Description

The present invention relates to improvements made to shutter systems combining a screw cap and a threaded neck and it relates more particularly to such a cap whose thread is intended to be engaged elastically by an axial movement relative to said threaded neck.

Capsules are known that have at least one inner cord intended to snap elastically into at least one groove formed on the neck of a container. If the retention is effective in order to obtain a good seal, the extraction of the capsule is very difficult. On the contrary, if the insertion is relatively easy in order to allow an easy extraction, the sealing is poor.

The improvements which are the subject of the present invention aim to remedy these drawbacks and to allow the production of a capsule which can be snapped in relation to the neck of a container by allowing on the one hand to obtain a very good seal and on the other hand easy extraction.

To this end, the closure system according to the invention, constituted by a screw cap intended to cooperate with the threaded neck of a container, is characterized in that the number of threads of the neck and that of the capsule are different and in that at least one of these elements is associated with a sealing means cooperating with the other element in order to ensure sealing whatever the degree of depression of the capsule on the neck.

In addition, the capsule has two threads and the neck four, said threads being respectively angularly offset by 180 ° and 90 °.

1 a capsule 1 intended to close the neck 2 of a container 3.

2.The capsule 1 comprises as usual a circular bottom 10 whose periphery cooperates with a cylindrical skirt 11 standing perpendicular to the bottom 10 and whose inner face 11 a is provided with two threads 12 offset 180 ° relative to each other to the other, as illustrated in fig. 2.

The underside 10a of the bottom 10 is associated with a tubular sleeve 13, the end edge 13a is slightly tapered towards the center. Such a capsule can be produced by pressure molding of a suitable elastic plastic material, in particular polyethylene.

The neck 2 assumes the shape of a cylinder on the outer face of which are formed four threads 20, as more particularly well illustrated in the press of FIG. 3. Of course, the origins of the threads 20 are offset by 90 ° and they each extend over an angle of 180 °. The threads 12 and those 20 have their origins slightly below the vertical generator of each of their departures at 90 ° and 180 ° and their completion takes place slightly after said departures. This is how the two threads 12 start and end on either side of the generators referenced 0 and 180 °, while in FIG. 3, the threads 20 leave and arrive in pairs on either side of the generatrices illustrating four quarters of the circumference.

It is easily understood that before the capping operation, that is to say the placing of the capsule on the neck, these two elements are not oriented in a defined manner with respect to each other, so that they can be in any angular position.

The abovementioned capping operation consists, according to the invention, in exerting an axial pressure on the capsule in the direction of the container in order to snap the threads of the capsule resiliently relative to certain threads of the neck or vice versa.

Of course, there is nothing to prevent the capsule from being placed on the neck either from the start or during a subsequent filling by making it undergo a rotation intended to screw it onto the threads of the neck.

In the optimal orientation illustrated in fig. 4 and 5, the origin of the two threads 12 of the capsule corresponds to that of two threads 20 of the neck (those located at the generators 0 and 180 °), so that the threads 12 bear on the entire length of two threads 20 of the neck. Under these conditions, the retention of the capsule is carried out according to two helical arcs of circle covering the entire periphery of the neck and of the capsule.

Sealing is achieved by the cooperation of the sleeve 13 with a narrowing 21 of the neck, regardless of the degree of depression of the capsule on this neck.

If the orientation of the capsule 1 is such that the top of its threads 12 arrive at the end of insertion exactly on the crest of the threads 20 of the neck, as illustrated in FIG. 6, the elasticity of the capsule 1 causes an axial translation so that its threads 12 come under the threads 20 of the neck, this translation of the capsule being equal to half the apparent pitch P of the thread of the neck 2. But of course , this translation of the capsule being carried out vertically without any rotation, the threads of the two elements of the closure system are not in the ideal angular position shown in FIG. 4 and 5, but with an offset of the threads, as illustrated in fig. 8. In this case, there is a hold on at least half the circumference, which constitutes a perfectly satisfactory restraint for the most unfavorable case. We observe in fig. 7 that the seal is still maintained since there is still support of the sleeve 13 against the narrowing 21 of the neck.

Finally, there is illustrated in FIG. 9 another sealing means consisting of an elastic washer 4 with which the end edge 22 of the neck cooperates, and which ensures the sealing as well in the position of FIG. 4 as in that of FIG. 7. Of course, when using such a washer, it is necessary to provide a clearance between the edge 22 and the face 10a of the bottom 10 of the capsule 1 in FIG. 9 since the washer 4 cannot not be compressed completely.

Of course, the washer 4 could also be carried by the neck without departing from the scope of the invention.

Preferably, an actual pitch of 8 mm is chosen for the threads so that the unscrewing is very rapid, the apparent pitch, that is to say the ratio real pitch / number of threads is four for the capsule and two for the neck, it being understood that the case remains where the neck has four threads and the capsule two.

In this case, three quarters of the length of each thread 12 of the capsule is engaged with the corresponding threads 20 of the neck.

It goes without saying that the pitch of the threads of the capsule and of the neck could be different, the important thing being that the capsule and / or the neck has a number of threads different from that of the other element.

Comme illustré en fig. 10 et 11, on prévoit en variante de faire comporter à la capsule 1 et respectivement au goulot 2 plusieurs filets fins 12′, 20′.As illustrated in fig. 10 and 11, it is provided as a variant to have the capsule 1 and respectively the neck 2 several fine threads 12 ′, 20 ′.

12 et 13.According to the invention, the number of threads 12 ′ of the capsule 1 is one greater than that of the threads 20 ′ of the neck 2, so that the axial engagement by force of the capsule 1 on the neck 2 s' performed by overlapping the respective threads, but only one of the threads 12 ′ of the capsule engaging under one of the threads 20 ′ of the neck 2, as illustrated in FIG. 12. Under these conditions, the capsule is retained by only one of its peripheral points relative to the neck (fig. 13), the anchoring point being referenced A in fig. 12 and 13.

15).If the number of threads 12 ′ is two greater than that of the threads 20 ′ of the neck, two threads of the capsule and of the neck are engaged, as illustrated in FIG. 14, along two diametrically opposite points A and B (fig. 15).

Finally, as illustrated in fig. 16 and 17, if the number of threads 12 ′ of capsule 1 is three greater than that of threads 20 ′ of neck 2, three threads 12 ′ are engaged with three threads 20 at points A, C and D (figs. 16 and 17) regularly distributed at 120 ° from each other on the periphery of the capsule and the neck. In these two cases, the number of threads on the neck of the neck equal to six is advantageously chosen, that of the capsule of course being equal to eight or nine. We could also choose the number of threads on the neck ring equal to any number divisible by two and three.

The advantage of this variant compared to the embodiment described above consists in the fact that it is ensured to avoid any axial elastic displacement of the capsule, since in all cases one, two or three threads or thread caps of the capsule engage with a corresponding number of fillets or caps of fillet from the neck. Under these conditions, the sealing means between the capsule and the neck can be a simple flat seal 4 not having a high compression capacity, but the usual qualities of such a seal.

It goes without saying that in the case of the use of the threads 12 ′ and 20 ′ as described above, it is also necessary, as in the previous embodiment, that the screw cap be made of a material elastic allowing its deformation during the overlapping of the threads and its return to its initial position.
