Abstract

The invention relates to a lever fastener for locking swing-down tailboards of commercial vehicles, having a hand lever (15), which is mounted pivotably on a baseplate (11) attached to the tailboard (16) and which has a fastening hook (17) engaging into a lug (18) provided on an adjacent tailboard. There are, furthermore, bolt means which, in their locking position, prevent the hand lever from opening and, in their release position, allow the hand lever to be opened. For this purpose, there is arranged on the hand lever (15) a resilient bolt member (23) which, in its locking position, bears against the fastening hook (17) under resilient prestress and, in its release position, is held in its open position by means of a catch device provided on the hand lever (15) or on the baseplate (11). To release the bolt member (23), there are on the baseplate (11) control means (27) which, during the pivoting of the hand lever, free the bolt member automatically from the catch device for its return into its locking position. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a lever lock for locking hinged side walls of commercial vehicles with a hand lever which is pivotally mounted on a base plate attached to the side wall and has a locking hook which engages in an eyelet provided on an adjacent side wall, and with locking means which in their Lock position prevent opening of the hand lever and allow opening of the hand lever in its unlocked position.
Lever locks of this type have been known in the trade and have been known for a long time. They have the purpose of locking the side walls delimiting a loading area of commercial vehicles against one another or against stanchions fixed to the chassis.

In practice, such closures are designed and arranged such that the hand lever is oriented vertically downwards in its closed position and the angled end of the locking hook engages in an eyelet attached to the adjacent side wall.

Especially when the fasteners are worn as a result of driving, it can happen that the locking hook of the hand lever no longer sits securely in the eyelet when shaken and opens automatically. Safety devices are provided to prevent these lever locks from being inadvertently released from their closed position.

In a known embodiment, in order to secure the closure, the closure hook which passes through an eyelet has a hole at its free end in which a split pin connected with a chain is inserted. The other end of the chain is attached to the side wall.

To secure the hand lever in its closed position, latching devices or locking devices are also used, which are arranged between the locking lever and the base plate on which the lever is pivotably mounted. Such a device is described in German utility model DE-U-8105158.
Locking or locking devices of this type, however, on the one hand impair the simple construction of the closures, and on the other hand question the operational reliability of the closures in rough driving conditions.

The invention has for its object to develop a lever lock of the generic type so that it has the simple, uncomplicated structure required for a mass product and ensures a reliably secured closed position and a pleasant opening.

This is achieved according to the invention in a first variant in that a resilient locking member serving as locking means is arranged on the hand lever, which in its Locking position rests under resilient bias on the locking hook and is held in its unlocking position in its unlocking position by means of a catch device provided on the hand lever or on the base plate and that control means are provided on the base plate which, when the hand lever is pivoted into its open position, automatically lock the locking member to return to release its locking position from the safety gear.

In an advantageous embodiment, the locking member consists of a bar spring or a leaf spring, which is attached to the hand lever and rests in the locking position with its free end on the locking hook under resilient bias and is held in the unlocking position in the catch device formed on the hand lever, and that Control means is designed as a control cam provided on the base plate in the path of movement of the locking member. In this case, the catching device can be designed as a latching recess worked into the hand lever.

In a further advantageous embodiment, the locking member consists of a rod-shaped spring element which is fastened to the hand lever and rests in the locking position with the free end on the locking hook under resilient pretension and is held and displaceably guided in the unlocking position in the catch device provided on the base plate and in that the control means is designed as a recess or platform lying in the path of movement of the locking member.

In particular, this embodiment is designed such that the catching device is designed as a groove which is machined into the base plate and runs in the direction of movement of the free end of the locking member and which has the cutout for the passage of the free end of the locking member in the region of the horizontal center line of the base plate.

The lever lock according to the invention allows the hand lever to be opened easily by holding the locking member out of the locking area on the locking hook when it is opened and automatically returning to its locking position before the lock is closed. This ensures a reliable function of the lock and thus a secure locking of the side walls of a commercial vehicle.

In a second variant, the object is achieved in that a resilient locking member serving as a locking means is arranged on the hand lever, which rests in its locking position under spring tension on the locking hook and in its unlocking position under spring tension on a control means formed on the base plate, and that when the hand lever is pivoted into its open position, the locking member automatically returns to its locking position.

In an advantageous embodiment of this variant, the locking member is designed as a spring which is fixed in the locking position and in the unlocking position, the control means consisting of an elevation extending into the movement path of the locking member, against which the free end of the locking member rests and when the hand lever is pivoted over it middle dead center position is controllable in such a way that it suddenly reaches its locking position.

Figure imgb0001
The locking element designed as a spring can essentially consist of one
Figure imgb0001
-shaped spring clip, the open ends of which each have a bend, which engage in staggered bores provided on the hand lever and are mounted.

By designing the locking member as a spring held stable in two end positions, a very simple construction of the closure is achieved, which has a high degree of operational reliability and service life.

A manufacturing advantage for the base plate produced as a forged component can be achieved by making the elevation to the horizontal center line of the base plate a mirror image. This enables both a left-hand and a right-hand stop of the closure using a single component.

The lever lock shown in the drawing consists of a base plate 11 with a bearing eye 12 for receiving a bearing axis 13. The base plate 11 is fastened to a side wall of a commercial vehicle by means of screws. The bearing pin 13 is riveted into the bearing eye 12 and provided with a rivet head 14 at its free end.

A hand lever 15 is pivotably mounted on the bearing journal 13, a disc spring being arranged between the hand lever and the rivet head 14 to compensate for play. In Figure 1, the closure is shown in its closed position, in which a locking hook 17 passes through an eyelet 18 attached to an adjacent side wall 16. The eyelet 18 is formed on an eyelet plate 19 which is fastened to the side wall 16 by means of screws. The eye plate 19 can be made as a forged part. The bottom side of the eyelet plate 19 is provided in its Nile facing away from the eyelet with a flat elevation 20 which extends outside the side wall surround 21 and which corresponds in height to the side wall surround 21.

In this way, the eyelet plate 19 can rest snugly on the side wall and be reliably attached without touching the side wall edging and being forced into an inclined position.

The hand lever 15 is provided with a handle 22 which projects vertically downwards in the closed position of the closure. To secure the hand lever in its closed position, in the exemplary embodiment illustrated in FIG. 1, a spring-elastic locking member 23 is provided as locking means, which is fastened in a pocket 24 provided on the hand lever 15.

The free end of the locking member 23 has a bend 25 which is supported in the closed position of the locking lever on the locking hook 17 and possibly also on the eyelet 18.

To open the hand lever 15, the locking member 23 is pivoted in the direction of the arrow B by means of thumb pressure until its turn 25 engages and is held in a locking recess 26 formed on the hand lever 15. Now the locking hook 17 and the eyelet 18 are freely movable against each other and the hand lever 15 can be pivoted into its open position.

During this pivoting process, the locking member 23 held in the locking recess 26 runs against a control cam 27 provided on the base plate and is moved out of the locking recess 26. Due to its resilient bias, the locking member 23 automatically rests on the locking hook 17. When the hand lever 15 is closed, the bend 25 of the locking member 23 runs over the eyelet 18 and arrives in the closed position of the hand lever 15 again under the eyelet 18 and locks the hand lever 15 in this way against unintentional opening during driving.

The lever lock shown in Figures 2 and 3 is constructed essentially the same as that described in Figure 1. The locking device for the resilient locking member 23, which is a bar spring with a bend 25 in both design variants, is fastened in a pocket 24 in the hand lever 15.

In the embodiment variant shown in FIG. 2, the latching device consists of a groove 28 which is worked into a bead 29 provided on the base plate 11. The bead 29 is generally used to support the hand lever 15 and to relieve the lever bearing against the locking forces that occur. The end face of the base plate 11 is designed in the direction of the groove as a run-on slope 32.
The groove opens approximately in the central region of the base plate 11 in a recess 30.
For the purpose of opening the lock, the locking member is pivoted in the direction of arrow B by means of thumb pressure until its end having the bend 25 engages and is held in the groove 28 via the run-up slope 32.

During the further opening process in order to move the locking hook 17 out of the eyelet, the locking member 23 with its bend 25 reaches the area of the recess 30 and leaves the groove 28 due to its resilient pretension and rests on the locking hook 17.

When the hand lever 15 is closed, the locking member 23 with its bend 25 overflows the eyelet 18 and is supported in the locking position of the closure on the locking hook 17 and possibly on the underside of the eyelet 18.
In order to be able to use the base plate 11 for both a right-hand and a left-hand stop, the control cam 27 or the groove 28 are formed in mirror image on the base plate 11.

A further embodiment of the groove 28 is shown in FIG. The bottom of the groove 28 is designed to rise towards the center of the base plate 11, and it ends in a platform 31, from which the locking member 23 with its bend 25 is finally derived during the opening process of the hand lever 15 and comes to rest against the locking hook 17.

In a further embodiment shown in Figure 6, the locking member 23 'is designed differently from the locking member described above and mounted on the hand lever 15'. The remaining structure of the lever lock corresponds essentially to the embodiment shown in Figure 1.

Das Riegelglied 23′ besteht aus einem

Figure imgb0002
The locking member 23 'consists of a
Figure imgb0002
-shaped spring clip 35 with spring legs 33 of different lengths, the free ends of which have pins 34 that are bent toward one another.
The spring clip 35 is attached to the hand lever 15 'by engaging with its pin 34 in the hand lever 15' one above the other bores 36. In this way, the spring clip 35 forms a spring which is stable on two sides, so that it rests on the one hand under spring tension on the locking hook 17 'or on the underside of the eyelet 18' and on the other hand by means of thumb pressure while overcoming a middle dead center position on the base plate 11 'provided bead 29' is brought to bear. The bead 29 'has a locking hook 17' facing concave surface 37 on which the spring clip 35 rests in the open position of the closure under resilient bias.

To open the closure, the spring clip 35 is thus applied to the surface 37 of the bead 29 'by means of thumb pressure, and the locking hook 17' is moved out of the eyelet 18 '.
Upon further opening of the hand lever 15 ', the spring clip 35 slides along the surface 37 until the middle dead center position of the spring clip 35 is overcome and the same snaps back into its locking position, in which it rests on the locking hook 17'. When the hand lever 15 'is closed, the spring clip 35 overflows the eyelet 18' and then arrives again at the locking hook 17 'or on the underside of the eyelet 18 in a locking manner.

In this way, a simply constructed and operationally reliable lever lock is created, which can be opened comfortably with one hand by the locking member is automatically held in its unlocked position and, depending on the opening process of the hand lever 15, 15 ', also automatically in its locking or blocked position is controlled.
