Bei in Ruhelage befindlichem Kupplungspedal übt die Feder eine das Pedal in dieser Lage haltende Rückstellkraft aus und bei Betätigen des Pedals sowie nach Überschreiten einer Totpunktstellung gibt die Feder eine die Fußkraft unterstützende Kraft ab. Durch die Festlegung des einen Endes der Druckstange mit der Feder am Fahrzeugaufbau sowie des relativ großen Abstands dieser Lagerpunkte zum vorderen Lagerpunkt der Druckstange am Pedal ergibt sich bei einem relativ großem Schwenkwinkel des Pedals durch den sich bildenden Hebelarm eine Kraftunterstützung, die nach Überschreiten der Totpunktstellung nur schwach ansteigt. Desweiteren ist aus der GB-A-826 459 ein Kupplungspedal mit einer Unterstützungsfeder bekannt, die einerseits am Pedal und andererseits an einem Lagerbock des Fahrzeugaufbaus befestigt ist. So kann die Druckstange um den Lagerpunkt am Hebelarm des Pedals und die Feder um ihren aufbauseitigen Festpunkt mit der Druckstange verschwenken. Dies bewirkt schon bei einem geringen Verschwenkwinkel des Pedals in vorteilhafter Weise ein sich sprunghaft vergrößerndes Unterstützungsmoment.
