This solution saves time since there is no need to remove the needles once all the folds of fabric have been placed. On the other hand, it is no longer necessary to use a rubber mat on the table. These pins are also made of a material that can be easily cut by the cutting blade in case they are in the passage of the latter.

Description

The present invention relates to a method for stacking several sheets of material having repeating patterns, while respecting the superimposition of the patterns from one sheet to another and device for its implementation.

The manufacture of articles constituted by the juxtaposition of several pieces cut from sheets of material comprising patterns generally presents some difficulties as soon as one wants to match the patterns together along the assembly lines: this is the case , for example, in textile manufacturing for the manufacture of clothing from fabrics with repeating patterns. Other areas may encounter the same problems: automobile industry (car seat upholstery), furniture industry and generally all industries where parts of flexible materials, such as fabric, must be assembled respecting the correct connection of the patterns).

Thus for example in the production of a garment cut from a patterned fabric, considering that all the patterns of the different pieces have been determined beforehand and that the operator has the different corresponding templates, precise knowledge of the model to be obtained, d '' after the work of stylists and model makers, allows to determine the precise places where the patterns must be connected: this is generally the case in any place where one wishes to obtain a continuity of the pattern while respecting the concept volume. These particular places are marked on the templates. The operator then spreads a fold of fabric on a table and begins to arrange his templates directly on this fold while respecting the coincidence of the marks of the templates and the patterns of the fabric. In the end, he gets a placement and can cut out the different pieces. He will then assemble the pieces together until he obtains the garment in its final form. The procedure described above, completely manual, can obviously be advantageously improved by devices known and commonly used to ensure the automatic gradation of the patterns, the automatic cutting of these patterns and the automatic cutting of the fabric after recording the position of the templates on the fabric.

In this type of manufacturing, the cuts are repetitive and the same operations must be repeated with each new fold. If they are perfectly suited to the "tailor-made" cut for which the dimensions are never the same from one garment to another, they are, on the other hand, not very productive for small or medium series. It is therefore advantageous, in this case there, to cut several folds at the same time. There are several techniques for this, all manual, using traditional needle tables. The operator must superimpose several folds of fabric while precisely superimposing the patterns from one fold to another. For this, needles are used materializing the points of connection of the patterns. These needles are arranged vertically and directly on the cutting table. Depending on the working methods, the needles can be placed, in relation to a parent layout, or in relation to a standard "grid" close to that of the pattern. These needles are always placed before the first fold of fabric is deposited. The operator then deposits the folds, one by one, taking care, with each fold, to plant the needles, one by one, in the right places. The needles being fixed, it is necessary to stretch or contract the fabric to bring it to the desired position. The patterns, although repetitive, never have a perfectly constant pitch, which explains this permanent readjustment. Once the stacking is complete, the mattress thus formed is cut out, directly on the table, after the operator has taken care to remove the needles. This is the only procedure for obtaining a correct result. However, it is completely manual, long and tedious, impractical and is also incompatible with automatic cutting machines.

The present invention overcomes these drawbacks for the first time and satisfactorily by proposing a method for stacking sheets of material having repeating patterns while respecting the superposition of said patterns from one sheet fold to the next, successively comprising:
- depositing a relatively rigid sheet on a cutting table,
- bringing and depositing from a supply member a first sheet fold with repetitive patterns on said relatively rigid sheet,
- recording of an optimized arrangement of all the parts to be cut,
- the installation of perforating vertical elements at predetermined points of said first ply to identify the patterns,
- supplying, removing and fixing one by one of the following folds while respecting the superposition of the patterns by pressing said folds on the perforating elements already in place,
characterized in that the feeding and removal of each fold takes place automatically
- by engaging the free end of the fold in a clamp device mounted transversely on a main carriage movable longitudinally and on which is hung in its rear part a light conveyor belt,
- then moving said carriage to the front of the cutting table, which has the effect of stretching a certain length of fold above the table by making it rest on said light conveyor belt to protect it from perforating elements,
- then releasing the free end of the fold from the clamp device while keeping it on the table,
- by bringing the carriage with the light conveyor belt towards the rear of the table,
and finally by transversely cutting the fold to separate it from the supply member.

According to an embodiment of the method of the invention, the vertical perforating elements consist of needles which are intended to be removed after stacking the plies and before cutting the pieces and after each fold removal.

According to an alternative embodiment, self-adhesive pads are threaded onto the needles intended to fix the folds between them.

According to another variant implementation of the method of the invention, the positioning of the perforating elements is carried out after each ply removal, said perforating elements being intended to fit into one another to fix the pleats between them and the perforating elements preferably being pushpins with a self-adhesive head made of a material which is sufficiently fragile not to hinder cutting.

Another object of the invention is a device for stacking sheets of material having repeating patterns while respecting the superposition of said patterns from one sheet fold to the next, comprising a main carriage movable longitudinally relative to the cutting table and a light conveyor belt whose width is at least equal to that of the folds, characterized in that said carriage consists of two separable movable members, one of which is motorized and carries a shooting device used for recording the optimized arrangement of all the parts to be cut, and the other is towed and comprises a transverse clamp device intended to engage the free end of the folds, said towed member being hooked in its rear part to said light conveyor belt intended for support and protect the patterned sheet fold when fed.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the light conveyor belt is kept under tension by two belts moving longitudinally on either side of the table passing over idler rollers located at the ends of said table and the belts are attached to the towed member of the main carriage and move with it, driving the free end of the light conveyor belt which supports the fold to be deposited.

According to another characteristic of the device of the invention, the towed member of the main carriage further comprises a cutting means intended to separate the successive folds from the supply member after their removal, said cutting means moving transversely relative to the towed member and the separable members of the main carriage being assembled by means of a device '' electromechanical attachment.

The present invention therefore provides a method and a device for making stacks of sheets of material with repeating patterns, while respecting the superposition of patterns from one sheet to another, to prepare the cutting plane as a function of the distribution exact patterns and save material.

In addition, the automation of basic functions considerably improves the ergonomics of the workstation. Although the invention can be used in isolation, the maximum of its capacities and its performances will be obtained in association with an automatic cutting system.

  • - Figure 4 shows the device in the removal phase of the same fold.

The general chassis of the device, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, is constituted by a table, resting on the ground by means of feet and whose tray (1) is covered by a thick carpet (2 ) made of rubber or similar. A mobile main carriage moves longitudinally relative to the table.

This carriage consists of two separable movable members, one of which (3) is motorized and the other (6) of which is towed.

The motorized member (3) carries a shooting device such as a camera (4). This camera is used for recording the arrangement of the patterns on the first fold. tissue.

Servomotors provide controlled movements in speed and position of the motorized member (3) along the longitudinal axis and of the camera along the transverse axis.

Thanks to a digital control and an appropriate program, the camera (4) can therefore be moved at any point above the table. One of the additional advantages of having a camera is to be able to take into account possible faults. Indeed, when operators spread out the folds, if they notice the presence of a defect, they can move the camera above this defect and, by superimposing on the screen with the actual displacement, they can appreciate the importance of this defect: either it is outside the pieces and can be left, or it is on a piece and it is absolutely necessary to eliminate it, hence the exclusion of the part of fabric concerned according to traditional methods.

The towed member (6) comprises a transverse clamp device (12) intended to engage the free end of the folds of tissue and on which is hung in its rear part a light conveyor belt (7), for example of the Mylar type, intended to support and protect the underside of the fold during its feeding.

This light conveyor belt (7) is kept under tension by two belts (10) moving longitudinally on either side of the table passing over idler rollers (5) located at the ends of the table.

The belts (10) are attached to the towed member (6) and move with it, driving the free end of the strip (7) which thus remains always taut and which supports the fold to be deposited.

The towed member (6) also includes cutting means for separating the successive plies from the fabric supply member after they have been placed on the table. The supply member preferably consists of a roller (8), placed behind the table and which is capable of delivering tissue almost tension free. The axis of the roller (8) is motorized and receives start or stop orders via an optoelectronic cell (9). The fabric loop deliberately created between the fabric roll and the table allows automatic regulation of the fabric supply on the table. The tension of the fabric is at most equal to the weight of the loop.

After removal, the fabric fold is therefore cut transversely by the cutting means which preferably consists of a rotary electric knife. This knife is carried by a secondary carriage which moves transversely on the towed member (6) and which is moved by an electric motor or a pneumatic cylinder.

Un dispositif d'accrochage automatique (15) permet d'assembler l'organe motorisé (3) avec l'organe tracté (6).An automatic attachment device (15) makes it possible to assemble the motorized member (3) with the towed member (6).

The towed member (6) is placed behind the motorized member (3) at a sufficient distance so that the operators can intervene on the fabric without being hampered.

Several known solutions can be used to make the device (15), by electromechanical means, by electromagnet or by pneumatic cylinder.

Thanks to this assembly, the towed member can be moved from one end of the table to the other to spread out a controlled length of fabric.

Figures 2 and 3 provide a better understanding of the process of the invention.

On arrête le chariot principal à une certaine distance prédéterminée et on effectue la coupe transversale du tissu au moyen du couteau (13) de l'organe (6).We start by spreading, manually, a relatively rigid sheet, such as a sheet of paper of the Kraft paper type or similar, on the table. The different folds of fabric will be placed on this sheet. Its role is to serve as a rigid support for the future mattress in order to facilitate handling. We then proceed to the spreading of a first ply of fabric. The movable members (3, 6) are assembled by means of the hooking device to constitute the main movable carriage. The latter is brought into the rear position. The operators take the free end of the fabric (14), engage it in the clamp device (12) of the member (6) of the main carriage and lock the clamp to firmly hold the tissue. The main carriage is sent towards the front of the table, which has the effect of unrolling and stretching a certain length of fabric above the table by resting it on the light conveyor belt (7). the clamp (12) while maintaining manually or by mechanical means the free end of the fabric on the table then the main carriage is brought back, which results in depositing the fabric on the table. The main carriage is stopped at a certain predetermined distance and the fabric is cut across by means of the knife (13) of the member (6).

Once this first ply of fabric has been spread out, and, insofar as an automatic cutting machine is available downstream, the operation known as interactive placement is carried out. The optimized arrangement of all the pieces making up the garment is commonly called placement in order to save material. This placement is interactive when the operator chooses the layout of the rooms. It can also be fully automatic, the computer then taking care of finding the best possible arrangement. For this, computer means are used, based on computers and display screens. Before proceeding with this operation, preparatory work is necessary. A so-called basic placement will have been prepared. This optimized placement is characterized by a minimum spacing between pieces corresponding to half the theoretical value of the pitch of the pattern present on the fabric. We are thus sure to be able to cut all the pieces, with their connection points, in the fabric coupon thus determined.

The operator searches for the registered standard placement. This placement then appears on the screen. Superimposed and thanks to the camera, he sees the fabric and its patterns. It then has computer functions that allow you to readjust the placement piece precisely in relation to the pattern. Whenever necessary, the camera will be moved so as to reach the places outside the screen field.

This is done piece by piece so as to readjust all the pieces of the original placement. We then create a new placement corresponding precisely to the fold of fabric deposited, which is stored in memory for the cutting operation. This semi-automatic procedure can be fully automated. At that time, it is the computer which is responsible for calculating the displacements of the pieces of the original placement so as to match them with the patterns.

Whether or not this interactive placement operation is carried out, the following operation consists in superimposing several plies of fabric while ensuring the exact superimposition of the patterns relative to the first ply of fabric placed. For this, vertical perforating elements (11) are used such as fine needles sharpened at their two ends which are stitched on the fabric at the places which are considered significant and which are predetermined. The operator performs this work according to his experience and the quantity of needles depends on the quality of superposition which he wishes to obtain. In order to make it possible to place the needles, the upper face of the table is covered with a rubber-like mat (2) into which they can be inserted easily.

Once all the perforating elements (11) positioned, the next fold is deposited. This removal will be carried out fold by fold from the start of the table to the rear. At each removal, the operators, placed on either side of the table, manipulate the fabric so as to stitch it on the vertical perforating elements in the same places as on the first fold. This operation will be repeated up to a length of fabric corresponding to the length of the placement that we want to perform. However, the depositing surface is no longer "smooth" and it is no longer possible to pull the fabric directly on this table, which will not fail to catch on the perforating elements (11) and thus deteriorate. It is to avoid this drawback that the strip of material of Mylar type or similar (7) is used, which one will choose for its lightness and its resistance to tearing. The belts (10) move at the same time as the main carriage on which they are hooked and drive the free end of the strip (7), which thus remains always taut. The position of the strip (7) is such that it passes above the ends of the perforating elements 11 when the latter are planted in the rubber mat (2). When the main carriage moves, the strip (7) will slide over the ends of the perforating elements without deteriorating (hence the wise choice to make for the material of this sheet). The fabric, when it has been hooked by the clamp (12), thus rests on the continuous smooth surface which constitutes the strip (7). In the case where an interactive placement will have been created from real patterns, precise knowledge of the length of the mattress, determined by the calculator, will allow the different folds to be cut to an optimal length, resulting in a saving of material compared to the conventional method. When the mattress is finished, the operators remove the perforating elements and manually transfer the mattress to the cutting table by sliding it, taking care to pull only on the bottom sheet of paper or the like. This is important in order to avoid moving the folds between them, which would destroy the overlapping of the patterns.

If the mattress does not handle handling well, several solutions can be implemented in order to make the different folds inseparable from each other, with, however, the disadvantage of slightly lengthening the work cycle. The first solution is to use simple circular self-adhesive paper pads on both sides. Each time the fabric has been stitched on the needles, we add just at the point where the needle is a self-adhesive patch, which is threaded on the needle and glued by pressure on the fabric. When we come to put the next fold, there will be gluing of the two folds in this place. When the needles are removed, the different folds will be glued together. These pellets are made of a flexible material and if they happened to be on the passage of the blade during cutting, they would be cut without problem.

The other solution is to use thumbtacks with a self-adhesive head and which have the ability to be able to fit into each other. As soon as the first fold of fabric has been applied, these pins are placed in the same way as the needles. They stay in place thanks to their self-adhesive head. When laying the following folds of fabric, we just fit a new pushpin on the one already in place and so on. This solution saves time since there is no need to remove the needles once all the folds of fabric have been placed. On the other hand, it is no longer necessary to use a rubber mat on the table. These pins are also made of a material that can be easily cut by the cutting blade in case they are in the passage of the latter.
