Definitions
- the invention relates to a foldable wheelchair with two side frames, which carry the drive and running wheels and are connected to one another by two crossed struts lying in planes transverse to the direction of travel, which are rotatably connected at the crossing point and can be moved like scissors about their axis of rotation, with a backrest and with one seat.
- Foldable wheelchairs of this type so-called cross strut folding wheelchairs, have been known for many years.
- the oldest wheelchairs of this type which have been around for over 50 years (e.g. the system according to the Everest and Jennings patent), have a slide and guide piece that connects the seat tube and backrest to the frame, and a guide tube at the front of the seat tube , which is retractable telescopically in the frame.
- the seat is designed so that it is not only slidable, but also tiltable.
- an elaborate support body is provided which forms the seat with a seat body. So that the seat can be properly positioned, the support body has recesses in which the struts consisting of pipe sections cross the support body.
- the seat is designed so that it can be used in practically any foldable or collapsible wheelchair, since in principle it is only a matter of choosing the recesses and the suspension bracket provided in addition to them so that they can work together with the struts or frame.
- DE-PS 37 08 302 does not specify anything about special features of this known wheelchair, which would help it to achieve sufficient stability while at the same time saving weight.
- the object of the invention is to design a foldable wheelchair of the type mentioned in such a way that the crossed struts are firm and playful in a simpler manner and at the same time saving weight in the unfolded state Allow to be freely connected to the frame so that the wheelchair is completely stable when unfolded.
- struts are hinged to the frame at the lower ends and carry seat tubes lying at the upper ends in the direction of travel, which are snapped into the snap-in parts provided on the frame when the wheelchair is unfolded, and in that each strut is above the crossing point is hingedly connected to the adjacent frame by means of a rotating tab.
- the wheelchair according to the invention has, according to the invention, a special swivel bracket system and a special snap-in connection between the seat tubes and snap-in parts, the latter being fixed to the frame and permitting the establishment of a firm connection between the seat tubes and the frame.
- the seat tubes, which snap into the snap-in parts, result in a stable, very firm connection between the seat and frame tubes. This connection eliminates virtually all games.
- the fixed connection between the seat and frame tubes is achieved by a specially calculated radius of the seat tubes over the pivot bracket fixing point and, above all, the receiving pieces constructed precisely for this radius, as well as by the radius and the choice of material, whichever the latter allows the precisely correct elastic deformation of the receptacle, into which the seat tube then snaps into the snap-in part in the over-eccentric sequence of motion and thereby results in the particularly stable and firm connection between the seat and frame tubes.
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a foldable wheelchair with two side frames 10a, 10b, each consisting of steel tubing and each represent a torsionally rigid construction.
- a handle tube 12a or 12b extends upward from each frame.
- the frames 10a, 10b carry drive wheels 14a, 14b and wheels 16a, 16b.
- the frames 10a, 10b each form a frame rectangle, which is stiffened at the rear end by a plate 18a and 18b. Openings 20a and 20b are provided in the plates 18a, 18b for fastening the axis of the associated drive wheel 14a, 14b at different points, for example depending on the body size of the wheelchair user, the desired seat inclination, etc.
- the frame legs of the frame rectangle run obliquely and lead to a foot platform 22, which is designed as a bracket, which is articulated on the frame 10b and can be snapped onto the other frame 10a, as can be seen easily in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the two frames 10a, 10b are connected by two crossed struts 24a, 24b lying in planes transverse to the direction of travel.
- the struts 24a, 24b are rotatably connected at their crossing point and can be moved like scissors about their axis of rotation 26, in which the crossing point lies.
- the struts 24a, 24b are hinged to the frame 10b and 10a, respectively.
- the struts 24a, 24b each have a seat tube 28a and 28b at their upper ends.
- the seat tubes 28a, 28b are rigidly connected to the struts 24a, 24b, e.g. welded.
- the struts and the seat tubes are also made of steel tube.
- the seat tubes 28a, 28b extend parallel to the direction of travel, as can be seen easily from FIGS. 1 to 3.
- Two snap-in parts 30a, 30b which have elastically deformable receiving pieces into which the seat tubes 28a, 28b can snap, are fastened to the upper horizontal legs of each square frame.
- the snap-in parts are designed overall as elastically deformable receiving pieces.
- Another embodiment would be to provide an elastically deformable receiving piece on a base that is connected to the frame tube. Fig.
- FIG. 5 shows an enlarged view of a snap-in part formed with through-bores 31 ', 31', which are aligned when the snap-in part is mounted with a corresponding through-hole in the frame, so that each snap-in part can be fastened to the frame by means of a screw.
- the struts 24a, 24b each have at their lower ends a pivot tube 34a or 34b parallel to the seat tube 28a or 28b, which is rotatably attached to the associated frame 10a or 10b.
- the rotatable fastening consists of two blocks 36, 37, which, like the snap-in parts, are fastened to the frame and have blind holes into which the ends of the articulation tube are inserted, as can be seen easily in FIG. 1.
- the articulation tube can also be a steel tube which, like the seat tube, is described above Way is connected to the associated strut.
- the wheelchair is covered by fabrics B1 or B2 and B3 made of textile or the like, which form the backrest, the seat or a lower leg support.
- each strut 24a, 24b above the crossing point is connected in an articulated manner to the adjacent frame 10a or 10b by a rotating bracket 40a, 40b.
- the rotary tabs 40a, 40b are each rotatably fastened in a block 42a or 42b, which in turn is fastened to the associated frame 10a or 10b, e.g. B. also by means of an inserted screw like the snap-in parts 30a, 30b.
- the fastening points of the blocks 42a, 42b on the frames 10a, 10b can be seen in FIG. 3.
- the position of the articulation points of the rotating tabs that is to say their pivoting attachment points on the blocks 42a, 42b on the one hand and the struts 24a, 24b on the other hand, and the length of the rotating tabs are selected so that the seat tubes 28a, 28b move with them towards the latching parts 30a, 30b a certain radius course from above into the receiving pieces.
- the course of the radius and individual phases of movement of the seat tubes are indicated in FIG. 5 with broken lines. This sequence of movements results when the crossed struts 24a, 24b are brought into the folded position (from left to right) as shown in FIG. 4.
- Fig. 5 further shows that the cross section of the receiving pieces or snap-in parts 30a, 30b corresponds to that of the seat tubes 28a, 28b, but coordinated with an over-eccentric movement sequence of the seat tubes at the top is so wide that the seat tubes can be snapped into the receiving pieces with a temporary elastic deformation are.
- the elastic deformation is indicated at the top right in FIG. 5 by dashed lines in the snap-in part 30a.
- the seat cover B2 Since in the wheelchair described above the seat cover B2 is attached to the seat tubes 28a, 28b, the snap connection between the seat tubes and frame 10a, 10b is additionally secured by the weight of the wheelchair user.
- the covering B2 is recessed in the area of the snap-in parts 30a, 30b (cf. FIG. 3), so that it does not hinder the snap-in of the seat tubes 28a, 28b into the snap-in parts.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a foldable wheelchair with two side frames, which carry the drive and running wheels and are connected to one another by two crossed struts lying in planes transverse to the direction of travel, which are rotatably connected at the crossing point and can be moved like scissors about their axis of rotation, with a backrest and with one seat.
Foldable wheelchairs of this type, so-called cross strut folding wheelchairs, have been known for many years. The oldest wheelchairs of this type, which have been around for over 50 years (e.g. the system according to the Everest and Jennings patent), have a slide and guide piece that connects the seat tube and backrest to the frame, and a guide tube at the front of the seat tube , which is retractable telescopically in the frame. To save weight, cross strut folding wheelchairs without slide and guide piece and without telescopic connections have already been proposed, this cross strut folding wheelchair However, chairs have not prevailed because they had too much play when folding and unfolding the wheelchair, were not stable enough when unfolded due to the lack of a firm connection between frame and seat tube, and in particular were even less stable than the 50-year-old Everest and Jennings.
In a known wheelchair of the type mentioned (DE-PS 37 08 302) the seat is designed so that it is not only slidable, but also tiltable. For this purpose, an elaborate support body is provided which forms the seat with a seat body. So that the seat can be properly positioned, the support body has recesses in which the struts consisting of pipe sections cross the support body. The seat is designed so that it can be used in practically any foldable or collapsible wheelchair, since in principle it is only a matter of choosing the recesses and the suspension bracket provided in addition to them so that they can work together with the struts or frame. DE-PS 37 08 302 does not specify anything about special features of this known wheelchair, which would help it to achieve sufficient stability while at the same time saving weight. Since in the known wheelchair the seat can be fixed after the desired position is reached, so that it assumes a fixed position with respect to the supporting frame, it can be assumed that the seat is attached to the supporting frame by means of screwing serves to fix the wheelchair in its unfolded position. This is complex, because it requires screwing means for the fixation, and also cumbersome to use.
The object of the invention is to design a foldable wheelchair of the type mentioned in such a way that the crossed struts are firm and playful in a simpler manner and at the same time saving weight in the unfolded state Allow to be freely connected to the frame so that the wheelchair is completely stable when unfolded.
This object is achieved in that the struts are hinged to the frame at the lower ends and carry seat tubes lying at the upper ends in the direction of travel, which are snapped into the snap-in parts provided on the frame when the wheelchair is unfolded, and in that each strut is above the crossing point is hingedly connected to the adjacent frame by means of a rotating tab.
The wheelchair according to the invention has, according to the invention, a special swivel bracket system and a special snap-in connection between the seat tubes and snap-in parts, the latter being fixed to the frame and permitting the establishment of a firm connection between the seat tubes and the frame. The seat tubes, which snap into the snap-in parts, result in a stable, very firm connection between the seat and frame tubes. This connection eliminates virtually all games.
Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung bilden den Gegenstand der Unteransprüche.Advantageous embodiments of the invention form the subject of the subclaims.
In the embodiment of the invention according to claims 2 to 4, the fixed connection between the seat and frame tubes is achieved by a specially calculated radius of the seat tubes over the pivot bracket fixing point and, above all, the receiving pieces constructed precisely for this radius, as well as by the radius and the choice of material, whichever the latter allows the precisely correct elastic deformation of the receptacle, into which the seat tube then snaps into the snap-in part in the over-eccentric sequence of motion and thereby results in the particularly stable and firm connection between the seat and frame tubes.

Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a foldable wheelchair with two
The two
The
Fig. 5 further shows that the cross section of the receiving pieces or snap-in
Since in the wheelchair described above the seat cover B2 is attached to the
