Abstract

The tungsten-halogen lamp holder (3) of the lighting fixture is retained by a mount consisting of two U-profiled parts (6, 7) at a distance behind the reflector shell (1) that can be chosen by displacing the second U-profiled part (7). The reflector shell (1) has an opening (2) through which the tungsten-halogen lamp (4) projects into the reflector chamber (20). The cross-section of the opening (2) is a multiple of the cross-section of the tungsten-halogen lamp, so that a wide annular gap (21) for through-ventilation is free between the tungsten-halogen lamp (4) and the opening rim (9) of the reflector shell (1). In order to form a through-ventilation chamber (22), the mount (6, 7) is completely open to the rear and, moreover, on two opposite sides. The tungsten-halogen lamp holder (3) is freely retained by the mount (6, 7) in the through-ventilation chamber (22) adjoining the annular gap (21), so that the holder (3) is enveloped by the air current flowing through the annular gap (21), and the cap (base) of the tungsten-halogen lamp is cooled. The service life of the tungsten-halogen lighting fixture is thereby substantially increased. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a lamp according to the preamble of claim 1, in particular a halogen lamp. The advantage of such lights is the longer life of the light bulbs (halogen bulbs). It is achieved by cooling the bulb socket in the air passage space adjoining the annular gap.

The previous lights of this type (US-A-3,684,883) were equipped with a chimney or pipe (stovepipe, ventilation duct) adjoining the annular gap in order to create an air passage space according to the usual criteria of heating and ventilation technology. The bulb holder was suspended in the chimney or pipe so that the air flow flowing through the annular gap into the air passage space flowed around it and was thus cooled. Additional structural elements were provided to hold the reflector shell and the bulb socket, in the luminaire according to US-A-3,684,883 a cable system between a flange provided on the upper edge of the fireplace and a flange provided on the lower edge of the reflector shell. The known holder structures were relatively complex.

Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. It is based on the task of extending the life of the luminaires with the simplest of means.

The solution to the problem according to the invention is the subject of claim 1. It is based on the knowledge that a short annular gap in the region of the reflector shell base is sufficient to generate the air flow required for cooling the socket, and therefore the air passage space (in the area of the bulb socket) can be kept open on the side. This allows the simple, inexpensive construction with the U-profile part.

The lamp has a hemispherical reflector shell 1 made of metal with a large opening 2 obtained by separating a spherical cap or spherical cap. The reflector shell 1 and the socket 3 of a halogen light bulb 4, the power supply lines of which are designated by 5, are made up of one of two U-profile parts 6 , 7 existing bracket worn. The first U-profile part 6 is attached to the back of the reflector shell 1. For this purpose, it has in its web 8 a hole adapted to the opening 2 of the reflector shell 1 and the opening edge 9 of the reflector shell 1 is flanged around the edge of the hole. An elongated hole 12 running parallel to the axis 11 of the reflector shell 1 and the side edges of the legs 10 is formed in each of the two legs 10 of the first U-profile part 6 which extend to the rear.

The bulb socket 3 is fastened on the web 13 of the second U-profile part 7 on the side facing away from the reflector shell 1. The web 13 has a through opening 14 in the center for the halogen bulb neck, the diameter of which is correspondingly large and is matched to the size of the holder 3. The two legs 15 of the second U-profile part 7 are located on the inner sides of the legs 10 of the first U-profile part 6 and, depending on the outside, projecting lugs 16 engaging in the elongated holes 12 and threaded bores for engaging screws 17 through the elongated holes 12 reach through and firmly connect the U-profile part 7 to the legs 10. With the lugs 16 which facilitate assembly and form a guide and the screws 17 which extend through the elongated holes 12, the two legs 15 are slidably mounted in the two elongated holes 12 and can be fixed in the desired position on the edges of the elongated holes, so that the insertion depth of the halogen bulb 4 can be set in the reflector shell 1 according to requirements. The lugs 16 and screws 17 are arranged axially one behind the other, which results in parallel guidance of the second U-profile part 7 when moving along the elongated holes 12 and it is ensured that the axis of the halogen bulb 4 remains in the axis 11 of the reflector shell 1.

The legs 10 of the first U-profile part 6 have in the vicinity of their rear ends two mutually opposite recesses 18, on which the bracket of the reflector shell 1 and socket 3 formed by the two U-profile parts 6, 7 are suspended from a suitable suspension can. Retaining springs, for example, can be attached to the cutouts 18, with which the holder can be arranged in a lamp frame or housing.

The reflector shell 1 and the two U-profile parts 6, 7 are preferably made of aluminum. In the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, the hemispherical reflector shell 1 has a diameter of 60 to 65 mm. A spherical cap or spherical cap is separated from it at a height of 2 to 4 mm, as a result of which the opening 2 of approximately 20 mm in diameter is formed, through which the cylindrical halogen bulb 4, which has a diameter of approximately 10 mm, projects. The diameter of the opening 2 is thus about twice as large as the diameter of the (cylindrical) halogen bulb 4; the cross-section (the cross-sectional area) of the opening 2 is therefore approximately four times and the cross-section of the annular gap 21 formed between the halogen bulb 4 and the opening edge 2 of the reflector shell 1 is approximately three times the cross-section of the halogen bulb. The cross section of the opening 2 could also be another multiple of the halogen bulb cross section, for example only twice or more than four times, a wide annular gap 21 being essential for cooling the socket 3 and therefore at least approximately four times being preferred. In the case of light bulbs with an axially curved head, the cross section of the opening 2 (that is to say the area enclosed by the edge 9) is to be selected many times larger than the largest cross-sectional area of the light bulb head part, which reaches the area of the opening 2 when the U-profile part 7 is axially displaced . The socket 3 can also be arranged immovably (stationary) in the holder 6, 7, in which case the cross section of the opening 2 is at least twice, preferably at least four times as large as the cross section of the part of the light bulb located in the area of the opening is to be selected.

The socket 3 is carried completely freely in the center of the bracket consisting of only the two U-profile parts 6, 7 by the web 13 in the air passage space 22 formed between the two legs 10. The air passage space 22, into which the wide annular gap 21 opens for the passage of air, is completely open at the top and limited only laterally by the two legs 10, and is therefore also completely open on the two sides lying in between and - since the distance between the legs 10 is greater than the diameter the opening 2 is widened radially outwards with respect to the annular gap 21.

The light bulb holder 3, which is carried freely in the air passage space 22, is flowed around by the air, which is heated by the light bulb 4 in the reflector space 20 and rises through the wide annular gap 21, and is thereby cooled. (If the luminaire is not directed downwards but upwards, the air flow is reversed). The air heated from the base (base) of the halogen bulb or socket 3 is exchanged with the rising air. It has been shown that the base of the halogen bulb 4 in the version 3 in the arrangement described is not, or in any case not significantly above 120 ° C., despite the heating due to the heat radiation reflected by the opening from the head of the bulb 4 in the reflector shell 1 warmed up. The ventilation effect and cooling is of course particularly effective and intensive when the lamp hangs vertically. A good effect is also achieved in other locations.
