Abstract

A sectional door possesses door sections (10, 11) which are continuous over the width of the door aperture and each extend over only a fraction of the height of the door aperture and which are connected to the adjacent door sections via hinges (12) and are guided by means of running rollers (13) or sliding pieces in guide rails (4 - 8) which have longitudinal legs (4), extending next to the side edges of the door aperture, and legs (6, 9) which adjoin said longitudinal legs by means of arcuate transition pieces (5, 8) and which extend above the upper edge of the door aperture into the room interior. In order by simple means to make it possible, without a loss of safety, to ventilate the room closed off by the door, there are provided for the upper running rollers (13) of the uppermost door section (10), above the arcuate transition pieces of the guide rails (4-6), separate guide-rail portions (7) which guide the uppermost door section into and out of the closed position and of which the end pieces (8) located at the side of the door aperture form switches (8, 15) which, with the door remaining closed, can be swung down into a position guiding the uppermost door section (11) on its guide rollers into a ventilation position. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a sectional door according to the preamble of claim 1.

A sectional door of this type is known from US-A 2 327 778. Sectional doors have a wide range of applications from normal garage doors to large hall doors for trade and industry. It is possible to balance the weight of the gate wing at least in part by springs or weights, in particular by springs acting on cables at the lowest gate field, and also to provide simple drives that either also act on the lowest gate field or the axes of its rollers via similar cables or are designed as push rod drives and / or chain drives that act on the top gate field. In addition to manual drives, motor drives and even drives equipped with remote control devices can be used. The hinges for connecting the gate fields can be formed by edge profiles of the gate fields themselves or, in particular in the case of fire-retardant or fire protection gates, can be designed as separate components placed on the inside of the gate fields. Depending on the design, the rollers can be mounted on the pivot axes of the hinges or on the inside of the gate so as to be rotatable about axes parallel to the hinge axes, whereby also Tandem drives for each hinge axis are known. The door is supported and held in any position on the guide rails. Usually, a close-to-ceiling arrangement of the lying legs of the guide rails is chosen, with headroom being taken into account for smaller gates, but for small and large gates such a rail guide is possible that the gate takes away hardly usable interior space from the space enclosed by it. In garage doors with a low ceiling height, it is known to provide the upper edge of the door opening just a little below the ceiling. In this case, the beginning of the arcuate transition pieces of the guide rails is moved to an area below the upper edge of the gate opening, so that the horizontal legs of these guide rails can be attached close to the ceiling despite a sufficiently large diversion bend. In an embodiment according to US Pat. No. 2,327,778, a guide roller is provided for the uppermost gate field only in the region of the lower edge which hinges to the next gate field. The top gate field, together with a bolt attached to it and engaging in the upper frame cross arm, can be actuated via a handlebar construction and can be opened on the horizontal leg of the guide rails adjoining the arched transition pieces, the handlebars guiding the gate wing into this position when the gate is moving is in the opening adjustment, so the entire gate has already been lifted out of its closed position, so that when the upper gate field is opened, the gate is not secured and cannot be locked. In other gates, separate guide rail sections are provided for an area lying above the curved transition pieces of the guide rails for rollers of the top gate field which are also provided in the vicinity of the upper edge and which move these rollers and thus the upper edge of the upper gate field into and out of the closed position conduct. Separate guide rails are preferably provided for the rollers assigned to the upper edge of the top gate field, which run parallel to the horizontal legs of the normal guide rails after the curved transition pieces. However, there are also versions in which these upper guide rail sections merge towards the interior of the room after the curved transition pieces into the normal horizontal legs of the running rails.

With garage doors, ventilation openings are usually required near the floor to discharge exhaust gases from the garage. Through these ventilation openings, however, it is neither possible to adequately ventilate the entire interior enclosed by the gate nor in the hot season to adequately dissipate the warm air rising to the ceiling.

The object of the invention is to provide a sectional door of the type mentioned, which allows good ventilation of the enclosed space without significant increase in the total effort, if necessary, without the burglar and theft protection being lost through the closed gate.

The object is achieved by the features of claim 1.

In the embodiment according to the invention, the gate wing construction can remain completely unchanged. By determining the end pieces of the guide rail sections in the escape position, incorrect operations are avoided if the door is not closed properly. If, according to claim 2, locks are also provided for the swung-out end position of the end pieces of the guide rail sections, the swung out top gate field even achieved additional security against unauthorized opening.

Further details and advantages of the subject matter of the invention can be found in the following description of the drawings.

The subject matter of the invention is illustrated in the drawing, for example. It shows
  • Fig. 1 seen in a highly schematic representation of the upper end area of a sectional door in the closed position from one edge of the gate wing and in partial section through the lintel and ceiling and
  • Fig. 2 shows the gate of FIG. 1 with the top gate field in the ventilation position.

The upper edge 1 of the door opening and the ceiling 2 of the room to be locked were shown. Within the door opening side edges 3, the vertical legs 4 of mutually open channel-shaped guide rails are provided on both sides of the door opening, which pass over arcuate transition pieces 5 starting at a distance from the upper edge 1 into horizontal legs 6 reaching into the interior of the room. Another guide rail section 7 leads from a separate end piece 8 in the arc to a horizontal leg 9 running parallel to the leg 6.

The gate has several gate fields that are continuous over the width of the gate opening, but each only reach over a fraction of the height of the gate opening, of which only the top gate field 10 and the subsequent gate field 11 have been shown. The gate fields 10, 11 etc. are connected to one another via swivel hinges 12 and, in the exemplary embodiment, are guided in the guide rails 4, 5, 6 with rollers rotatably mounted on the axes of these hinges 12. A Roller 13 on the upper edge of the top gate field 10 engages in the guide section 7 and its end piece 8. If the gate is opened from the position shown in FIG. 1, the rollers 13 follow the guide rail sections 7 and the rollers seated on the hinge axes 12 follow the guide rail sections 4, 5, 6. The weight of the gate leaf can be at the bottom by springs and next to the rail sections 4 Cable hoists guided in the gate field must be at least partially adjusted. Rollers 14 for such cables have been shown. The other drive devices can provide manual operation or motor winches or push rod drives. Since these facilities are known, they have not been shown.

The end pieces 8 of the upper guide rail sections 7 are designed as switches and attached to triangular supports 15 which can be pivoted about axes 16. A ratchet shown as a hook 17, which engages in a crossbar 18, holds the switch 8, 15 in the position shown in FIG. 1. If the locking mechanism 17, 18 is released, the switches 8, 15 can be pivoted into the position shown in FIG. 2 until they rest on stops 19. In this position (distance and arrangement of the pivot axis 18 is matched to the curvature of the part 8), the upper gate field 10 pivots into the ventilation position shown in FIG. 2, so that the enclosed space near the ceiling is adequately ventilated. After swiveling the switch 8, 15 into the position shown in FIG. 1, normal opening of the sectional door is again possible.

When attaching a motor drive, one will preferably also provide forced actuation via electromagnets for the locking mechanism 17, 18 and design the control so that the switch 8, 15 is forcibly moved into the position according to FIG. 1 before the opening adjustment.
