Definitions
- the invention relates to a cinch (RCA) connector with a clamping device, consisting of a connector body and a cover sleeve which can be screwed on in the axial direction and surround the connector body, the connector body having a contact pin on its contact side and an outer ring contact surrounding the contact pin and conical on the outside thereof. which is divided by axially extending slots and can be radially compressed by means of the cover sleeve during its axial movement.
- a cinch (RCA) connector is known for example from WO-A-86 03 895.
- the radially directed clamping forces generated by the clamping device of such cinch (RCA) plugs bring about a particularly firm and looseness-free hold of the outer ring contact on the outer ring contact of the associated socket.
- a disadvantage of the known cinch (RCA) connector with a clamping device is that when the clamping force is generated, a strong friction against the rotational movement of the cover sleeve occurs between the outside of the outer ring contact and the cover sleeve. This friction causes scoring or other damage to form on the outside of the outer ring cone from the z. B. can lead to a detachment of the contact gold plating. Furthermore, the friction hinders the rotational movement of the outer sleeve and thus impairs the tensioning and loosening process.
- a clamping device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that scoring or comparable damage to the outside of the clamping ring contact is avoided and the tensioning and loosening process is facilitated.
- the invention proposes, starting from the cinch (RCA) connector of the type mentioned, that the cover sleeve is provided on the contact side with a ring element which is rotatably mounted on the sleeve body of the cover sleeve and with its inside on the conical outside of the outer ring contact is present.
- An expedient development of the invention provides that a tubular section adjoins the ring element, which extends beyond the bearing point into the cover sleeve and approximately to the bearing point one or more slots extending in the axial direction is provided. Through this tubular section, the ring element is guided exactly on the cover sleeve.
- the slots running in the axial direction on the tubular sections enable the ring element to be easily and simply installed in the associated receiving opening of the cover sleeve.
- cover sleeve and the ring element are also expediently provided on the outside with an insulating coating, in particular an insulating anodized layer. This insulation avoids undesirable side effects that can occur particularly when cinch (RCA) plugs are arranged close together.
- the cinch (RCA) connector shown in the drawing has a connector body 1 onto which a cover sleeve 2 can be screwed.
- This cover sleeve 2 is composed of a sleeve body 3 and a ring element 4 which is rotatably connected to the sleeve body 3 at a bearing 5.
- a tubular section 6 adjoins the ring element 4 and projects beyond the bearing point 5 into the sleeve body 3.
- the tubular section 6 is provided with one or more slots 7 (shown in FIG. 2) extending in the axial direction. These slots 7 serve to enable the ring element 4 with its tubular section 6 to be easily inserted into the sleeve body 3 for the purpose of assembly.
- the tubular sections 6 give the ring element 4 a secure and stable guidance in the sleeve body 3 during tensioning and loosening.
- the plug body 1 On the contact side, the plug body 1 is provided with a center contact pin 8 and an outer ring contact 9 surrounding it in a ring shape. Outwardly, the entire plug body 1 is covered by the cover sleeve 2 over its entire length.
- the sleeve body 3 of the cover sleeve 2 is provided on the cable connection side with a metallic internal thread 10, which is screwed onto a corresponding metallic external thread 11 of the connector body 1.
- This metallic external thread 11 is connected via a bridge 12 to the connection 13 for a shielding conductor 14 of a coaxial cable 15 in an electrically conductive manner.
- the coaxial cable 15 is held firmly in the connector body 1 by means of a clamping screw 16, which is shown in broken lines in the drawing.
- Another connection 17 of the coaxial cable 15 is in electrical connection with the contact pin 8.
- the outer ring contact 9 has one or more longitudinal slots 18 extending in the axial direction, so that the parts of the outer ring contact 9 formed thereby are resilient and can be pressed radially inwards.
- the outer side 19 of the outer ring contact 9 is conical and tapers towards the front towards the contact side.
- the front end the ring element 4 is tapered inwards in such a way that it lies against the conical outside 19 of the outer ring contact 9 from the outside.
- the parts of the outer ring contact 9 formed by the longitudinal slots 18 are pressed radially inward due to the taper of the outer side 19 when the sleeve body 3 is actually displaced axially towards the plug body 1 in the direction of the cable connection side.
- the ring element 4 is drawn accordingly in the axial direction onto the outside 19 of the outer ring contact 9 without twisting itself.
- the metallic cover sleeve 2 consisting of the sleeve body 3 and the ring element 4, provides a metallic contact between the outer ring contact 9 and the terminal 17 of the shielding conductor 14 of the connected coaxial cable 15 and shields the entire interior of the plug against external influences.
- the outer ring contact 9 is first pushed over the corresponding counterpart of the connection socket, the contact pin 8 simultaneously making the intended electrical contact. Then, by rotating the sleeve body 3, the outer ring contact 9 is radially compressed by the non-rotating ring element 4, so that the outer ring contact 9 is clamped to the corresponding counterpart of the connecting socket.
- the cover sleeve 2 which is composed of the sleeve body 3 and the ring element 4, can be externally coated with an insulating coating, for example an insulating one Anodized layer can be coated. This insulation prevents electrical contact between the cover sleeves 2 of cinch (RCA) plugs arranged close to one another according to the invention.
- an insulating coating for example an insulating one Anodized layer can be coated.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cinch (RCA) connector with a clamping device, consisting of a connector body and a cover sleeve which can be screwed on in the axial direction and surround the connector body, the connector body having a contact pin on its contact side and an outer ring contact surrounding the contact pin and conical on the outside thereof. which is divided by axially extending slots and can be radially compressed by means of the cover sleeve during its axial movement. Such a cinch (RCA) connector is known for example from WO-A-86 03 895. The radially directed clamping forces generated by the clamping device of such cinch (RCA) plugs bring about a particularly firm and looseness-free hold of the outer ring contact on the outer ring contact of the associated socket.
A disadvantage of the known cinch (RCA) connector with a clamping device is that when the clamping force is generated, a strong friction against the rotational movement of the cover sleeve occurs between the outside of the outer ring contact and the cover sleeve. This friction causes scoring or other damage to form on the outside of the outer ring cone from the z. B. can lead to a detachment of the contact gold plating. Furthermore, the friction hinders the rotational movement of the outer sleeve and thus impairs the tensioning and loosening process.
It is therefore an object of the invention to further develop the cinch (RCA) connector with a clamping device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that scoring or comparable damage to the outside of the clamping ring contact is avoided and the tensioning and loosening process is facilitated.
To achieve this object, the invention proposes, starting from the cinch (RCA) connector of the type mentioned, that the cover sleeve is provided on the contact side with a ring element which is rotatably mounted on the sleeve body of the cover sleeve and with its inside on the conical outside of the outer ring contact is present.
Due to the ring element rotatably mounted about the screw axis of the cover sleeve, the friction that hinders the screwing process is considerably reduced in the circumferential direction, so that the clamping and loosening process is correspondingly facilitated. Since there is no longer any relative displacement in the circumferential direction between the fixed outer ring contact and the ring element during the tensioning process, scoring and other damage to the outer ring contact are largely avoided.
An expedient development of the invention provides that a tubular section adjoins the ring element, which extends beyond the bearing point into the cover sleeve and approximately to the bearing point one or more slots extending in the axial direction is provided. Through this tubular section, the ring element is guided exactly on the cover sleeve. The slots running in the axial direction on the tubular sections enable the ring element to be easily and simply installed in the associated receiving opening of the cover sleeve.
The cover sleeve and the ring element are also expediently provided on the outside with an insulating coating, in particular an insulating anodized layer. This insulation avoids undesirable side effects that can occur particularly when cinch (RCA) plugs are arranged close together.

The cinch (RCA) connector shown in the drawing has a connector body 1 onto which a
Ein weiterer Anschluß 17 des Koaxialkabels 15 steht in elektrischer Verbindung mit dem Kontaktstift 8.On the contact side, the plug body 1 is provided with a
To plug the RCA (RCA) connector onto a socket (not shown in the drawing), the
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the
