Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for connecting the inner and outer conductor of a coaxial cable to contact pins.
  • Such devices are used, for example, in telecommunications equipment. Connections of coaxial cables to, for example, a spring or male connector of a multiple connector part arranged in a printed circuit board are also required.
  • snap-in inserts parts of the multiple connector part can be replaced by coaxial connector parts consisting of a coaxial plug and a coaxial socket. Such multiple connector parts with snap-in inserts represent a significant cost factor.
  • transition from a coaxial cable to a multi-pin connector is known.
  • the transition consists of a coplanar wall line with a conductor strip surrounded by a conductive surface.
  • the inner conductor of the coaxial cable is in contact with one end of the conductor strip and the outer conductor is at least at one point in contact with the conductive surface of the ribbon cable.
  • the other end of the conductor strip is connected to a pin of the multi-pin connector. At least one adjacent pin is connected to the conductive surface of the ribbon cable.
  • Dec invention is based on the object of specifying a device of the type mentioned, the one electrically secure connection of a coaxial cable, in particular to contact pins of a female or male connector of a multiple connector part arranged, for example, in a printed circuit board, which is simple and inexpensive to produce and has good electrical properties with regard to coaxial signal routing.
  • the object is achieved in a device of the type mentioned above in that the device has an essentially flat part made of electrically highly conductive material with a connecting lug for connecting the outer conductor, the part having openings on the circumference, through which the first contact pins can be passed and with the part can be contacted and wherein a second contact pin can be passed through a recess arranged approximately in the middle of the part and can be contacted with the inner conductor of the coaxial cable.
  • Fig. 1 shows a partially cut perspective view of a multiple connector part arranged in a printed circuit board with a device for connecting a coaxial cable.
  • Fig. 2 shows a partial section of the arrangement of Fig. 1 in side view.
  • Fig. 3 shows in perspective a device for connecting a coaxial cable.
  • Fig. 4 shows in perspective a further embodiment of a device for connecting two coaxial cables.
  • the device shown in Figures 1 to 3 for connecting an inner conductor 2 and an outer conductor 3 of a coaxial cable 1 with the female or male connector of a multi-connector part 6 arranged in a circuit board 7 consists essentially of a flat part 8 made of electrically highly conductive material.
  • the part 8 has a connecting lug 13 provided with clamping means 10, to which the end of the outer conductor 3 freed from the cable sheath 12 is clamped and soldered in a known manner in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
  • the outer conductor is connected to the terminal lug with the aid of a crimp sleeve.
  • the part 8 has openings 14 on its circumference, which are designed in accordance with the arrangement pattern of first contact pins 5 arranged in the printed circuit board 7.
  • the openings 14 are designed as clamping contacts and are introduced into the part 8 made of spring sheet metal, for example by etching.
  • contact pins 5 arranged on a spring or male connector 6 are passed through the openings 14 and electrically and mechanically connected to the part 8 by the clamping action.
  • the part 8 also has a recess 15 arranged approximately in its center, through which a second (middle) contact pin 16 of the spring or knife strip 6 is guided.
  • the middle contact pin 16 is with the end of the inner conductor 2 of the coaxial cable 1 freed from the intermediate insulation 4, for example by a soldering spring 9 or by a clamping sleeve connected.
  • the end of the central contact pin 16 protruding from the part 8 is passed through an insulating washer 11 to prevent short circuits.
  • a correspondingly designed spacer can be inserted between the circuit board and part 8 (not shown).
  • Contact pins already known from the press-in technique are particularly suitable, since they are thickened in their lower region.
  • the device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 thus enables a simple, inexpensive and electrically secure connection of a coaxial cable in contact pins, in particular a spring or male connector of a multiple connector part arranged, for example, in a printed circuit board.
  • a corresponding multiple mating connector part can be easily detachably contacted with the multiple connector part. Due to the arrangement pattern of the openings 14 of the part 8, this device has good electrical properties with regard to coaxial signal routing.
  • the possibility is created to carry out the coaxial cable connection together with other cables, for example via the female connector of a multiple connector part 6 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, for example within a common cable harness.
  • FIG. 4 a device for connecting two coaxial cables is shown.
  • a flat part 17 is formed approximately corresponding to two adjacent parts 8 of the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, a central row 18 of the bores 14 being provided simply to save space.
  • the part 17 has two connecting lugs 13 with clamping means 10 for connecting the outer conductor of the coaxial cable and is provided with openings 14 which are arranged in accordance with the arrangement pattern of the contact pins 5 of the female connector 6 shown in Figures 1 and 2.
  • the second (middle) contact pins can be passed through two recesses 15 of part 17 arranged in the middle of the openings 14 and can be contacted with the inner conductor of the coaxial cable.
