Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for, in particular refining, hydrogenation of organochlorine compounds, such as chlorine-contaminated mineral oils or chlorine-containing carbon-based substances and in particular chlorine-containing waste materials, in which the hydrogen chloride obtained from the organochlorine compound is neutralized, and a neutralizing agent for hydrogen chloride obtained from organochlorine compounds.
The hydrogenation of coal, tars and heavy mineral oils, especially in the so-called sump phase, according to the IG method by Mathias Pier is known and u. a. in the book on hydrogenation technology "Catalytic pressure hydrogenation of coal, tars and mineral oil", which is considered the standard work, by Dr. Walter Krönig, Springer-Verlag, 1950.
The chlorine content in coals is low, so that in general the neutralization of the HCl formed, especially in the so-called bottom phase hydrogenation, is of secondary importance. In special applications of the bottom phase hydrogenation, in which in particular NH₄Cl is added, or in the hydrogenation of relatively chlorine-containing coals, however, so much HCl is formed during the hydrogenation that it must be neutralized because of its corrosive property. This is usually done by adding Na₂S to the coal or by feeding Na₂CO₃, dispersed in heavy oil, at a suitable point in the hydrogenation system. With regard to the problems of chlorine-containing substances in the hydrogenation of coal, reference can be made to the book by Dr. Walter Krönig.
From the older German patent application P 37 23 607.5 it is also known to prepare used oils for secondary refining by hydrogenation in order to remove any organochlorine compounds present, in particular the PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls). Such highly toxic chlorinated dibenzenodioxins and dibenzofurans are formed from such organochlorine compounds if the second raffinate, e.g. B. burns as lubricating oil in internal combustion engines. Polychlorinated biphenyls are e.g. B. in cutting oils, hydraulic oils, especially for mining, in transformer oils and similar oils because the oils are incombustible. On the other hand, the PCB is non-biodegradable, persistent and ubiquitous, and is therefore also used in the food chain, such as in fish, in breast milk and the like. The like. Found increasingly. Other combustible substances containing organochlorine compounds can also be disposed of by incineration only in high-temperature incineration plants without polluting the environment, because otherwise highly toxic compounds, such as dioxin, are also formed. It has been shown that the hydrogenative treatment of organochlorine compounds is a useful alternative to high-temperature combustion, in which ecologically unsafe or harmful by-products or waste products do not arise. Possible working methods for carrying out the method mentioned at the beginning can be found in the older German patent application P 37 23 607.5. In this known process too, hydrogenation is preferably carried out in the bottom phase and the HCl formed during the hydrogenation from the organochlorine compound is neutralized by adding a neutralizing agent. As a neutralizing agent, Na₂S or soda can be added, resulting in HCl according to the simple equation
Na₂S + 2 HCl → 2 NaCl + H₂S
is intercepted.
Experiments in a continuously operating laboratory system have now surprisingly shown that, unlike when using coal-derived oils, salts such as Na₂S, Na₂CO₃ or NaCl in the preheater and reactor system failed from the oil and led to caking and clogging, so that the operation of the system no longer was possible. Even when adding the neutralizing agent in the form of an aqueous solution, e.g. B. as a soda solution or sodium sulfide solution, it comes under the reaction conditions of 300 bar and temperatures of 300 ° C to 500 ° C to the evaporation of the water in the heat exchanger and preheater and precipitation of the salts with the result of the aforementioned difficulties.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to prevent negative effects of the addition of neutralizing agent, in particular impairments of the hydrogenation system in the form of blockages due to failed salts or the like, in a method of the type mentioned above, and to propose a neutralizing agent to avoid such problems.
To achieve this object, it is proposed that the neutralizing agent is liquid under the reaction conditions or that the neutralizing agent is soluble in oil, in particular homogeneous, or that the neutralizing agent is present or applied to a, in particular large-pore, carrier material.
The invention achieves, inter alia, that the precipitations observed with other neutralizing agents, in particular of the neutralizing agent or neutralization product, and the blockages of the hydrogenation system caused thereby, no longer occur and any organochlorine compounds, their hydrogenation according to the general formula:
RCl + H₂ → RH + HCl
expires, can be successfully hydrogenated by the method according to the invention without causing harmful side effects.
Expedient exclusions of the subject matter of the invention, which in particular enable a wide range of reaction conditions and components which react with one another and ensure simple handling in the production or use of the neutralizing agent, are contained in further claims.
The compounds and process steps that can be used according to the invention are not subject to any special exceptions in their composition or in the process conditions, so that known selection criteria can be used without restriction in the respective area of application, in particular they can also advantageously be used independently of one another to solve the task or at least a subtask.
Weitere Einzelheiten, Merkmale und Vorteile des Gegenstandes der Erfindung ergeben sich aus der nachfolgenden Beschreibung von Ausführungsbeispielen:Further details, features and advantages of the subject matter of the invention result from the following description of exemplary embodiments:
In a first series of experiments, bases from the first main group of the periodic table were used, or their salts with weak acids, which are in molten form under reaction conditions, such as. B. NaOH (mp 318 ° C) Na acetate (mp 324 ° C) or Na formate (mp 253 ° C) Disruptions from constipation did not occur, but the neutralization was not so effective that HGl was completely trapped. Rather, it would probably have to be ensured that the molten neutralizing agent came into even closer contact with the gaseous HGl than was possible in the test plant used. Improvements are conceivable here in order to achieve 100% neutralization through intimate contact and sufficient dwell time.
NaOC₆H₅ + HCl→NaCl + C₆H₅OHIn a further series of experiments, Na phenolate was used for neutralization. The compound is soluble in oil, ie homogeneously distributable or distributed. There were no blockages under the reaction conditions. The HGl was completely intercepted and neutralized according to the following equation:
NaOC₆H₅ + HCl → NaCl + C₆H₅OH
The hydrogenation was carried out under the following conditions, which had also been observed in the first test series:
The specific throughput of a waste oil with 0.5% by weight chlorine in the form of polychlorinated biphenyls was 0.5 kg oil / l reactor volume and hour. Na-phenolate, based on chlorine, was added to the oil in a double stoichiometric amount, i. H. 33 g Na phenolate / kg oil.
The phenol formed was partially hydrogenated further under the hydrogenation conditions to cyclohexane. An industrial use is primarily considered when Na phenolate is available inexpensively, e.g. B. as a waste product from the dephenolation of coking plant waste water.
In principle, other oil-soluble sodium salts, e.g. B. of organic acids. Further compounds suitable as neutralizing agents, in particular sodium compounds and their preferred physical properties, the neutralizing agents being in molten form under reaction conditions or being soluble in oil are specified in the subclaims.
However, the best neutralization method turned out to be the use of neutralizing agents on a carrier material, as used in a third series of experiments:
Ebensogut können aus Basen der Erdalkalien bzw. deren Salzen mit einer schwachen Säure verwendet werden, wie Ga(OH)₂, GaCO₃ oder Ca(HCO₃)₂.Bases and / or their salts with weak acids from the first main group of the periodic table, for. B. NaOH, Na₂G0₃, or Na₂S. It is equally possible to use alkaline earth bases or their salts with a weak acid, such as Ga (OH) ₂, GaCO₃ or Ca (HCO₃) ₂.
Ca(HCO₃)₂→CaCO₃ + CO₂ + H₂OIt is advantageous to impregnate the carrier material with aqueous Ca (HCO₃) ₂ solution (a particularly high solubility is achieved here) and then convert it into the sparingly soluble Ca₂CO₃ by drying the impregnated carrier material. As a result, the neutralizing agent is immobilized to a high degree. The conversion into the poorly soluble calcium carbonate takes place according to the formula:
The solubility of Ca (HCO₃) ₂ in water at 20 ° C is 16.6g per 100 g of water. The solubility of CaCO₃ at 18 ° C is 1.5 x 10⁻³ g per 100 g of water.
Materials with a large surface area, in particular porous substances, such as are also customary as catalyst supports, are preferred as the support material, e.g. B. Al₂O₃, activated carbon, activated coke, ßraunkohlenkoks, lignite grudge, bleaching earth or Herdokenkoks.
In this third series of experiments, the carrier material was soaked with the dissolved neutralizing agent, e.g. B. Na₂S in aqueous solution and the water removed by drying. Of course, oil-soluble neutralizing agents can also be used in organic solution, e.g. B. Na phenolate in mineral oil, which is of economic advantage in industrial production because of the low heat of vaporization compared to water. After removing the water or solvent, the neutralizing agent is present in the finest distribution on the surface or in the pores of the carrier material.
The particular advantage of this method lies in the fact that the neutralizing agent sits immobilized on the carrier and cannot settle on the walls in the heater or the reactor and therefore cannot cause disturbances due to blockages. Salt deposits in the preheater snakes are also avoided. Such deposits would otherwise give rise to deterioration in the heat transfer.
Another advantage of distributing the neutralizing agent in a large-area, in particular porous carrier material is the fine distribution, which favors the trapping of the gaseous HCl and is comparable in its effect to a homogeneously distributed neutralizing agent.
Long-term tests with neutralizing agent on carrier material in a laboratory system did not lead to any faults. The HCl is bound as NaCl and discharged with the carrier material from the high-pressure system at the hot water sump.
The hydrating treatment of Cl-contaminated oils in the sump phase using neutralizing agent on carrier material is to be explained below using a simplified flow diagram of the laboratory system:

Als billige Einwegkatalysatoren eignen sich vor allem die bei der Kohlehydrierung bewährten feinverteilten Eisenoxide wie Bayermasse aus der Aluminiumherstellung in einer Menge von ca. 2 Gew%, bezogen auf Öl.Particularly suitable as cheap disposable catalysts are the finely divided iron oxides, such as Bayer mass from aluminum production, which have been tried and tested in coal hydrogenation in an amount of approx. 2% by weight, based on oil.
The oil-neutralizing agent mixture is introduced via a pump 2 into the high pressure area and together with hydrogen under z. B. brought the following conditions to reaction.
The mixture is in a
The top product of the
According to the invention, the organochlorine compounds are thus preferably hydrogenated together with certain oils, the hydrogenation in the presence of hydrogenatable oils having the effect that the released heat of hydrogenation benefits the hydrodechlorination.
