Description

The invention relates to a protective device for vehicles according to the preamble of claim 1.

It is known, in particular for personal protection, to use fully or partially armored motor vehicles against fire. Fully armored vehicles are relatively heavy and costly, while partially armored vehicles offer inadequate protection. In particular, e.g. the regular emergency vehicles of the police, civil patrols, border guards, customs officers are in no way protected against shelling by handguns.

According to US-A-4,331,359, a protective device for vehicles, in particular for motor vehicles, with protective armor made of material that is resistant to bombardment is already known. In this case, a protective plate is arranged in the vehicle door and can be extended by means of actuating elements.

A 1 374 081.FR-A 1 374 081 also shows a protective direction for vehicles, a protective plate being arranged on the body so that it can be extended.

However, such protective devices only offer protection limited to the upper area of the vehicle. When the vehicle door is open, however, there is no protection in the area below the door.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a protective device for vehicles which offers protection both in the upper area and in the area below the vehicle door, which is thus highly effective and at the same time simple and inexpensive and can be easily installed in existing vehicles.

This object is achieved in accordance with the features of patent claim 1.

The protective plates bring about a considerable increase in the protective surface area of the vehicle when extended. For example, the vehicle door with extended protective plates has a sufficiently large protective shield against fire from small arms, advantageously a viewing slit enabling secure observation or, if necessary, a defense. By means of an unlocking device, the vehicle door serving as a protective shield can also advantageously be detached from the body and brought into an optimal protective position corresponding to the direction of the threat.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the subclaims.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown.

Es zeigen:

Show it:
Fig. 1

Fig. 2
1 with a protective plate extended upwards and downwards,
Fig. 3
a vehicle door according to FIG. 1 in longitudinal section.

A fixed protective plate 2, in particular made of a material corresponding to the desired protection level, is installed in a vehicle door 1. In parallel to the protective plate 2, two protective plates 4 extendable up and down on guide rails 3 are arranged, which can be actuated via a pneumatic or hydraulic drive 5 or mechanically via a trigger switch 6 arranged in the vehicle door 1. A mechanical safety circuit 7 ensures that the protective plate which can be extended downwards can only be extended from a certain opening angle when the vehicle door is open. The operating pressure for extending the movable protective plates 4 e.g. serving compressed air bottle can be checked by means of a valve 8 attached to the door frame and refilled if necessary. A viewing slit 9 is provided in the protective plate 4 which can be extended upwards. By means of an unlocking device 10 connected to the vehicle door 1, the vehicle door 1, which serves as a protective shield after the movable protective plates 4 have been extended, can be detached from the body and brought into an optimal protective position corresponding to the direction of the threat.
