Abstract

A method for transferring a subject in the form of an image or script, consisting of at least two conventional printing inks and produced on a flexible surface as a primary support by a printing process to a sheet-like subject support, in particular to a leather, textile or wood surface, in which the subject or receiving surface of the subject support or secondary support is brought into contact under pressure and over an area with the subject until the subject adheres to the secondary support, after which the primary support is removed from the subject, is to be improved in such a way that the subject is produced on a primary support in the form of a cellulose-containing surface which is moisture-permeable on one side and coated on the other side with plastic or with a paint, by the method of indirect electrostatic reproduction using dry toner, and, prior to the use of pressure contact, is placed dry on the surface of the secondary support and is then heated. In addition, the subject is to be applied to the coated surface.

Description

The invention relates to a method for transferring a motif in the form of an image or lettering onto a flat motif carrier - in particular onto a leather, textile or wood surface - which is generated by a printing method on a flexible surface piece as a primary carrier. , the surface of the motif or secondary carrier receiving the motif being brought into surface pressure contact with that motif until the motif adheres to the secondary carrier, after which the primary carrier is removed from the motif.

A method of this type has become known from DE-PS 27 57 630 and has since proven itself in practice. The transfer takes place after the application of a color-resolving transfer liquid, which is of particular importance for the process according to the invention. DE-OS 32 47 177 also discloses a transfer liquid in the form of methylene chloride, which is used in a complicated and expensive manner and dissolves the original base on which the image is located.

The image is applied from a plate to an intermediate carrier and transferred from there to the new documents or the secondary carrier. For this purpose, the latter must be electrically charged, and the transmission can only take place at relatively high temperatures by spraying a high-voltage discharge. The effort to transfer the image to the secondary carrier is extremely complex.

In view of this state of the art, the inventor has set himself the goal of treading a new path that is conducive to the above-mentioned method.

To solve this problem, the motif is generated on a primary carrier in the form of a moisture-permeable surface on one side and on the other side with plastic or lacquer coating surface by indirect electrostatic, with dry toner color copying and dry before applying the pressure contact on the - coated - surface of the secondary carrier is placed on and heated before removing the primary carrier. The preferred exposure time for the heat, which is between approximately 100 ° C. and 300 ° C., is 3 to 5 seconds.

For this purpose, it has proven to be advantageous to provide the moisture-permeable back of the primary carrier with a wax-like substance - stearin, paraffin or the like - after placing it on the secondary carrier, preferably to wet or spray it with a wax-like liquid.

It is within the scope of the invention, when using screen printing technology, to use solvent-intensive printing inks in the one- or two-component range to produce the image motif, and to use preferably white paper with a plastic coating on one side (about 80 to 120 g / m 2) as the primary support; the figure will when registering on the secondary carrier, register-accurate and color-intensive transfer. There is no deeper penetration of color pigments into the secondary carrier.

The pressure to be used for the transfer can be done with a simple roller or even with the free end of a pen. All kinds of images are suitable as motifs, especially fonts that may be used in mirror writing.

... über eine Thermo-Presse übertragen.
The following procedures are also within the scope of the invention:
the motif is transferred from the primary carrier to the secondary carrier
. ironed on (mainly a do-it-yourself process),
.. by means of a hot air blower or
... transferred via a thermal press.

According to the invention, the back of the image of the primary carrier can be lightly rubbed with wax before transfer printing, or a wax-containing paper can be placed on it. It is also possible to lightly spray the back of the image of the primary carrier with liquid wax before transfer printing or to apply it with a brush.

The invention is of course not limited to the particular embodiment described above, but various other modifications are within the scope of the invention.

In the direct professional department, for example, the process steps mentioned above can be carried out using calender thermopresses.

When the invention is used commercially, copier devices save a great deal of time and money; for a conventional four-color print z. B. one would have very high upfront costs for the creation of the necessary four films, four plates and for setting up four times; this is omitted in the present invention. This new technology is the optimal, most cost-effective solution for small and medium-sized runs.
