Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an articulated prosthetic foot with a resilient foot insert provided within the prosthesis body, which absorbs and transmits the prosthesis loads and has an upper horizontal leg that forms the upper end of the prosthetic foot and a connection possibility with the prosthesis, and a lower leg that is opposite the upper one Leg is elongated and extends with its free end into the toe area to achieve a high forefoot elasticity in connection with a high energy storage capacity when forefoot.
OF REHABILITATION RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, Bd. 22, Nr.3 BPR 10-42, Seiten 75-84, insbesondere Abbildung 6).A corresponding embodiment has become known through the so-called Seattle foot (see VETERANS ADMINISTRATION - JOURNAL OF REHABILITATION RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, Vol. 22, No. 3 BPR 10-42, pages 75-84, in particular Figure 6).
The function of a prosthetic foot essentially depends on its elastic properties. These are determined by material, shape and arrangement of the elastic components used.
Depending on the intended area of application, which can range from normal walking on a plain to sporting activities such as jogging, running, jumping, depending on the amputee's inclinations, the requirements for such components are very different, especially with regard to their work capacity and the closely related nature concerns the current course of their spring characteristics during loading and unloading.
The recent developments of articulated prosthetic feet for the widest possible range of use differ from the classic concept of the SACH foot in that they supplement the rigid foot core in the forefoot area with spring elements or replace it entirely with such elements (e.g. SEATTLE foot) to increase the forefoot elasticity and thus also to improve the energy storage capacity in the forefoot. The concept of heel elasticity is largely unchanged by a foam wedge in the heel area.
The invention has for its object to develop a prosthetic foot of the type described above with improved properties.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the one-piece, at least one plantar and dorsiflexion as well as an axial compression allowing foot insert in the longitudinal foot section has an approximately S-shaped design, said upper leg having a front that adjoins it at an obtuse angle Inclined leg forms an overall rigid angle element, at the lower end of which is connected a middle, leaf spring-like leg, which approximates at its rear end via a semicircular leg connection is connected to the lower leg.
To achieve a more natural sequence of movements for the prosthesis wearer, it is expedient if the lower end of the rigid angle element extends forward to approximately the area of the basic toe joints.
In order to shift the bend of the lower leg of the foot insert further forward as the forefoot angle increases, it is advantageous if the lower leg of the foot insert has an upper bulge below the connection area of the middle leg at the lower end of the rigid angle, with the arch above it lying surface of the mentioned connection area includes a slightly wedge-shaped opening air gap to the front.
According to the invention, the foot insert should be designed in such a way that the upper leg of the foot insert can be twisted in a horizontal plane relative to the lower leg, that is, it allows torsion and thereby rotation of the prosthetic foot about a vertical axis. It is furthermore advantageous if the upper leg of the foot insert can be twisted in the frontal plane lying perpendicularly and transversely to the walking direction in relation to the lower leg in order to adapt to inclinations transverse to the walking direction. According to the invention, it is possible that the force-displacement or angle-moment characteristic of the spring-elastic properties (spring characteristics) determining the mentioned swivels or deformations are determined solely by the S-shaped foot insert. However, the spring characteristics mentioned can also be achieved in the interaction of the S-shaped foot insert with additional spring-elastic components.
Plantar flexion is achieved by reducing the angle enclosed between the front oblique leg and the middle leg in a plane perpendicular to the pelvis and parallel to the running direction. Dorsiflexion results from reducing the distance of the lower end of the front oblique leg from the surface of the lower leg of the foot insert.
In order to prevent the upper leg of the foot insert from spreading too much under load compared to the middle leg acting as a leaf spring, it is advantageous if a bending limiter is provided for the free end of the upper leg of the foot insert.
The prosthesis body preferably forms a one-piece cosmetic envelope which encloses all functional elements and has no fastening elements on the outside. The prosthesis body can be designed so that it offers a partial support function in the last area of the stance phase for foot use. In particular, it is advantageous if the prosthesis body, with the exception of its upper connection surface, is completely encased by a skin-forming outer plastic foam layer, which encloses an inner foot made of plastic foam and extending into the toe region.
Further features of the invention are the subject of the subclaims and are explained in more detail in connection with further advantages of the invention using exemplary embodiments.

The jointless prosthetic foot shown in FIG. 1 has a
The
The
In order to prevent the
According to FIG. 1, the
The cosmetic envelope forming the
Figure 4 shows a slightly modified embodiment in which the
In both embodiments of the
