- the absolute pressure meter which is present anyway, can be used to determine the air mass in the internal combustion engine, in order to determine the barometer reading for the displacement of the smoke limit curve. This can be done by storing the pressure curve over a longer period of time, e.g. 10 to 15 Minutes can be provided, in which the absolute ambient pressure is recorded again and again due to the unavoidable gas removal due to gear changes or other circumstances. By reading the minimum value, the smallest existing pressure in a period of approx. 15 minutes can be used as a measure of the shift in the smoke limit curve.
