Description

  • The invention relates to a device for waste disposal comprising a bin having a bottom and an upright sidewall provided with means for detachably securing the bin between two supporting beams that can be vertically arranged.
  • Devices of the kind described above are well known and are mostly arranged in public places passed by by many people. In order to guarantee a certain lifetime, devices of this kind should have a simple but robust construction. Besides, on the one hand the bin must be firmly secured to the supporting beams in order to prevent undesired removal, but on the other hand the bin must be readily detachable by persons authorized thereto so that the bin can be readily and rapidly emptied.
  • The invention has for its object to provide a device of the kind described above, which satisfies in a satisfactory and inexpensive manner the requirements mentioned hereinbefore.
  • The device according to the invention is characterized in that the bin is provided near its bottom with two strip-shaped wings, which are arranged diametrically opposite each other, project from the sidewalls and each can be received by a hollow bush, which is connected to the supporting beam and whose wall is interrupted at one area so that the relevant strip-shaped wing can be passed through this perforation into and out of the bush, the bin being further provided near its upper edge with two further wing-shaped strips, which are arranged diametrically opposite each other, are rotatably connected to the sidewall and each can be received by a hollow bush, which is connected to each of the supporting beams and whose wall is interrupted at one area in such a manner that, when the rotatable wing-shaped strips are situated in front of the opening of their respective bush, the bin is pivotable about the wing-shaped strips present near the bottom and this bin can be removed via the perforation in the wall of the associated bushes.
  • In this manner, a robust and simple construction is obtained for a device for waste disposal, in which the bin can be suspended in a simple manner between the supporting beams and is then locked by rotation of the upper wing-shaped strips. The bin can be unlocked again by rotation of the same wing-shaped strips so that they are located in front of the opening of their respective bush, after which the bin can be slightly pivoted and the strips can be taken on the lower side out of their respective bushes, whereupon the bin is entirely free from the supporting beams and can be emptied.
  • In a further embodiment of the device according to the invention, the bushes for receiving the rotatable wing-shaped strips are constructed so that the interior thereof is accessible from the sides of the supporting beams. In this manner, by means of a simple tool, the wing-shaped strip can be rotated from the outside into a position in which the strip is enclosed in a bush or into a position in which the strip is situated in front of the opening in the wall of the bush, i.e. the so-called unlocked position.
  • In a further favourable embodiment, the bottom of the bin is provided with a strip welded thereto, which projects by each of its ends from both sidewalls of the bin, while these ends have a smaller width than the central part of the strip.
  • The invention will be described more fully with reference to the drawing, which shows an embodiment of the device.
    • Figures 1 and 2 show in two orthogonal elevations a device for waste disposal,
    • Figures 3 and 4 show on an enlarged scale the lower suspension point of the bin,
    • Figures 5 and 6 show on an enlarged scale the upper suspension and locking point of the bin.
  • In the Figures, reference numeral 1 designates a bin for collecting waste. This bin is arranged between two supporting beams 2 and 3, which are interconnected on their lower sides by means of a transverse beam 4. On their upper sides, the beams 2 and 3 are interconnected by means of a bent transverse beam 5. The supporting beams 2 and 3 can be arranged with their lower ends in the bottom.
  • The bottom 6 of the bin 1 is provided with a metal strip 7 welded thereto. The two ends 8 and 9 of the strip 7 both project from the sidewall 10 of the bin 1 and each have a slightly smaller width than the central part of the strip 7. The ends 8 and 9 constitute wing-shaped strips, which can be received by bushes 11 and 12, which are welded to the supporting beams 2 and 3.
  • The construction of the bushes 11, 12 and the strip ends 8, 9 is shown on an enlarged scale in Figures 3 and 4. It can be seen from these Figures that each of the bushes 11, 12 is cylindrical and its wall has an opening 13, 14. In the vertical position of the bin 1, the strip end 8 also extends vertically and is enclosed in its respective bush 11; the same applies to the strip end 9.
  • When the bin 1 is slightly pivoted, the strip end 8 and also the strip end 9 reach the position indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 3, so in front of the opening 13. In this position, the bin 1 can be removed from the bushes 11 and 12 and can be emptied. On its upper side, the bin 1 is provided with two wing- shaped strips 16 and 17, which are both rotatably connected to the sidewall of the bin 1. This rotatable connection can be obtained in different known ways.
  • The strips 16 and 17 can be received by bushes 18 and 19, which are again cylindrical and whose wall is again provided with an opening 20 and 21. The openings 20 and 21 are then located substantially in a horizontal plane so that, when the wing- shaped strips 16, 17 are brought into their substantially horizontal position, as is indicated by dotted lines in Figures 5, 6, the bin 1 is unlocked and can be rotatably pivoted about the lower strips 8, 9 from between the supporting beams until the lower strips 8, 9 are situated in front of their openings 13, 14 and the bin 1 can be removed.
  • In order that the wing- shaped strips 16, 17 can be rotated, the bushes 18, 19 and the supporting beams 2, 3 are provided with an opening 21 (see Fig. 6), through which a tool can be inserted, which cooperates with the wing-shaped strips and by which the latter can be brought into their desired position.
  • When both the lower strips 8, 9 and the upper strips 16, 17 occupy a vertical position, the bin 1 is firmly locked and secured to the supporting beams 2, 3. By rotation of the upper strips 16, 17 into their substantially horizontal position, the bin 1 is unlocked and can pivot until the strips 8, 9 are situated in front of their respective openings 13, 14, after which the bin 1 can be removed.
