Abstract

The sliding door of showcases is normally closed by means of safety locks, but these have to be installed with a high degree of accuracy if the side wall is to have no play in the position of rest. The new device will likewise make it possible to close a showcase securely, but without having to ensure particular accuracy during installation. The sliding door 4 is held in the closing position or position of rest by permanent magnets 7 which are attached to the showcase and the magnetic field of which can be cancelled via an electrical winding by the flow of an appropriate direct current. Since the permanent magnets do not have to be installed with such accuracy, the assembly of a showcase of this type can also be carried out outside a workshop, for example a building site. Furthermore, the secure closing of sliding doors can thus be brought about, even in places where conventional closing devices would be accessible only with difficulty. <IMAGE>
