Obwohl solche Klettverschlüsse recht haltbare Verschlüsse ergeben, können sie sich unter extremen Belastungen, insbesondere bei Einwirkung eines Zugs, der von der Richtung der Verbindungsebene der beiden gegenüberliegenden Klettelemente weg gerichtet ist, öffnen. Außerdem lassen sich Klettverschlüsse nur einzeln öffnen oder schließen, während demgegenüber Schnürsenkelverschlüsse bis zu einem gewissen Grad durch Zug am Ende des Schnürsenkels den gesamten Verschluß spannen oder lösen lassen.
