Abstract

A plastic toy building kit is composed of two or more components which can be easily clamped together. The bulk density and strain hardness of the plastic from which the components are made are of decisive importance.

Description

BAUKASTENSPIEL MODULE GAME
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Baukastenspiel gemäss Oberbegriff k des Patentanspruches 1.The present invention relates to a modular game according to the preamble k of claim 1.
Various plug-in modular games are known. One of the best known is probably the LEGO modular game, with which the most varied objects can be produced, but which consists of hard plastic components, which consist of bodies in the form of a box open at the bottom, with knobs on the top are brought. The knobs are intended to enter into a clamping connection with the inner side surfaces on the underside of the box of other components which have at least one resilient wall in their interior and this resilient wall. When plugging together, the knobs must be brought exactly over the depressions and the two contact surfaces aligned at least approximately in parallel. This requires a certain skill and strength, which small children generally do not achieve. In addition, the components are small, and for this reason alone it is not easy to bring them into the desired position and also to hold them in this position. Furthermore, the clamp connections are limited to the areas provided. Another problem is the hardness of the plastic, because of which a risk of injury cannot be ruled out, because the edges and corners of the components are sharp. Stepping on or falling onto such components can lead to injuries.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide components for small children which are made of the most hygienic and durable material possible and in which the risk of injury is excluded.

This object is achieved by the invention as it is characteristic
Part of claim 1 is disclosed, solved. Preferred embodiments result from the subclaims. The invention is explained in more detail below using a drawing as an example. The figure shows various elements E1 to E4 clamped together. The elements E1, E2 and E3 all have at least one slot-shaped recess. The element E3 has an unused recess, which is designated by the transfer number A. Such a recess serves for clamping the element E2 in the case of E1 and for clamping the element E2 in the case of the element E3, which has two recesses. The cuboid element E4 has no cutouts, but can be clamped by other elements - element E2 in the exemplary embodiment of the figure.
In the exemplary embodiment, the recess has a rectangular shape. However, this does not have to be the case. If the edges of the elements E1 to E4 are rounded, for example, the recess A can have a correspondingly rounded shape. The recess can taper slightly to increase the clamping strength. Various shapes of the components are shown in the figure. El has a triangular shape, E2 the shape of a circular disk and E3 the shape of a square plate, whereas E4 has the shape of a cuboid.
However, the shapes shown are only an indication of the possible variety of shapes. Human or animal-like components can also be formed, for example a head which can be plugged onto differently clad hull shapes. Components for the manufacture of ships, railways and any other objects can also be manufactured. There are no limits to your imagination. The wealth of shapes can be supplemented by the choice of different colors, or individual components can be painted figuratively, so that the invention can be used to design a very attractive and versatile toy.
The components are molded from plastic. So that they are easy to grasp, they should have a certain size. On the other hand, since they should also be used for small children, they should be as light as possible. The desired combination of these demands on the material limit the density. It has been shown that plastics with densities of a minimum of 25 kg / m3 and a maximum of 50 kg / m3 are suitable for the purpose according to the invention. In a preferred one In the embodiment, the limits are between 30 to 38 kg / m3, and particularly preferably about 33 kg / m3.
Another important material property is the compression hardness of the plastic according to the invention. The compression hardness is determined according to the ASTM-D 1056 standard and is in itself a measure of the durability of a plastic. 1 cm2 of the plastic is e.g. 40 kPa weight until the maximum indentation depth is reached. If the plastic has then returned to its original shape after 24 hours, the compression hardness of 40 kPa is assigned to this plastic. The compression hardness according to the invention should not be too low so that a good clamping effect can be achieved. On the other hand, it should not be too large so that a clamping process can be carried out easily even by small children. Tests have shown that the compression hardness must be between 30 and 50 kPa for these purposes. A range between 35 and 45 kPa has proven to be particularly favorable and a compression hardness of 40 kPa is particularly preferred.
The plastic should retain its properties at different temperatures and be resistant to aging, temperature and weather. Preferred are plastics with an approximately constant compression hardness at temperatures below zero, e.g. -20 degrees, up to + 90 degrees C. For hygienic reasons, it is also desirable that the plastic absorbs only minimal amounts of water up to a maximum of 2% of its weight. For the same reasons, the plastic preferably has antistatic properties, because many plastics tend to become statically charged when rubbed with other materials and magnetically attract the dust.
A material with these properties is primarily a polyethylene or flexible polyurethane foam. Cross-linked high-pressure polyethylene (DIN-ISO 1629) and in particular closed-cell, soft-elastic polyethylene have proven to be a particularly favorable material basis.
