Description

The present invention relates to a packaging device for a group of objects, such as containers, in particular but not exclusively glass yoghurt pots.

The techniques currently used for the manufacture of yoghurts include, after filling the containers such as glass jars with milk, ferments and other basic raw materials, the packaging of the containers in a cardboard packaging which keeps them all assembled throughout the manufacturing cycle, which includes heating in an oven followed by cooling in a cold room, this same cardboard packaging used for presentation for sale and for transport by the consumer from the place of sale to his table.

In certain known packages, obtained by folding and gluing pre-cut cardboard blanks, the pots are kept tight against one another in order to prevent them from breaking or cracking by hitting each other. This tightening which prevents the cooling air from circulating in a homogeneous way around the pots during the passage in cold room, -where the pots are grouped in palletized sets of very large volume compared to that of an individual pot-, causes manufacturing difficulties, in particular as regards the duration of the passage of the pallets of yogurt pots through the cold room into which said pots are brought after maturation.

In other known packages, for example by EP-A-0 277 030, plastic containers of consecutive rows touch each other by their lid so that the device is not suitable for packaging glass jars, whereas the packages described in US-A-3 498 449 do not allow to accommodate pots whose dimensions are defined with a certain tolerance, which can reach 1.5 mm for yogurt pots in glass with a diameter of 50 mm, on the one hand, and on the other hand, do not lend themselves to seizure without special precautions by the consumer.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a packaging device for a group of objects which maintains said assembled objects without contact with each other, while avoiding that they risk colliding and, by do not break when these objects are glass jars.

It is also an object of the invention to provide such packaging which makes it possible to overcome, without difficulty, the differences in dimensions presented by the objects to be packaged and which can be significant in the case of glass jars.

It is, again, an object of the invention to provide such packaging which allows the safe handling of the group of packaged objects, in particular in the case of glass jars, by eliminating the danger of seeing one or more jars. escape from the packaging when picked up by a user or consumer.

It is, finally, an object of the invention to provide such packaging which is simple and quick to manufacture and use and therefore low cost.

  • une partie supérieure ;
  • un fond sur lequel est érigée une poutre séparant les conteneurs et qui présente une face frontale parallèle au fond, deux joues sensiblement perpendiculaires au fond et des paires de languettes s'étendant sensiblement parallèlement dans le plan du fond et entre lesdites joues, avec des vides ménagés dans ces dernières et dans la face frontale à sa jonction avec les joues ;
To solve the problems posed, the invention provides a packaging device for a group of substantially identical objects arranged in several rows, said packaging comprising:
  • an upper part;
  • a bottom on which is erected a beam separating the containers and which has a front face parallel to the bottom, two cheeks substantially perpendicular to the bottom and pairs of tongues extending substantially parallel in the plane of the bottom and between said cheeks, with voids formed in the latter and in the front face at its junction with the cheeks;
  • two lateral faces connecting the upper part and the bottom to give the device produced from a blank of cardboard or similar material a form of tubular case, said device being characterized in that it comprises flaps from the cheeks and articulated along the edges of the voids of the latter.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the length of the flaps is greater than the height of the cheeks.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the upper part of the device comprises two superimposed panels overlapping substantially over the greater part of their surfaces, secured to each other by gluing, the panel of this upper part which found in contact with the objects to be packaged being provided with tabs oriented towards the bottom, perpendicular to the surface of the panel, and shaped so as to snap under the upper edges of the objects to be packaged.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the lateral faces of the device are each formed of two panels forming an obtuse angle between them.

The subject of the invention is also a substantially rectangular blank, made of cardboard or other similar material capable of being folded and capable of withstanding the processing conditions to which the objects to be packaged must be subjected, said blank comprising two first pairs of fold lines. transverse defining the bottom, the lateral faces and the top of the package, first recesses at said first fold lines, two second pairs of transverse fold lines for the formation of a beam on the bottom of the package, cutouts between the second pairs of fold lines defining pairs of tongues and second recesses of the beam, said blank being characterized in that it is cut between the second pairs of fold lines along pairs of flaps articulated on longitudinal crease lines formed on either side of said tongues.

According to another characteristic of the invention, said blank is also perforated between the tongues and the second recesses arranged on the fold lines defining the front face of the beam.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the two fold lines defining the top of the device are placed at such distances from the ends of the blank that after forming the beam, and from the lateral faces, these end parts, of the blank overlap each other substantially over the entire width of the packaging device.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the blank comprises between one of its longitudinal ends and the fold line closest to the latter profiled cutouts limiting tabs put in place by folding down around short directed grooving segments substantially perpendicular to the fold lines.

The invention will be better understood from the following description, made with reference to the appended drawing in which:
  • Figure 1 is a plan view of a packaging blank according to the invention;
  • Figures 2 and 3 are perspective views of the blank of Figure 1 during folding;

A device according to the invention for packaging a group of objects, for example and without any limiting nature being attached to this indication of glass yoghurt pots grouped in two rows of at least two pots each- is shown in Figure 4 where it is designated by the reference EM. For the production of such a device (of which only the two pots P1, P2 of a pair are visible in FIG. 4) the invention proposes a blank 100, FIG. 1, in the case of two pairs of pots or a blank 101 illustrated partially in plan in Figure 6 in the case of eight pots and not more than four. Such a packaging device, the general structure of which is that of a tubular case enclosing the objects to be packaged, thus comprises a bottom 1, an upper part or cover 2, and lateral faces 3 and 4 limited by the longitudinal edges 100 a , 100 b , the transverse edges 100 c , 100 d of the blank 100, firstly, and of the lines which will be explained below, secondly.

First recesses 5 and 6, clearly visible in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 6, are formed at the level of the fold lines A, B, C, D, between the bottom and the two lateral faces on the one hand, and the cover and said side faces on the other hand.

In the embodiment described and shown, the bottom 1 of the assembled device comprises two flat panels 1A, 1B of generally rectangular shape, provided with tongues a , b , respectively, the two tongues a of the panel 1A being glued with the tongues b , from panel 1B. In the assembled condition of the device, also, a beam 9 is erected in the middle part of the bottom 1, projecting from the plane of the panels 1A, 1B, in the direction of the cover 2; the general parallelepiped beam thus consists of a front face 10 parallel to the cover 2 and to the panels 1A, 1B at the bottom and two cheeks 11, 12 substantially perpendicular to the front face 10. The latter has, on its two large edges formed by fold lines H and G, respectively, curved notches 13 in number corresponding to that of the objects to be packaged. The cheeks 11 and 12, which are also limited by the fold lines H and G, on the one hand, and by parallel fold lines K and L, on the other hand, consist of discontinuous parts 14, 15, 16 separated by the voids 19, FIG. 2, left by the tabs a , b when the blank is folded around the fold lines H, G, K, L, folding which leaves the tabs in the initial plane of the blank which forms the bottom a , b which are then brought into partial superposition, as shown in FIG. 4 then glued or otherwise joined together to establish the beam 9 and the bottom 1.

The latter is thus in one piece with the beam 9 which behaves like an element ensuring a double function: stiffening of the bottom and keeping the pots P spaced apart from one another transversely in order to ensure good circulation of the filling air the cold room when the yoghurt pots and their packaging are brought there after maturation.

Between their parts 14, 15 and 15, 16, each of the cheeks 11, 12 of the beam 9 has two pairs of flaps 31, 32, and 31 ', 32', respectively, symmetrical with respect to their common edge 109, 109 ' , the flaps 32 being articulated over the entire height of edges or creasing lines 110, 110 'of the part 15 and the flaps 31, 31' over the entire height of the edges or internal creasing lines 111, 111 'of the parts 14 and 16. The two flaps of each pair are further limited by a curved edge 18 and a curved edge 21 which is extended by a segment 20 which constitutes one of the edges of the tabs a and b and is parallel to the hinge edges 110, 110 'and 111, 111' of the flaps; in the initial condition of the blank, flat, the latter thus has openings 7 prevailing between the free end edges of the tongues a and b while between the notches 13 and the edges 18 are provided with second recesses, 8, substantially crescent-shaped. Each flap, which is thus somewhat forme-shaped, is also limited by a short dimension edge, 35, orthogonal to edge 20 and which, in the initial condition of the blank, is in alignment with lines K and L.

The upper part 2 of the device according to the invention consists of two flat panels 22, 23 folded down during the manufacture of the device around the creasing lines C and D, respectively, the panels then being glued to each other. The panel 22, inside the packaging device, is slightly shorter than the outer panel 23 and is provided with two profiled cutouts somewhat in the shape of a "hammer" which define two tabs 41, 42 when the material of the blank limited by these blanks is pressed inwardly of the packaging device by folding around segments short crease 41 a and 42 a, respectively. In the condition of assembly, the cleats 41 and 42 are substantially vertical, oriented towards the beam 9 and profiled so as to snap under the necks 60 of the pots P. These cleats contribute to maintaining the pots P by their upper parts, the holding pots P in the lower part being ensured by the recesses 6 as well as by the beam in which the pairs of articulated flaps 31, 32, 31 ', 32' make it possible to absorb the dimensional variations from one pot to another without that the maintenance of the pots is affected. These flaps have a length (measured between their edge 35 and the point furthest from their edge 18) which is greater than the distance separating the fold lines L and H or G and K, that is to say at the height of the cheeks 11 and 12 when the beam is erected; in the mounted condition of the packaging device, they partially fill the voids 19 left free by the tabs a and b and thus act on the one hand in the manner of "shock absorbers" and, on the other hand, contribute to rigidity of the beam 9 by forming bracing "ribs".

The lateral faces 3 and 4 of the packaging device are each formed by two contiguous panels, respectively a short panel 71 and a long panel 81, adjacent to the bottom panel 1A and a short panel 72 and a long panel 82, adjacent to the panel 1B, said panels being joined together, to panels 1A and 1B as well as to panels 22 and 23 of the cover by the creasing lines E, B, F, A, and D, C, respectively, by which the packaging is adapted to the shape of the pots P₁, P₂ to be packaged.

The device according to the invention ensures good maintenance of the glass jars P, the dimensions of which can vary to a relatively large extent, of the order of 1 to 2 mm relative to the maximum diameter of the order of 50 mm, while allowing good circulation of cooling air. The absence of discontinuity in its lid eliminating any risk of breakage when the "pack" is gripped by said lid and the good lateral support of the jars also makes it an excellent packaging for presentation for sale and manual transport of yoghurts by the consumer .

The packaging device illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5 is produced from a cardboard blank 100 provided with voids, openings, recesses, cutouts and fold lines as illustrated in FIGS. 1 , 2 and 3 where we have shaded all the openings and recesses 5, 6, 7 and 8, to better distinguish them from the cut but not hollowed out parts used for the formation of the cleats and flaps. In these figures the lines and segments folding or creasing are conventionally shown in dotted lines to better distinguish them from the cutting lines.

Enfin, la partie 23, préencollée, est rabattue autour de la ligne de rainage D sur la partie 22.To use the packaging blank according to the invention, the beam 9 is first formed, as shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 2 and 3, then the pots P are put in place and the faces 3 and 4 of the device formed by folding around the lines A, B, E and F. The first part 22 of the cover is then formed by folding around the line C and the tabs 41, 42 are put in place by folding inwards around creasing segments 41 a , 42 a formed at their feet. Finally, the pre-glued part 23 is folded down around the crease line D on the part 22.

Figure 6 is a partial view of a blank according to the invention suitable for packaging not more than four but eight pots. This blank 101 differs from that of FIGS. 1, 2, 3 only by the fact that it combines in a single blank two blanks such as that described above, only a part, corresponding to the lower part of the cover is illustrated here, with the same references as those of the previous production marked with the index "'". It is thus possible by repeating several times the cuts, recesses, lines and folding segments to make blanks for the packaging of twelve or sixteen jars according to the wishes of the practice.
