It is also essential to the invention that the spring (5) is arranged in an elongated recess (33) in the base plate (31) of the pillow block (30) and acts directly on the second lever arm (43) of the swivelling part (40).

Description

The invention relates to a ski binding for a cross-country or touring ski with a holding shell, which is pivoted about a ski-fixed, horizontal transverse axis, both together with a swivel part designed as a two-armed angle lever, and also for the purpose of transition between the closed and open positions first lever arm of the pivoting part carries at least one locking pin, wherein in the closed position of the binding, which is fixed by a resilient bolt, the locking pin of the pivoting part engages in a release of the holding shell and the holding shell engages over a front sole extension of a ski boot, while the locking pin also has an opening interspersed in the sole extension from below, whereas in the open position of the binding the locking pin is removed from the inside of the holding shell, the joint pivoting of the holding shell and the pivoting part fastening about the bearing block fixed to the ski iges transverse axis is against an elastic element, the holding shell and the pivoting part are penetrated in their front area by the transverse axis and the pivoting part carries on its second lever arm an axis for the bolt which engages in the closed position of the binding on the holding shell , and wherein a spring holding shell and swivel part loaded in the sense of a spread apart.

Such a ski binding is described in WO 87/03211. In this known ski binding, the pivoting part is designed as an angle lever and, in the closed position of the binding, can be pivoted together with the holding shell against the force of an elastic element. Such a cross-country ski binding with the matching cross-country ski boot is also commercially available and has proven itself in practice.

In this known cross-country ski binding, the elastic element is arranged in front of the swivel part and is supported on an upward arm of the swivel part. The elastic Element itself is designed as a plastic block. In the unloaded position of the binding, this plastic block lies flat on the forward-facing side of the swivel part. During the walking movement, the swiveling part is swiveled upwards together with the holding shell, the elastic element being compressed. Due to the pivoting movement and the change in shape of the compressed elastic element, the point of application of the respective restoring force changes during the pivoting. In addition, the problem arises with plastic springs that the spring action is influenced, inter alia, by the outside temperature. Furthermore, plastic springs age relatively quickly under the influence of weather and sunlight and must then be replaced.

In EP-A2 0183000 it was proposed for a similar ski binding to use a helical compression spring as an elastic element, but this helical compression spring is also arranged in front of the pivoting part and is supported on its forward-facing side. Therefore, this known ski binding also gives rise to the problem of the not exactly defined point of application of the restoring force. Furthermore, the spring is exposed to the weather and in particular to pollution and icing.

The invention has set itself the task of avoiding the disadvantages of the known ski bindings and designing a ski binding of the type mentioned in such a way that the restoring force of the spring acts at a point selectable by the designer and also the spring characteristic can be designed optionally and from external influences, such as temperature , Weather and pollution is largely independent.

The set goal is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of claim 1. Because the second lever arm of the swivel part - viewed in the closed and unloaded position of the ski binding - runs downwards and forwards, it is possible to protect the elastic element in Ski binding housing below to arrange the swivel element. This also makes it possible to use a metal spring which engages at a point on the second lever arm of the pivoting part which is selectable by the designer.

The features of claim 2, according to which the spring is supported on one end on a support surface of the second lever arm of the pivoting part and on the other end on a rear boundary wall of the elongated recess, and according to which the second lever arm bears a projection for supporting and holding the spring, is a particularly advantageous embodiment the ski binding according to the invention.

Due to the design according to the characterizing part of claim 3, it is possible to optionally limit the pivoting range of the unit from the holding shell, pivoting part and latch, whereby overstressing of the spring is avoided with certainty.

Further advantages, features and details of the invention will now be described with reference to the drawing. 1 shows an embodiment of the cross-country ski binding according to the invention in longitudinal section, specifically in the position ready for entry, FIG. 2 shows the cross-country ski binding from FIG. 1 in the closed but unloaded position (sliding position) and FIG. 3 shows the cross-country ski binding in the walking position.

In the following description, the terms front, back, etc. are to be understood from the user's point of view; i.e. front means towards the ski tip.

A bearing block 30 is mounted on a ski 1 by means of indicated screws 2. It essentially consists of a base plate 31 and side walls 32. In the upper region of the side walls 32, recesses 35 are provided. The side walls 32 carry a transverse axis 3. A pivot part 40 is articulated on the transverse axis 3. The swivel part 40 is designed as an angle lever, the first lever arm 41 of which extends to the rear and carries an upwardly directed locking pin 42, while the second lever arm 43 is inclined facing forward and downward. The second lever arm 43 has on its downward and rearward side a support surface 44 and a projection 45 for a spring 5, which spring 5 is arranged in an elongated recess 33 of the base plate 31. In this exemplary embodiment, the spring 5 is designed as a helical compression spring and is supported on the one hand on the support surface 44 of the swivel part 40 and on the other hand on a rear boundary wall 34 of the elongated recess 33.

The transverse axis 3 also carries a holding shell 50 for receiving a cross-country ski boot 20. The holding shell 50 has an exemption 51 for the locking pin 42. Guide strips 53 adjoin the side walls 52 of the holding shell 50 at the top. In its front part, the side walls 52 of the holding shell 50 are connected by a crossbar 54. The transverse web 54 is designed at its front end as a latching lug 55, the first surface 56 of which extends approximately in the form of a cylinder jacket section about the transverse axis 3. This is followed by a second surface or holding surface 57, which is also designed as a cylinder jacket section and which extends approximately in the direction of the transverse axis 3.

An expansion spring 6 is arranged around the transverse axis 3 and acts on the swivel part 40 and the holding shell 50 in the sense of a spreading apart.

In the second lever arm 43 of the swivel part 40, a locking axis 7 extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski is arranged. The locking axis 7 carries a locking bar 60 with a latching area 61 and a recess 62. The recess 62 enables the tip of a ski pole to be inserted to open the ski binding arbitrarily. The locking area 61 is arranged along a cylindrical surface, the axis of which forms the locking axis 7. An exemption 63 extends below the latching area 61. In addition, the latch 60 has 64 projections 65 on its side walls. The projections 65 are arranged somewhat below the latching area 61. A locking spring 8 arranged around the locking axis 7 acts on the locking bar 60 in the closing direction.

The front area of the cross-country ski boot 20 with a sole 21 and a hooking element 22 can also be seen in FIG. This cross-country ski boot 20 is known, does not form the subject of this invention and is therefore not described in detail and is shown in broken lines in the drawing.

In dem gegenständlichen Ausführungsbeispiel ist dabei die maximale Schwenkbewegung durch das Zusammenwirken der Vorsprünge 65 mit den Ausnehmungen 35 begrenzt.1 shows the cross-country ski binding according to the invention in the ready-to-go state and with the cross-country ski boot 20 inserted. When the cross-country ski boot 20 is lowered, the holding shell 50 is pivoted downward against the force of the spreading spring 6, the locking pin 42 penetrating the clearance 51 of the holding shell 50 and projecting into the opening between the sole 21 and the hooking element 22. At the same time, the first surface 56 of the locking lug 55 slides out of the release 63 of the bolt and thus enables the locking spring 8 to pivot the bolt 60 in the closing direction until the locking region 61 of the bolt 60 comes into engagement with the holding surface 57 of the holding shell 50. This position is shown in Fig.2. As a result, the holding shell 50, the swivel part 40 and the bar 60 with the cross-country ski boot 20 now form a movement unit. During the walking movement (see FIG. 3), that is to say when the cross-country ski boot 20 is lifted off the ski 1, the holding shell 50, swivel part 40 and latch 60 are pivoted about the transverse axis 3, the spring 5 being compressed. In the present exemplary embodiment, the maximum pivoting movement is limited by the interaction of the projections 65 with the recesses 35.

The invention is of course not limited to the embodiment described and shown in the drawing. So it is conceivable, for example, the pivoting movement of the shell, pivoting part and Schuch limit the unit formed by selecting a coil spring with a correspondingly steep spring characteristic.
