Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a household tumble dryer with a laundry drum driven by a motor and a device arranged outside the laundry drum in the drying air stream for heating the drying air conveyed through the laundry drum by means of a blower.
A tumble dryer of this type is known from DE-A-33 40 313. In this tumble dryer, the device for heating the drying air to be conveyed through the laundry drum consists of an electric panel heater.
Based on this prior art, the invention has for its object to develop a tumble dryer of the type in question so that primarily primary energy can be saved. Furthermore, its use value should be increased.
The solution to this problem according to the invention is that the clothes dryer is provided with a connection for the hot water network of a household and that the device for heating the drying air consists of a heat exchanger connected to the hot water network.
The invention provides a clothes dryer which is characterized by a lower consumption of primary energy and is therefore particularly environmentally friendly.
The domestic hot water network for supplying the heat exchanger with hot water can be the household heating circuit, the domestic hot water line or the district heating network. In addition to the heat exchanger fed by the hot water network for heating the drying air, an electric heating element can also be arranged in the drying air circuit. If there is no hot water available for the heat exchanger, the electric heating element alone is switched on to warm up the drying air flow. If the available hot water is not sufficient for the heat exchanger to work satisfactorily, the electrical heating element can e.g. can be switched on with reduced heating output. This means that both the hot water-fed heat exchanger and the electric heating element are both put into operation together.
The heat exchanger can be connected to the hot water network via an inlet and an outlet line. The connecting lines can be flexible lines. The connection to the hot water network can be made via separable coupling pieces. Various control elements are expediently assigned to the inlet and / or outlet line for the heat exchanger. Such regulating or control elements have the task of interrupting the hot water flow to the heat exchanger when, for example, the laundry drying process has ended, and of regulating the water flow in such a way that certain drying temperatures are reached or not exceeded. Furthermore, such regulating or control elements are intended to ensure that the drying process is terminated if drying temperatures which are too high occur or if there is no longer sufficient warm water available. The flow of water through the heat exchanger should also be regulated accordingly. By interposing a feed pump in the hot water circuit hot water network and heat exchanger, a sufficient flow of hot water through the heat exchanger is guaranteed. It is expedient to design the heat exchanger as an independent assembly or structural unit, so that such a problem-free existing dryer of a conventional type with an electrical Heating element in the drying air flow can be attached as an additional device.
The hot water conveyed by the heat exchanger is returned to the hot water network after leaving the heat exchanger.
