Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating vascular, metabolic and functional imbalances of a limb by pressure variations of a high density fluid, around this limb.
This invention applies more particularly to the treatment of vascular, metabolic and functional imbalances and edemas of the upper and / or lower limbs, by compression and external decompression of one or more limbs of a patient, thanks to the action of a high density liquid, such as mercury.
It is known, in particular from French patent No. 2,267,747, to treat edema of an upper or lower limb, by causing around it, pressure variations of a liquid of high density, such as mercury. The apparatus which is described in the aforementioned patent makes it possible to subject the limb to be treated to a pressure which increases towards the extremity of the limb and which is exerted perpendicular to the skin surface. To obtain this pressure variation, this known device comprises a sealed pocket into which the member to be treated is introduced, this pocket being surrounded by an enclosure inside which mercury is gradually raised, from a low level shown by the bottom of the enclosure and corresponding to the end of the member to be treated, up to a high level represented by the upper part of the enclosure; the high level is close to the root of the member to be treated. The low and high levels are visually marked. The rise of mercury in the enclosure is caused by pneumatic means (compressed gas), which push the mercury and which ensure a gradual rise of it in the enclosure, at a slow and constant speed. When the mercury has reached the high level, the operator can maintain this level for a time he chooses according to the treatment to be carried out, then he opens a valve which allows the mercury to descend into the enclosure by simple gravity, at fairly slow and constant speed. These operations can then be repeated in the same way. All these operations are controlled manually.
The apparatus described in the aforementioned patent makes it possible to obtain spectacular reductions in edemas, in particular lymphatic edemas. However, recent studies carried out by the inventor show that, depending on the pathology to be treated, even more spectacular results can be obtained by respecting successive levels of mercury levels in the enclosure, on the rise and / or the descent; these results are further improved by acting on the rate of rise and / or fall of mercury in the enclosure. These studies have also shown that the results obtained depend on the duration for which the mercury is maintained at the high level and / or at the low level in the tank, and the durations during which it is maintained at intermediate levels during the various sequences of '' the same compressive treatment.
Finally, these studies have shown that other therapeutic effects can be obtained by raising and lowering the mercury very quickly and instantly along the limb or limbs to be treated, in particular in arterial pathology and in states of muscular fatigue, after exertion. sporty for example.
The devices known in the prior art, and in particular the one described in the aforementioned patent, do not make it possible to obtain a controlled variability of the Mercury rise and / or fall speeds in the enclosure. They also do not allow the mercury holding times to be easily adjusted, in particular at the low level in the enclosure and at intermediate levels. They also do not make it possible to control the rates of rise and / or fall of the mercury, between these different intermediate levels.
The object of the invention is precisely to remedy these drawbacks in order to respond to any treatment in the field of vascular, venous, lymphatic or arterial pathology, by providing an apparatus making it possible to automatically obtain variable rates of ascent and / or descent of the mercury in the enclosure, to automatically select different levels of mercury in the tank, when it rises and / or falls, which may cause movement speed changes. The apparatus according to the invention also offers the possibility of maintaining the mercury at the high level and / or at the low level, or at intermediate levels between these two levels, for adjustable predetermined durations.
The subject of the invention is therefore an apparatus for treating vascular, metabolic and functional imbalances, and edemas of a limb, by pressure variation of a high density fluid, around this limb, comprising at least one flexible pocket sealed protection into which the member to be treated is introduced, at least one sealed filling pocket surrounding the protective pocket forming an interval with this protective pocket, these pockets being arranged vertically or inclined, a filling enclosure being thus delimited by the two pockets in said interval, means connected to the enclosure for raising the fluid in this enclosure between a low level (H o ) and a high level (H l ), then to bring the fluid between the high level (H l ) and the low level (H o ), means for determining the levels of the fluid in the enclosure, holding means connected to the means for raising and lowering the fluid in the enclosure, to maintain the fluid in the enclosure at the high level (H l ) and / or at the low level (H o ) and / or at intermediate levels (H i ) between the high and low or low and high levels, for durations respectively predetermined, means for adjusting the level of the fluid in the enclosure, connected to the means for determining levels, the means for raising and lowering the fluid and the holding means, for adjusting the levels of the fluid in the enclosure, characterized in that it further comprises speed adjustment means connected to the means for raising and lowering the fluid in the enclosure and to the level determination means, for adjusting the rate of rise and / or descent of the fluid between low level and ha level ut and / or between the high level and the low level, and / or between the intermediate levels.

This device can treat a
The apparatus comprises, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, at least one waterproof and flexible
The two pockets are arranged vertically or can possibly be slightly inclined. The
Cet accroissement de pression résulte du principe bien connu du "tonneau percé de Pascal".The apparatus also includes means for determining the level reached by the
The apparatus also includes
The holding means 14A are connected to the
According to an alternative embodiment, the control signals supplied by the
The level adjustment means 14B are connected to the level determination means 12 and to the
There is a simple change in engine speed to a preset level, without maintaining the fluid at this level for a predetermined duration, when this duration is preset to a zero value.
The level adjustment means can be constituted by a programmable logic circuit associated with a comparator which supplies a control signal when a preset level, detected by the
In this embodiment, the speed, duration and level selections are made manually, by action on keys not shown, allowing the programming of the programmable logic circuits of the adjustment means 14A, 14B, 14C.
According to an alternative, even more efficient embodiment of the apparatus, it comprises a
In order to avoid any pollution by mercury which can leak through the pipes, the pump, or the tank, and generally by the means making it possible to raise and lower the mercury in the enclosure, means may be provided. mercury recovery, arranged under the entire device. According to an alternative embodiment of the device, it can be provided with means making it possible to boil the mercury in the filling
According to the invention, and in order to ensure proper operation of the pump 6, which makes it possible to raise and lower the mercury in the filling
La figure 2 représente schématiquement une autre variante de réalisation de l'appareil selon l'invention.FIG. 2 schematically represents another variant embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention.
We have only shown in this figure the elements affected by this variant. The same elements have the same references as in FIG. 1. According to this variant, the
The same elements have the same references as in FIG. 1. Only the elements specific to this embodiment are shown in this figure. The device here comprises at least a
According to a variant of this second embodiment, the device may include a
After a first filling of the first and
Solenoid valves could also be inserted, respectively on the supply conduits of the
In this embodiment, the ascent and descent speeds are equal. The fluid can be maintained at a high level and at a low level for equal predetermined times.
The control means 33 are connected to the
Ce diagramme montre les possibilités de programmation de vitesses, de niveaux et de maintien.FIG. 4 is a diagram which makes it possible to better understand the operation and the performances of the apparatus according to the invention. This diagram represents an example of variations in speeds and levels H in the
- a rising speed V l between the instants t o and t l , so that the fluid rises from the level H o (bottom of the enclosure 5) to the intermediate level H₂.
- a rising speed V₂ between the instants t₁ and t₂, so that the fluid rises from the intermediate level H₂ to the intermediate level H₃, without maintaining the level H₂.
- a rapid descent speed V₃, between the instants t₂ and t₃, so that the fluid descends from the intermediate level H₃ to the low level H o .
- a rapid rise speed V₄, between the instants t₃ and t₄, so that the fluid rises from the low level H o to the high level H₄.
- a slower speed V₅, between the instants t₄ and t₅, so that the fluid passes from the intermediate level H₄ to the high level H₁.
- maintaining the fluid (zero speed V₆) at the high level H₁, between the instants t₅ and t₆.
- a rapid descent speed V₇ between the instants t₆ and t₇, so that the fluid passes from the high level H₁ to the low level H o .
- a rise speed V₈ between the instants t₇ and t₈, the fluid passing from the low level H o , to an intermediate level H₅.
- maintaining the fluid at the intermediate level H₅ (zero speed V₉), between the instants t₈ and t₉.
- a descent of the fluid at the speed V₁₀, between the instants t₉ and t₁₀, the fluid passing from H₅ to H o .
The cycle which has just been described can then be stopped or restarted in the same or different manner depending on the desired treatment.
- Between the instants t o and t₁ the speed V₁ of rise of the fluid between the low level H o and the high level H₁, is constant.
- Between t₁ and t₂, the fluid is maintained at level H₁ (zero speed V₂).
- Between t₂ and t₃, the fluid descends at constant speed V₃, from level H₁ to level H o at which it is maintained until time t₄ (zero speed V₄).
- Between t₄ and t₅, the fluid rises from the level H o to the intermediate level H₂ at constant speed V₅; it is maintained at level H₂ until time t₆ (zero speed V₆).
- Between t₆ and t₇, the fluid descends from H₂ to H o at constant speed V₇. The fluid is maintained at H o between t₇ and t₈, at zero speed V₈. The cycle then continues as shown in the diagram, between the instants t₈ and t₁₅ while undergoing climbs at constant speeds V₉, V₁₃, descents at constant speeds V₁₁, V₁₅, maintaining at zero speeds V₁₀, V₁₄ at the levels intermediaries H₃, H₄, maintain at the low level H o , at zero speeds V₁₂, V₁₆. Then the cycle can resume at time t₁₆, in the same way, by a rise in speed V₁₇ equal to the speed V₁. For example, the rise or fall times are close to one minute and the hold times at the high level or at intermediate levels are close to five minutes.
- Between the instants t o and t₁ the fluid undergoes successive ups and downs (between H o and H₁), respectively at speeds V₁, V₂, separated by maintaining at the low level H o , at zero speed V₃. By way of example, a rise and a fall of the fluid take place in approximately thirty seconds while the time for maintaining the low level is close to thirty seconds.
- Between the instants t₂ and t₃, the fluid undergoes successive ups and downs (between H o and H₂), respectively at speeds V₄, V₅, separated by maintaining at the low level H o , at zero speed V₆. By way of example, an ascent and a descent of the fluid take place in approximately forty-five seconds, while the time to maintain the level H o remains close to forty-five seconds.
- Between the instants t₄ and t₅ the fluid undergoes successive ups and downs (between H o and H₃), respectively at speeds V₇ and V₈, without maintaining the low level H o . For example, a rise and fall of the fluid takes place in about one minute.
The operation described between times t₄ and t₅, can be applied to the embodiment of Figure 3 (several speakers), when the speeds V vitesses and V₈ are equal.
