Abstract

In a refuse bin with a refuse container (4) and a lid (5) for closing the refuse container (4), the said container (4) can be hinged on a side wall (9) of a cupboard (2) or the like so as to be capable of swivelling about an essentially vertical container swivel axis (6) and the lid (5) can be hinged on the side wall (9) so as to be capable of swivelling about an essentially horizontal lid swivel axis (12). In this arrangement, there is mounted at the front, in the region of the angle formed by the side wall (9) and the door (3) of the cupboard (2), a retaining bracket (7) which extends over only a small part of the depth of the lid (5), the lid swivel pin (12) is attached by only one end to the side wall (9), runs perpendicularly with respect to the side wall (9) and is guided in a recess (15) made in the lid (5) which likewise runs perpendicularly with respect to the side wall (9), and the rear part of the lid (5) swings downwards under the action of its own weight when the refuse container (4) is swung out. The opening characteristic of the bin can be optimised by mounting the lid swivel pin (12) by its end in the retaining bracket (7) and by arranging the recess (15) in the lid (5) in proximity to the front edge of the lid (5), preferably in the front third of the lid (5). <IMAGE>

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Abfallsammler mit den Merkmalen des Oberbegriffs von Anspruch 1.The invention relates to a waste collector with the features of the preamble of claim 1.

The invention is based on a waste collector in which the lid control is particularly simple in that the lid pivot axis extends at an acute angle to the side wall and is supported by its end in a holding bracket on the side wall (DE - C - 39 02 277). As a result, the holding bracket that is required anyway because of the vertical pivoting axis of the container can also be used at the front angle for the pivoting mounting of the lid. The opening movement of the lid under its own weight is quick and is achieved without additional aids.

Another known waste collector (US Pat. No. 3,788,720) has a lid pivot axis running perpendicular to the side wall of the cabinet, which has to be attached to the side wall with a special fitting. The holding bracket for the vertical container pivot axis on the side wall is separate from this.

In the known waste collector explained at the outset, the cover pivot axis is mounted at its fastening end in a bearing block which at the same time carries the manual pivot axis. This bearing block itself is detachably attached to the holding bracket and can be used to move from the left stop to the right stop opposite the holding bracket. This is somewhat complicated in terms of handling, and this construction is complex in terms of production.

The problem on which the teaching is based is therefore to optimize the known waste collector in terms of handling and production technology while maintaining an appropriate opening characteristic.

The problem outlined above is solved by the teaching of the invention in a waste collector with the features of the preamble of claim 1 by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1.

As in the state of the art discussed above, the lid pivot axis is also aligned perpendicular to the side wall of the cabinet in the waste collector claimed. Due to the further measures, it is nevertheless possible to store the cover pivot axis with its fastening end in the holding console. The arrangement of the lid pivot axis perpendicular to the side wall has the considerable advantage that a mounting bracket running parallel to the side wall for the hand pivot axis can be provided on the holding bracket itself. Because of its orientation parallel to the side wall, this bearing mount does not change its position when moving the holding bracket from the left-hand stop to the right-hand stop. Consequently, further relocation of any part need not take place. The additional bearing block of the prior art can be omitted. The swivel axis of the hand is formed by a pin which is mounted in the bearing socket and which, as is of course well known per se, will primarily be inserted axially into the bearing socket. It could of course also be inserted or snapped into an open bearing mount provided with snap-in formations. This pin passes through the bearing ring at the end of the cover pivot axis, since the alignment is precisely at right angles to each other.

The waste collector 1 shown in Fig. 1 is installed in a cabinet 2, which is closed by a door 3 pivotally hinged to the cabinet 2. The waste collector 1 has a waste container 4, which has a circular cylindrical shape in the illustrated embodiment. Strictly speaking, the waste container 4 is a circular cylindrical outer jacket into which an inner bucket (not shown) can be inserted from above. Other embodiments are conceivable here and are known in the prior art.

In addition to the waste container 4, the waste collector 1 also has a lid 5 which closes the waste container 4.

The waste container 4 is pivoted about an essentially vertical axis 6 of the container here on upper and lower holding brackets 7, 8 on a side wall 9 of the cabinet 2. In the exemplary embodiment shown here, the pivotable articulation is carried out on the holding brackets 7, 8 with the aid of laterally protruding upper and lower support brackets 10, 11. The waste container 4 can also be articulated directly on the holding brackets 7, 8, it can also be attached to an upper support bracket hung or on a lower Support bracket in the form of a plate. The vertical container pivot axis 6 is not physically present here, but is formed by two axially stub axles aligned with one another. This is also known in the prior art.

The cover 5 is pivoted about a substantially horizontal pivot axis 12 of the cover on the side wall 9 of the cabinet 2.

When the waste container 4 is pivoted out, the cover 5 pivots into the open position and when it is pivoted in, the cover 5 pivots back into the closed position. In the closed position, the lid 5 rests with its edge 13 projecting downward on the upper opening edge 14 of the waste container 4 and thus seals the waste container 4 so as to prevent odors.

The previously mentioned holding bracket 7 is in the front, formed by the side wall 9 and the door 3 of the cabinet 2. It extends only over part of the depth of the lid 5.

Fig. 1 shows in connection with Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 that the lid pivot axis 12 extends perpendicular to the side wall 9 and is guided in a likewise perpendicular to the side wall 9 receptacle 15 in the cover 5. The lid pivot axis 12 is arranged at the front near the door 3 in the cabinet 2, namely with its end mounted in the holding bracket 7. This is possible because the receptacle 15 in the cover 5 is arranged near the front edge of the cover 5, specifically here in the front third of the cover 5. The lid 5 is thus mounted very asymmetrically, the rear part of the lid 5 lying beyond the pivot pivot axis 12 is considerably heavier than the front part of the lid 5 lying on the lid pivot axis 12. When the waste container 4 is pivoted out, the rear part of the lid pivots Lid 5 quickly downwards, while when pivoting the waste container 4, the lid 5 is pressed upwards against its weight by the opening edge 14. The front part of the cover 5 performs a corresponding opening and closing movement.

In addition, it applies here that a stop 16 is provided on the holding bracket 7 for pivoting down the rear part of the cover 5. This stop 16 prevents the lid 5 from assuming a more or less vertical position when the waste container 4 is pivoted out, which would be unsuitable for closing when pivoting back again.

It can be seen particularly well in FIG. 4 how, through the arrangement of the cover pivot axis 12, a single holding bracket 7 is also sufficient for mounting the cover pivot axis 12. The lid control is therefore extremely simple and inexpensive to design.

Fig. 1 makes it clear that the opening movement of the lid 5 in this waste collector 1 is a tilting movement about the lid pivot axis 12 and that the lifting of the lid 5 in the rear part for closing the lid 5 is only caused by the opening edge 14 of the waste container 4. The downwardly projecting edge 13 of the cover 5 slides on the opening edge 14 of the waste container 4, which runs underneath it when it is pivoted in. Of course, it is possible to provide the surfaces that come into contact with one another with a corresponding lubrication, that is to say to provide them with a suitable coating or from correspondingly lubricious material to manufacture.

For aesthetic reasons, it is advisable to arrange the receptacle 15 for the cover pivot axis 12 on the underside of the cover 5. The lid pivot axis 12 can be plugged in, clamped, locked in place or otherwise firmly connected to the lid 5. A snap-out receptacle 15, which is not shown here, allows the lid 5 to be snapped out in an emergency, for example if the waste container 4 is too full when it is closed. There are also other ways to solve this question, which are explained below.

It is known per se from the prior art that the cover 5 is designed approximately like a closed U in plan view. This shape of the lid is now particularly recommended for the present design of a waste collector 1, since it offers the ideal conditions for the possibility of both a left-hinged as well as a right-hinged hinging of the lid 5. It is recommended in this context, but also generally, that the cover 5 is designed symmetrically to its center line running perpendicular to the side wall 9 and has a receptacle 15 on each side of the center line. In Fig. 1 of the drawing, only the receptacle 15 corresponding to the left-hand stop is shown in dashed form, dashed because it is regularly located under the cover 5. 2 and 3, on the other hand, show the solution actually implemented in practice with two receptacles 15 arranged symmetrically with respect to the center line, which allow one and the same cover 5 to be used either left-handed or right-handed.

The shape of the cover 5 as a closed U with the essentially straight edge facing the side wall 9 favors the arrangement of the receptacles 15 and leads to an appealing exterior with clear, well-structured lines.

The figures also show a particularly preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention in that the lid pivot axis 12 can be detached from the holding bracket 7 and can be attached to the holding bracket 7 in two positions corresponding to a left stop or a right stop of the lid 5.

It was previously explained that it would be advantageous for the cover pivot axis 12 to be able to be disengaged in the receptacle 15 for overfilling the waste container 4. An alternative solution for this case, which at the same time also enables the waste container 4 to be opened manually at any time, is characterized in that the cover pivot axis 12 with the cover 5 attached to it is again pivotable overall about a further horizontal manual pivot axis 17 with respect to the holding console 7. In addition to the cover pivot axis 12 normally used in operation, a further hand pivot axis 17 is used, which is only used in an emergency or for filling by hand, but which enables the cover 5 to be pivoted with the full area.

Fig. 4 macht die zuvor erläuterte Konstruktion besonders deutlich. The hand pivot axis 17 runs parallel to the side wall 9 and thus at a right angle to the cover pivot axis 12. In the exemplary embodiment shown here, the end of the cover pivot axis 12 is firmly attached to the hand pivot axis 17 or to a bearing ring 19 comprising the hand pivot axis 17. The lid pivot axis 12 thus practically ends in the bearing ring 19, the opening of which extends essentially transversely to the longitudinal axis of the lid pivot axis 12. This bearing ring 19, correspondingly wide, is mounted on the hand pivot axis 17. This construction is very compact and integrates the hand swivel axis 17 into the overall arrangement in a very inconspicuous manner. 4 makes the construction explained above particularly clear.

In terms of construction, the holding bracket 7 can be designed in a particularly simple manner by designing on its upper side a bearing mount 20 which runs parallel to the side wall 9 for a pin which forms the pivot axis 17. This pin can be designed as a plastic expansion pin, the bearing socket 20 can be made relatively long and solid, so that the pin, which forms the pivot axis 17, is particularly well guided. The end of the pin then forms the pivot bearing for the cover pivot axis 12 or its end designed as a bearing ring 19.

At the beginning it was explained that it is of course particularly expedient if a stop 16 is provided on the holding console 7 for the rear part of the cover 5 to be pivoted down. This stop 16 is formed on the bearing ring 19 in the exemplary embodiment shown here. 2 and 3 in particular, a counter-stop 21 corresponding to the stop 16 is arranged on the cover 5. With this construction, a particularly simple solution that is easy to implement in terms of production technology has been found. It can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3 that the counter stop 21 is merely a web on each side which is tipped on the plastic material of the cover 5. Together with the rectangular contour of the bearing ring 19 results from the course of the counter-stop 21 the tilting movement for the cover 5 automatically. The side or side surface of the bearing ring 19 thus forms the stop 16 which is assigned to the holding bracket 7.

Fig. 3 finally shows yet another special feature of the illustrated embodiment, namely that on the edge 22 of the cover 5 facing the side wall 9 when the cover 5 is mounted, a bevel 23 sloping toward the rear part or towards the center of the cover 5 is formed below the receptacle 15 is. When the cover 5 tilts, the run-on slope 23 is supported on the upper edge of the holding bracket 7 clearly shown in FIG. 4. Because of the inclined course of the chamfer 23, the high weight of the rear part of the cover 5 leads to the front part of the cover 5 being raised disproportionately. Indeed, in a kind of leverage, the weight of the cover 5 slightly raises or swings the cover pivot axis 12. This effect is particularly expedient, since the front edge of the cover 5 is thus considerably higher than without the run-up slope 23 in the open position, practically without a substantial increase in the inclination of the cover 5. The opening stroke effective at the front edge of the cover 5 is therefore disproportionately large.
