Abstract

A back-rest for chair, arm-chair, seat or the like, has two laterally arranged back-shells (1) of similar design to the support surfaces of horse saddles, which are concave in relation to an axis essentially perpendicular to the seat surface (20) and convex in relation to a horizontal transverse axis above the seat surface (20).

Claims (3)

  1. Back rest for a chair, easy-chair, seat or similar, having two laterally arranged, spring-mounted contoured back elements (1) which are concave in shape relative to an axis that is predominantly perpendicular to the seat (20), characterized in that said contoured back elements (1), being fashioned in a manner similar to the bearing surfaces of horses' saddles, are convex in shape relative to a horizontal transverse axis above said seat (20), each of said contoured back elements (1) being attached top and bottom to the ends of a spring element (2) which is interlocked with a support or transverse rail (3) and which may for example take the form of a spring rod, one or more tension springs, a helical spring, an elastic tube or similar.
  2. Back rest according to Claim 1, characterized in that said contoured back elements (1) have, attached to a point approximately in the centre of each, a spring element which is interlocked with said support or transverse rail (3), preferably a rubber buffer (5) allowing rotational movement of said contoured back elements (1) around all three axes.
  3. Back rest according to either of Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that a draught insulator, a cushion or a heated cushion (6) is provided either in front of or behind said contoured back elements (1).
