  1. A box in the form of a flat pack for storing elongate objects (1), in particular tools such as twist drills, screw taps, saw blades and the like, having a box bottom portion (2) comprising a base portion (3) and at least three side portions (4, 5) connected thereto at the edge, and a cover portion (6) which is mounted pivotably to the box bottom portion (2) and which in the closed position is held to the box bottom portion (2) by a severable security member (7), characterised in that when the box is closed the cover portion (6) is embraced at its edges by the side portions (4, 5), wherein the side portions (4, 5) project with their upper free edges (4.1) beyond the outside surface of the cover portion (6), and that provided on the cover portion (6) is at least one gripping strip portion (8) which projects laterally in a plane parallel to the surface of the cover portion (6).
  2. A box according to claim 1 characterised in that the cover portion (6) has two gripping strip portions (8) which project at the edges extending perpendicularly to the hinge axis (9), at the ends thereof remote from the hinge axis (9), and that the side portions (4) of the box bottom portion (2) are each provided with a respective edge recess (10) for receiving the gripping strip portions (8), wherein the cover portion (6) is provided with closure portions (11) which adjoin the gripping strip portions (8) and which extend perpendicularly to the surface and which cover over the edge recesses (10).
  3. A box according to claim 2 characterised in that the edge recesses (10) are of a substantially semi-oval configuration and the closure portions (11) are provided with knurling at their outwardly facing side.
  4. A box according to one of claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the side portion (5) which is opposite to the hinge axis (9) has an edge strip portion (12) which is oriented in plane-parallel relationship with the closed cover portion (6) and which is provided with a tunnel (13) which extends perpendicularly to the edge strip portion and which at least at its side which is towards the hinge axis (9) has a partition wall (13.1) which is oriented perpendicularly to the edge strip portion (12) and which projects approximately as far as the base portion (3) and which is provided with a slot (14) which extends in the axial direction of the tunnel (13) and which is closed at the end and open towards the base portion, for insertion of the security member (7) which has a necked cross-sectional constriction (7.1) and which holds the cover portion (6) in its closed position.

A box according to claim 4 or claim 5 characterised in that formed between the partition wall (13.1) of the tunnel (13) and the free edge of the cover portion (6), which is remote from the hinge axis (9), is a security shaft (15) which extends parallel to the tunnel (13) and which accommodates the insertion portion (7.2) of the security member (7), which insertion portion adjoins the necked cross-sectional constriction (7.1) and is provided with a hook (7.3) for engaging behind a projection (6.1) on the cover portion (6).
  7. A box according to claim 6 characterised in that the security shaft (15) is of a rectangular cross-section, the projection (6,1) on the cover portion (6) projecting into the internal cross-sectional area of the security shaft (15).
  8. A box according to claim 6 or claim 7 characterised in that the security member (7) is of a spherical configuration on the side, which is opposite to the insertion portion (7.2), of the necked cross-sectional constriction (7.1).
  9. A box according to one of claims 4 to 8 characterised in that the edge strip portion (12) is additionally provided with an elongate opening (16) for receiving a suspension bracket of presentation shelf units.
  10. A box according to one of claims 1 to 9 having a receiving portion (17) for the objects, which receiving portion is mounted pivotably in the box bottom portion (2) and can be pivoted out of same, characterised in that provided between the box bottom portion (2) and the receiving portion (17) and/or the cover portion (6) are retaining members which form a retaining position for the receiving portion (17) in a pivotal position of about 45° and 90° relative to the box bottom portion (2) and correspondingly for the cover portion (8) in a pivotal position of 90° and 180°.
