Hohlsauger werden vorzugsweise in Trockenstrecken eingesetzt, in denen die frisch auf einem Schichtträger aufgetragene Schicht oder Schichten nicht die Oberfläche der Führungswalzen berühren dürfen. Der Krümmungsradius der Sicke in der Bahn oder der Bahnschleife hängt von der Druckdifferenz der Bahnspannung ab. Unabhängig von der Bahnführung durch den Trockner stellt die gesickte Bahnform für jede Walze den für einen guten Bahnlauf ausreichend großen Umschlingungswinkel sicher. Eine weitere Aufgabe bestand darin, die Vorrichtung in einer Trockenstrecke von begrenzter Länge in möglichst geringer Anzahl auch bei hoher Bahngeschwindigkeit zu installieren. Wie aus der Figur 1 a zu ersehen, läuft eine beschichtete Materialbahn (1) in Pfeilrichtung mit der beschichteten Seite oben und der Trägerseite unten über das Walzenpaar (2, 3), welche zusammen mit dem Saugkasten (11) und dem Saugstutzen (4) einen aus dem Stand der Technik bekannten Zwei-Walzenhohlsauger darstellen. Die Walzen (2, 3) sind mit Lagerzapfen (9) in den Seitenstücken des Saugkastens (11) gelagert. Die den Walzen (2, 3) zugekehrten Flächen des Dichtkeils (6) sind der zylindrischen Außenfläche der Walzen nachgebildet und befinden sich in einem sehr geringen Abstand von diesen, um möglichst wenig Falschluft anzusaugen. Die der Unterseite der Materialbahn zugekehrte Fläche des Dichtkeils (6) verläuft, wie aus Figur 1b hervorgeht, im wesentlichen parallel zur Bahn, kann aber auch nach innen abgeschrägt verlaufen. Die Druckdifferenz zwischen Ober- und Unterseite der gekrümmten Bahn (5) wird so eingestellt, daß die Bahn gerade über dem Dichtkeil schwebt. Die wannenförmige Ausführung des Dichtkeils, der zur Bahnmitte in der Form eines Anlaufkeils schräg abfällt, wie aus Figur 2b zu erkennen, hat als Vorteil, daß auch bei seitlichem Verlaufen der Bahn, also senkrecht zur Laufrichtung, doch stets die Bahn über dem Dichtkeil beabstandet ist beziehungsweise schwebt. The three pairs of rollers of the hollow suction devices had a radial distance of 10 mm, a sealing wedge, consisting of anodized aluminum as shown in FIGS Rolls in and with a length of 75 mm. The side sealing strips (13, 14) of the suction box (11) were each less than 0.5 mm from the roller surfaces. The bevel angle α of the sealing wedge was 3 °. With a pressure difference of 4 to 10 mbar between the top and bottom of the material web and with a web tension of 8 to 14 kp, stable control of the material web could be achieved without damage being observed.
