Definitions
- the present invention relates to a transformer with a closed ferrite magnetic circuit comprising an air gap, more particularly a transformer of the above type used in switching power supplies.
- a type of transformer for switching power supply consists of a magnetic circuit consisting of two ferrite half-circuits having in section an "E" shape and of a winding carcass carrying a coil comprising one or more several electrically separated windings.
- the winding carcass is provided with an axial hole into which the central legs of the "E" are inserted.
- the magnetic circuit and the winding carcass are assembled by gluing.
- one of the ferrite half-circuits is bonded to the winding carcass, then the two magnetic half-circuits are assembled together by bonding the facing faces of the outer legs of the circuits.
- An air gap is therefore obtained between the inner legs.
- the air gap easily absorbs the mechanical stresses caused in particular by thermal shock according to the constraints imposed by the standards in force.
- the air gap when the air gap is an air gap, it generates magnetostrictive phenomena which result in audible snoring in the transformer, magnetostriction being a phenomenon of elastic deformation linked to magnetization, that is to say that characteristics of the ferrite vary according to the magnetic induction.
- the present invention therefore aims to remedy the above drawbacks by proposing a new material.
- the subject of the present invention is a transformer of the closed magnetic ferrite circuit type comprising an air gap, characterized in that the air gap is filled with a single-component mastic having a Shore hardness having a constant behavior as a function of the temperature.
- the putty has a Shore hardness of 30 to 25 ° C.
- the single-component sealant is chosen from polysulphide or polyurethane sealants.
- the putty used is a polysulphide putty.
- Single-component sealants such as polysulfide or polyurethane sealants have the advantage of being self-adhesive, of being flexible enough to absorb vibrations and, on the other hand, of polymerizing without shrinking over time.
- a transformer 1 for switching power supply comprises a magnetic circuit consisting of two ferrite half-circuits 2, 3 having in section a shape of "E".
- the lower magnetic half-circuit 3 has an inner leg or central leg 9 shorter than the two outer legs.
- the transformer 1 also includes a winding carcass 4.
- This carcass carries a coil 5 comprising one or more electrically separate windings.
- the magnetic circuit and the coil carcass are assembled by gluing as explained below.
- the bonding of the magnetic circuit with respect to the carcass 4 consists of depositing glue on the outer face of a cheek 12 of the carcass 4. This cheek 12 is that which is on the side of the lower magnetic half-circuit 3 and the 'base 13 for fixing the transformer and electrical connection of these windings.
- the glue dots 12a and 12b therefore make it possible to secure the magnetic circuit 3 and the carcass 4.
- glue dots are deposited in the spaces 10, 11 between the facing faces of the outer legs of the magnetic circuits 2, 3 so to secure the two magnetic circuits.
- the air gap 6 between the inner legs 8, 9 is then constituted by air. This type of air gap absorbs the mechanical stresses due to thermal shock. As a result, there is no longer any risk of cracking of the ferrites. However, this air gap generates magnetostriction noises which result in audible snoring, which is particularly annoying.
- the air gap determined by the legs 8 and 9 is filled with an absorbent material 15 as shown in FIG. 2.
- This material 15 consists of a single-component sealant with a Shore hardness of around 30 ShA at 25 ° C. This Shore hardness also has a constant behavior as a function of temperature.
- the one-component sealant is chosen from polysulfide or polyurethane sealants.
- a polysulphide sealant is used which currently has the advantage of having greater flexibility than polyurethane sealants.
- Polysulfide mastic also has the advantage of being a good heat sink, which allows the calories generated at the air gap to be removed with better efficiency than in the case of an air air gap.
- the putty sold by CIBA-GEIGY under the name of ARA joint PRC was used as polysulphide mastic.
- This putty was deposited in an air gap having a width of 0.8 mm in the form of a pasty drop of 0.4 to 0.7 gram.
- This type of sealant has the advantage of polymerizing without significant shrinkage over time.
- This paste was deposited before assembly of the two magnetic half-circuits 2 by the glue dots 10 and 11, as in the case of FIG. 1.
