer and the lower letter basket, so that the respective upper letter basket can be removed upwards without the spacer being accidentally released.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the base parts molded onto the floor have a cylindrical outer surface, while the openings in the support leg are correspondingly circular. The openings are arranged in the spacers so that the spacer leg forms with its inner surface a tangent surface delimiting the outer vertex of the circular openings. If, on the letter trays, an additional support cam is formed on the outside of the root of the foot parts, which can be supported with its base-side support surface essentially on the upper edge of the spacer leg of the associated spacer, the load of the upper letter trays is passed directly down over the spacer legs without that there is a moment load on the support legs. The support legs with their foot openings therefore have a positive locking function, due to which a displacement of the upper letter tray along the upper edge of the lower letter tray is made possible.

To limit the displacement movement, the widened edge has a bend, which is also designed as a front stop for the spacer and points obliquely downwards, while a stop cam projecting downwards can be provided for the spacer in the rear part of the widened edge.

The cylindrical base parts advantageously have a downwardly open, cup-shaped or annular cavity for receiving an elastomeric insert protruding downward.

Die eine zylindrische Mantelfläche aufweistenden Fußteile 20 enthalten einen nach unten offenen ringförmigen Hohlraum 32, der mit einem nach unten überstehenden elastomeren Einsatzstück bestückbar ist.1 shows a stack of letter baskets with two identically designed letter baskets 10 ′ and 10 ″, which have a bottom 12 corrugated on the underside and smooth on the top, two side walls 14, 16 delimiting the bottom, one the side walls 14, 16 have at their rear end connecting rear wall 18 and four bottom parts pointing downwards in pairs near the left and right side walls 14, 16 arranged foot parts 20. The bottom 12 has an insertion bevel 22 on the front, in which an open-edge gripping recess 24 which facilitates access to the respective lower mail tray is arranged. The upper edge 26 of the left side wall 14 is relatively narrow and has a curved undercut 27 on the outside of the basket. In contrast, in the area of the upper edge 28 of the right side wall 16, an edge 30 which extends over the entire length of the side wall and is projecting outwards is formed. The foot parts 20, which have a cylindrical outer surface, contain an annular cavity 32 which is open at the bottom and which can be fitted with an elastomeric insert projecting downwards.

The two letter baskets 10 ', 10''of the stack shown in FIG. 1 are held at a distance from one another by two angular spacers 40, 42, the lower edge of which 44 and 46 are supported on the upper edge 26 and 28 of the lower letter tray 10 'and the upper letter tray 10''is positively supported on the inward-pointing support leg 48. The spacer leg 50 of the spacers 40, 42, which is perpendicular to the support leg 48, is aligned with the side walls 14, 16 of the stacked letter trays 10 ', 10''in the attached state. In the area of the lower edge of the spacer leg 50, laterally inwardly and outwardly projecting, downwardly pointing guide ribs 52, 54 and 54 'are arranged, which are arranged offset with respect to one another in the longitudinal direction. The left spacer can be plugged onto the narrow upper edge 26 of the left side wall 14 with the relatively narrow gap 56 delimited by the guide ribs 52, 54 and can be pivoted back and forth to a limited extent about an axis parallel to the upper edge 26. The undercuts 27, 27 ′ in the area of the outer guide ribs 54 and the upper edge 26 ensure a certain latching action in the vertical alignment of the spacer leg 42, which prevents the spacer from being inadvertently lifted off the side wall 14.
In the case of the right spacer 42, the outer guide ribs 54 'are formed on a bracket 58 which is supported flatly on the widened edge 30 in the region of the upper edge 28 of the right side wall 16. Furthermore, the guide ribs 54 'are provided with a bend 60 which encompasses the outer edge of the edge 30 in a form-fitting manner.

The support legs 48 are provided with circular openings 62 which are arranged at a distance from one another and into which the downwardly pointing cylindrical foot parts 20 of the upper letter basket 10 ″ engage in a form-fitting manner. As a result, the upper letter basket 10 'together with the two spacers can be displaced to a limited extent in the longitudinal direction of the side walls 14, 16 of the lower letter basket 10'. The front bend 46 of the widened edge 30 of the lower mail basket 10 'serves as a front stop for the bend 60 of the right spacer 42, while a downward-facing projection formed near the rear end of the edge 30 serves as a rear sliding stop 63.

A support cam 65 is formed on the outside of the letter baskets and adjoins the root of the foot parts 20 and can be supported with its base-side support surface 66 on the upper edge 26, 28 of the spacer leg 50 of the associated spacer 40, 42. As a result, the load of the upper letter basket 10 ″ is passed downward directly via the spacer legs 50, without causing any significant moment load via the support legs 48.
