Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a contact pin-contact socket assembly, in which the contact pin has two approximately parallel, a slot formed by punching oblong, resilient, serving for pressing into an opening in a printed circuit board, which serves in a shoulder to limit the insertion path leak.
Such a contact pin contact socket assembly is already part of the prior art according to US Pat. No. Re 29,513. In this unit, not only the contact pin but also the contact socket is essentially formed by punching out the contact plate. This contact socket, which corresponds to the insertion path of the contact pin adjoining shoulder, is designed in the form of a tongue having a punched-out opening, which is bent back on itself, specifically about an axis extending transversely to the pin axis and running approximately in the region of the punched-out contact opening. The tongue in question has a certain elasticity which determines the contact force with which the tongue rests against a mating contact pin inserted through the punched-out opening. In the event of dimension fluctuations that are ultimately unavoidable, in practice there are relatively high contact resistances with small insertion forces, or vice versa. High insertion forces, which in turn contribute to desirable low contact resistances, are forbidden wherever a large number of contact pin contact socket assemblies of the type described are fixed on a common printed circuit board with the aim of coupling them with a mating connector that has a corresponding number of mating connector pins of corresponding dimensions.
The invention has for its object to further develop the above-mentioned contact pin contact socket assemblies so that they are not only easily fixable on a printed circuit board on the one hand and ensure relatively low contact resistance on the socket side despite low insertion forces, but that these properties are also structurally very simple can be achieved.
The contact pin contact socket assembly according to the invention, in which this object is achieved, is essentially characterized in that the contact socket is formed by a contact spring socket with a plurality of contact springs, the contact springs starting approximately from the area of a clamping surface shoulder, which determines the position of the clamping of one end, extend at a distance from the socket axis to the region of the front pin insertion opening and has the smallest distance from the socket axis approximately in its central region, and that the shoulder delimiting the contact pin insertion path by said clamping surface shoulder Contact spring bushing is formed. This unit ensures not only a perfect hold and a satisfactory contact with respect to the printed circuit board and a very low contact resistance in relation to a plug inserted into the contact spring socket of the unit with a small insertion force. Rather, it should be emphasized that the double-function of the clamping surface shoulder, which is achieved in terms of design and production technology, is an essential element of both the contact pin for limiting the insertion path and the contact spring bushing by also determining the clamping position of the contact spring ends, ie the exact position of these springs required for the contact springs to function properly .
At this point, reference should be made to DE-PS 33 42 742 and GB-
In the contact pin / contact socket assembly according to the invention, the contact spring ends can bear directly against the cylindrical outer surface of the clamping surface shoulder and can be pressed against the latter. <In this case, the contact springs and the socket body containing them contribute to the overall diameter of the contact spring socket. A more compact design with a correspondingly small diameter can, however, be achieved if a smaller cylindrical ring shoulder with a ring groove provided at the foot of the ring shoulder protrudes from the clamping surface shoulder, into which the contact spring ends located between the ring shoulder and a sleeve body pushed over it protrude the ring shoulder of one edge of the socket body is flanged under abutting the face of the clamping surface shoulder.
The invention is further directed to a method for producing contact pin contact socket assemblies of the aforementioned designs. According to a first variant, this is essentially characterized in that firstly a turned part is produced, which the clamping surface shoulder with the if necessary. on the one hand adjoining cylindrical ring shoulder and on the other hand includes a contact pin section, from which, after the material that is superfluous on both sides has been milled and thus converted into a flat shape, the elongated hole is punched out in a subsequent punching process and that the socket body with the contact springs is then applied and fixed in the area of the clamping surface shoulder becomes. With this method, rod material with a diameter that corresponds to the diameter of the turned part in the area of the clamping surface shoulder can be used in a very economical manner, and the individual turned parts can thus be easily manufactured by automatic machines. This also applies to the machining of turned parts, ie the removal of material and the slot punching process.
A variant of the manufacturing method according to the invention, in which flattening in the contact pin area is not required, is essentially characterized in that from a contact sheet material with two tape areas of different thickness, namely an area with a thickness corresponding to the diameter of the clamping surface shoulder and an area with one of the desired contact pin thickness corresponding strength is punched out a blank with simultaneous formation of the elongated hole, that then the clamping surface shoulder and if necessary. the cylindrical ring approach are formed in a twisting process, and that the socket body with the contact springs is then applied and fixed in the area of the clamping surface shoulder. This method also allows automatic lathes to be used in a very economical manner.
According to a further variant of the method according to the invention, it is also possible to first produce a turned part, which the clamping surface shoulder with the if necessary. subsequent cylindrical ring approach, to then butt weld this contact part to the clamping surface shoulder on this side, which is made in a separate punching process with simultaneous formation of the elongated hole, on the side which is remote from the socket body side.
