An arrangement for transporting containers through filling and/or packaging machines by means of open-bottom, adapter-like carrier elements (4) which displace the containers over a substantially horizontal stationary transport surface and are adapted externally to the shape of the particular filling and/or packaging machine and internally to the contours of the particular containers passing through the machine, characterized in that, as seen from above, each carrier element (4) is substantially U-shaped and in that an iron or magnetic plate (7) is incorporated in the back of the web of the U-shaped carrier element and co-operates with magnetic or iron belt conveyors (1) circulating parallel to and at the same level as the plate.
  2. An arrangement as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that horizontally extending guide grooves (9) or ridges are formed on the outsides of the flange (5a,5b) of the U-shaped carrier elements (4a,4b).
  3. An arrangement as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the carrier elements (4a,4b) are provided with openings (8,10) for manipulating the containers and/or to save weight.
